I think if we can do what Goodie seemed incapable of in managing our aging stars to keep their body fresh, while getting games into the maturing guys coming through, we could still get alot of value out of guys like Maysie.

I haven't seen enough of Jed to have a good feel for what he's really made of, but he must be getting close to the mark and there should now be a huge carrot in front of him to put in a huge preseson, step up and make his claim in the 23.

So you wouldn't let Gawn play in the State of Origin?

I wouldn't deduce that from my comment. I think Gawn has well and truly earnt his right to play in a state representative game and there's no way I'd deny him that if his wishes were to play.

Depending on the opponents we had in comming weeks though, I'd be considering if we gave The Moose and/or big Tommy Campbell a run in the seniors to keep Gawn fresher throughout the season though at the same time as getting games into The Moose.

I actually thought that was part of the philosophy in recruiting Campbell - to help manage Gawn and extend his career. I'm only guessing, but I suspect that with our start to the season and the way it panned out from there that flipped on that, because we wanted Gawn out there as one of our stars to keep the season alive and then keep us compeditive and try to rescue something from the season.

If we've got other guys that are at AFL standard, I think we've got to put some faith in them to play seniors sometime through the season, even if they may not be the best ruckman in the AFL like Max.
