Kent, I wonder if the indecision is in fact caused because no one up field has led for him? I cannot tell from watching my tv, perhaps someone at the game could comment on this.

PS - thanks @joeboy - another great season - itโ€™s much appreciated.

Gawn - sealed all Australian

May - say goodbye Steven

Petracca - disappointed in clutch

Oliver - finally regained form

Salem - season best game

Langford - continued to impress

Bowey - classy and important

Fritsch - disappeared when needed

Viney - regularly butchered disposals

Rivers - stepped up Impressively

Pickett - better second half

Turner - rarely noticed again

Chandler - little to enthuse

Melksham - had some moments

van Rooyen - often looked amateurish

McVee - seldom looked interested

McDonald - strong and reliable

Howes - poor under pressure

Sparrow - fumbled vital chances

Petty - played little part

Culley - will be better

Langdon - had limited involvement

Sharp - had no impact

Excellent final analysis.

I thought Turner wasn't too bad and Tmac wasn't great.

Melksham has always been inconsistent. Has moments of brilliance and despite a resurgence in the last couple of years has still drifted in and out of form.

May has been great but your probably right in having him hang up the boots.

If Pickett was as good in the first half as his second we would have won.

We were smashed in the middle in the first two quarters.

Chandler starts seasons well but gafes away. Although this year was probably one of his better ones.

Its time for Petty to go to the backline with May possibly leaving.

He has improved fwd in the last three weeks and he started on fire with three marks and three disposals in the first only to have just one mark and disposal for the other whole three quarters. Wth?

Our tallest fwd. My goodness.

Oliver was back in all his glory almost. And Salo not far behind.

Rivers stormed home.

Tracc looked intimidated by the pies and probably for good reason but he butchered it frequently.

Despite losing what we should have won, it was after the disappointment has worn off, a valiant effort.

Just a shame we soiled ourselves in the final ten minutes.

I hope that's the last you have to mention Sparrow whose constant selection exposes a critical lack of depth.

Thanks for all your insights this year JB.

  • REPORT: Collingwood

It was yet another disappointing outcome in a disappointing year, with Melbourne missing the finals for the second consecutive season. Indeed, it wasnโ€™t even close, as the Demons' tally of seven wins was less than half the number required to rank among the top eight teams in the competition. When the dust of the game settled and supporters reflected on Melbourne's ย six-point defeat at the hands of close game specialists Collingwood, Max Gawn's words about his teamโ€™s unfulfilled potential rang true โ€ฆ well, almost.ย
