POSTGAME: Rd 24 vs Collingwood

I reckon we’d have beaten Collingwood if we’d played Billings instead of Sharp.

i.e. picked a player in great form instead of a proven non-contributor. Would have made at least 7 points difference.

I'd argue we were in the North game too. The deficit at 3/4 time was 18 points and we'd butchered multiple inside 50s chances (see Viney), but were creating plenty of slingshot chances in that third quarter. We just [censored] the bed in the last.

Agree although conversely I feel like the Cats game was one we were never really in despite being close enough on the scoreboard (I didn't see this whole game though so could be wrong).

  • PREVIEW: Essendon

Not long ago, the narrative surrounding Melbourne was steeped in pessimism. There was some concern among the pundits (and even some fans) that the club would arrive at the AFL’s Gather Round still winless, vulnerable to a familiar adversary in the Essendon Football Club, and facing significant scrutiny from an ever-critical media on a national stage. Things have changed.

  • REPORT: Gold Coast

Steven King astutely identified the issues that had plagued the Melbourne Football Club over the past two and a half seasons when he auditioned for the newly created coaching role. The side that had claimed the 2021 premiership had become stodgy, slow-paced, and hesitant to take the initiative.
