I felt waaay worse about Jetta, Jones and Hunt missing out on a grand final in 2021.

I still feel gutted about Gus, and that hurt won’t ever just disappear.

I even feel terrible for Hore. What shocking luck!

Very few coaches get to walk away by choice, most are tapped on the shoulder or sacked.

That is the brutal reality of the industry.

At least Goodwin got to walk away with a flag, success, a playing group that loves him, industry wide respect, and a $1million payout. I’ve seen senior coaches walk away with far less.

Dean Bailey’s sacking was a bigger knife in the gut for mine because it was a pathetic reactive decision made by those who deserved to go far sooner than he did.

This! Accurate!

I've been a Dees supporter since I can remember. My Trident membership is coming up for its 20th auto renew.

There's been some good [censored] during that time and lots of bad [censored].

But ... when it all comes down to it ... football is an industry built around a game. It's not life !

I'm sure I don't lack emotion but I just don't understand or share the feeling of bereavement that some posters pour out.

As you know Uncle, some people thrive on the meloncholy of sadness and that feeling can manifest in what some here are experiencing. Yep it aint a Bereavement! Oh and by the way I'm doing very well I must say! London is a sensational place, but there are too many Bloody Tourists

First time ?

For me a coach/CEO/player leaving or being sacked doesn't impact me as negatively as an ugly loss does. The club is bigger than any given individual, whether supporter or personnel, but a loss like the Saints one hurts the club. It feeds a media narrative about the club, it gives ammunition to other supporters and if you're as invested as we on Demonland are it stings at a personal level.

I haven't agreed with every coach sacking we've made or player we've traded out (or even in sometimes) but I don't remember them with the same pain as some of the losses, and I've never felt happy with a dismissal in the way I feel happy about even the most lacklustre of wins (except maybe one dire game against the Lions almost a decade ago at the MCG which I hope noone else remembers).

In the end, we aren't performing well, it doesn't feel like we're improving and the coach has ultimate responsibility for that for mine. Players seemed to love Goodwin, but that wasn't translating into success anymore so hopefully whoever the next coach is finds the missing pieces for us.
