This is the crux of selection problems at Melbourne, last year in the later half of the year JEFFO DID show form and was NOT rewarded with selection. What a waste, perfect opportunity to blood him when he was in form but save for emergencies this was not done, Goodwin again playing favourites. So your argument is not supported. This year he has shown almost zero form other than some glimpses in his first game. So on merit he should NEVER have been in line for selection last week but he was and performed poorly. But Goody CLEARLY plays favourites, Fritsch, Spargo, Chandler was given an extended run last year on no form, and Fritsch this year has been abysmal! He has the propensity to stick with out of form players and rush back those with serious injuries before time at Casey. Sestan , Laurie and Brown HAVE shown some good form and have been ignored, PFFFT. He and selection comittee have set Jeffo up for failure and in so doing have done him or the club NO favours.

You're not completely wrong. I'd say we have to find out if Laurie, Brown and Sestan are AFL standard this year. Brown can probably wait until next year, I think he currently sits behind Chandler, Spargo and Pickett. If he was banging the door down we could probably make room. Do we try him back? I don't think he has the size or the disposal for it and it looks like the match committee agree. Laurie is clearly banging the door down and I'd say he's close to yet another chance. Sestan I can't judge because of the games I've watched I just don't see the pressing need for him to play AFL, I of course hope to be wrong. None of them replace Fritsch or Chandler. Spargo draws the most criticism. I'm a fan and don't see anyone below him taking his spot atm.

Jeffo showed some signs today, was aggresive, almost took some heavily contested grabs and had a hand in 2 goals out of the 6 kicked. Could have had at least 3.

  • REPORT: Carlton

The text messages started flooding in shortly after quarter time. One read: “Is Melbourne even at the ground?” Moments later, as Carlton’s Elijah Hollands kicked the first goal of the second term, the Blues held a commanding 43-point lead. By then, the Demons’ only score was a behind kicked by Brody Mihocek nearly five minutes into the game. Ironically, Mihocek would also register the last minor score of the day after the game took a dramatic turnaround.
