Blinkered

So, you aren't allowed to knock Neitz, who runs Demonland? Neitzs mum, no bloody wonder Melbourne are crap at the moment its because of blinkered people looking through rose coloured glasses at many of our players.

Don't go there. The thread will be shut down in a heart beat! I learnt that last night. It's blashemy to bash Neitz here. Just walk away now.

You can criticize anyone you like, just make sure you do so tactfully, and with due respect.

The reason I locked the David Neitz thread last night, was because everyone was upset, and it showed in their replies. It serves no purpose to have posters abusing one another.

I really didn't feel like having to edit every second reply, especially when there were so many other posts that needed editing.

If you have issues with the way I moderated, I guess you can take it up with the other moderators. If they deem it appropriate, they will reopen the thread.

Criticize who you like, it's a free country. Just do it in a tasteful and respectful manner, within the rules of the site and there won't be an issue. It's not that hard.

If people disagree with your opinion, though, they'll tell you about it. That's what happens when you put "out there" opinions out there.

So what was the issue?

Neitz wasn't being vocal enough from the bench? You don't think perhaps he was busy keeping the bottom half of his leg attached to the rest of his body?

Demonique, maggotbasher. Run along.

Neitz is a GREAT MFC player and has been a fantastic captain for many years now. Who would you prefer looking at the rest of the league? Buckley? Vandenberg? Whitnall? King? Cousins? Simpson? And who on the current dees list would make a better skipper? Not everyone can be a Hird/Riccuito/Johnson. Neitz is in the top 8 of current captains and you're coming out and having a go at him? Fair dinkum what a bunch of trolls.

Have all the opinions you like maggotbasher, you only need to hit that "add reply" button for uneducated, trolling garbage to come spewing forth. Go back to whatever primary school you went to and spread your filth there, where it belongs. Or better yet, go and follow Richmond, I'm sure you'll fit in beautifully at Puntroadend where they eat their own.

The demons need all the supporters they can get. But in your case, we can do without.

Neitz is MFC. We are MFC. With an attitude like that towards one of our favourite sons you do nothing but get in the way, and give us a bad name. Go somewhere else and leave the MFC talk to MFC supporters. Troll.

Jaded, Nasher. Ban me if you feel you must. It was well worth it. SOMEONE has to say what needs to be said.

True MFC people dont have to resort to personal abuse! This applies equally to new and seasoned posters -- Jibes such as telling people to go back to primary school or talk of another club's supporters eating their own are the sort of unwelcome filth you are complaining of DMajik. So like the players the posters need to lift their game too.

When the MFC is playing as poorly as they have so far this year no one is exempt from criticism BUT equally we mustnt turn on each other personally!! Our collective voice as true passionate Demone people is needed to have a positive influence on the MFC during this year. We MUST make sure that some sound decisions are made so that the MFC gets on right track and goes forward both on and off the field!

Couldn't have said it any better!

Neitz is a genuine champion!

The guy has been a true star for our club, and his performances have hardly waned the longer his career has gone on.

I have no problem with criticism when it's due.......but David Neitz.........come on guys be sensible!

Of players and officials. People who have more on the line than their on-line reputations. When a poster writes tripe like the above I am prepared to be banned, so long as my point is made regarding the garbage they write.

In this case, fight fire with fire. They're allowed to make outlandish statements and are told off and have their threads closed but still viewed, and NO-ONE can fight back for fear of pissing the mods off. Like I said, I absolve them of any blame regarding a temporary banning. Dish them out as they see fit.

I, and many like me, am sick of MFC "fans" getting on here and picking apart players who are so beyond guilt you have to be blind and deaf not to be able to see how blameless they are.

If it temporarily costs me my posting rights here, then like I said, well worth it. SOMEONE has to do it mate.

Otherwise, good post.

Pretty subjective. I'm sure I've seen others claim that Godfrey doesn't deserve any criticism because he tries, and anyone who criticises him is 'eating our own'. Ditto criticisms of ND. Just because you think that X is beyond guilt doesn't necessarily make it so, and I'm not sure that questioning someone's loyalty to the club because they have a different viewpoint is the way to go.

For what it's worth I've been more frustrated by years of overhearing MFC supporters talk about how good Neitz is at shooting for goal, particularly a few years back when it was if anything a liability, and certainly not something to highlight as a talent.

MFC lose and people come on here to vent. The captain and coach are generally a big target. Deal with it. Let the mods do their job and don't fall to the level of others by personally attacking them.

Everyone here is missing the point.

You can criticise whoever you like, even our captain.

As far as I'm concerned, it's not who you criticise, but how you do it. Be mindful of that fact that a lot of people are reading your opinions and it is unacceptable to get personal, be it with players, coaches or fellow posters.

Basically all we want is for you to think before your post. As I said, nothing wrong with criticising our captain (maybe there is, but everyone is entitled to their opinion), the reason the thread was locked was because the responses were abusive and pointless.

    DEFUSE THE BOMBERS by Meggs

Last Saturday’s crushing loss to Fremantle, after being three goals ahead at three quarter time, should be motivation enough to bounce back for this very winnable Round 5 clash at Windy Hill. A first-time venue for the Melbourne AFLW team, this should be a familiar suburban, windy, footy environment for the players.   Essendon were brave and competitive last week against ladder leader Adelaide at Sturt’s home ground. A familiar name, Maddison Gay, was the Bombers best player with

    BLOW THE SIREN by Meggs

Fremantle hosted the Demons on a sunny 20-degree Saturdayafternoon winning the toss and electing to defend in the first quarter against the 3-goal breeze favouring the Parry Street end. There was method here, as this would give the comeback queens, the Dockers, last use of the breeze. The Melbourne Coach had promised an improved performance, and we did start better than previous weeks, winning the ball out of the middle, using the breeze advantage and connecting to the forwards.

    GETAWAY by Meggs

Calling all fit players. Expect every available Melbourne player to board the Virgin cross-continent flight to Perth for this Round 4 clash on Saturday afternoon at Fremantle Oval. It promises to be keenly contested, though Fremantle is the bookies clear favourite.  If we lose, finals could be remoter than Rottnest Island especially following on from the Dees 50-point dismantlement by North Melbourne last Sunday.  There are 8 remaining matches, over the next 7 weeks.  To Meggs’

    DRUBBING by Meggs

With Casey Fields basking in sunshine, an enthusiastic throng of young Demons fans formed a guard of honour for the evergreen and much admired 75-gamer Paxy Paxman. As the home team ran out to play, Paxy’s banner promised that the Demons would bounce back from last week’s loss to Brisbane and reign supreme.   Disappointingly, the Kangaroos dominated the match to win by 50 points, but our Paxy certainly did her bit.  She was clearly our best player, sweeping well in defence.

    GARNER STRENGTH by Meggs

In keeping with our tough draw theme, Week 3 sees Melbourne take on flag favourites, North Melbourne, at Casey Fields this Sunday at 1:05pm.  The weather forecast looks dry, a coolish 14 degrees and will be characteristically gusty.  Remember when Casey Fields was considered our fortress?  The Demons have lost two of their past three matches at the Field of Dreams, so opposition teams commute down the Princes Highway with more optimism these days.  The Dees held the highe

    ALLY’S FIELDS by Meggs

It was a sunny morning at Casey Fields, as Demon supporters young and old formed a guard of honour for fan favourite and 50-gamer Alyssa Bannan.  Banno’s banner stated the speedster was the ‘fastest 50 games’ by an AFLW player ever.   For Dees supporters, today was not our day and unfortunately not for Banno either. A couple of opportunities emerged for our number 6 but alas there was no sizzle.   Brisbane atoned for last week’s record loss to North Melbourne, comprehensively out

    GOOD MORNING by Meggs

If you are driving or training it to Cranbourne on Saturday, don’t forget to set your alarm clock. The Melbourne Demons play the reigning premiers Brisbane Lions at Casey Fields this Saturday, with the bounce of the ball at 11:05am.  Yes, that’s AM.   The AFLW fixture shows deference to the AFL men’s finals games.  So, for the men it’s good afternoon and good evening and for the women it’s good morning.     The Lions were wounded last week by 44 points, their highest ever los

    HORE ON FIRE by Meggs

The 40,000 seat $319 million redeveloped Kardinia Park Stadium was nowhere near capacity last night but the strong, noisy contingent of Melbourne supporters led by the DeeArmy journeyed to Geelong to witness a high-quality battle between two of the best teams in AFLW.   The Cats entered the arena to the blasting sounds of Zombie Nation and made a hot start kicking the first 2 goals. They brought tremendous forward half pressure, and our newly renovated defensive unit looked shaky.

    REMATCH by Meggs

The Mighty Demons take on the confident Cats this Saturday night at the recently completed $319 million redeveloped GMHBA Stadium, with the bounce of the ball at 7:15pm. Our last game of 2023 was an agonisingly close 5-point semi-final loss to Geelong, and we look forward to Melbourne turning the tables this week. Practice match form was scratchy for both teams with the Demons losing practice matches to Carlton and Port Adelaide, while the Cats beat Collingwood but then lost to Essendo
