Enough is Enough!!!

 As my heading states enough is enough! I know its only round one but what I witnessed on Friday nite was the same manner that we have been lossing since Daniher arrived in 1998. The team leaders continue to go missing when it gets tough and their mental toughnes still remains an issue. We continue to hear the same old excuses from Daniher but yet nothing changes year in year out but yet our list of players has changed what is the problem? Is it the fact our current crop of so called leaders Yze, Green, Bruce, Robertson, Johnstone are not good leaders? Or maybey the fact that Daniher style or methods are just not working with these group of players anymore. Our skill level of players as demonstrated can be very good however I just dont think that daniher can get the boys up to play when it counts. We have a small window open to maybey win a premiership with these players and I along with many other members have had enough of seeing and hearing the same old excuses from Daniher. I really think its time for a change after 10 years with some fresh ideas and a new face for these players because it just seems that nothing changes year in year out. The last three years the players have blown finishing top four and the mental toughness cannot be fixed within the team and Daniher just cant seem to stop the slide.

I agree.....Friday night was bloody damn frustrating!

It isn't so much the loss, but more the manner in which we lost.

We truly can't play much worse!

Gerard Healy mentioned the same thing this afternoon when asked.

He said that the Demons would not be able to sustain that game plan all year and actually win.

He said something had to change and fast.

But he also said that if it did he had no doubt we would make the eight.

To be honest, the saints were not that good. We were 2 men down, and many of our key players had stinkers. Add in a poor game plan (over using the ball via hand) and a stinker with the umps and you have the formula for a sour defeat.

A change of plan , 2 fresh players in the rotation, and an increase of work from some top tier players and we should have a formula to win.

We're more likely to win a premiership in 4+ years than in the next few. Our backline is suspect and key backs don't grow on trees. We also lack a decent ruck duo, with White on the decline and Jamar/PJ looking like they'll be decent at best.

I a gree Daniher has not got what it takes to get them across the line. the list at the moment is proberly the best its everbeen with all the talent and yet we play stupid football The time is now no excuses 10 years and he wants more . What happens when neitz, white, yze, bizzel retire then we will all hear we're in a rebuilding phase 5year plan AGAIN.This season so far seams to be the game plan of Neil Balme just before he was sacked. It makes me sick to watch crap like friday's game go b ack to attacking footy and having a fairdinkin crack. IT'S TIME TO DELIVER DANIHER OR GET OUT AND LET SOMEONE WHO CAN.

Its all about having that killer instinct. As long as we dont have it we will never be good enough. I dont know whether its a club culture thing or a coach thing but time and time again we give it up with out a wimper. So many times you can tell in the first 15 mins that we are in deep [censored], and none of our leaders stand up and scream THIS ISNOT GOOD ENOUGH. even playing the [censored] teams your never comferdent because you never know what state of mind the players will be in but you know damn well the oppasition will be coming hard as nails coase they know how fradgile we can be. This leaves us vunerable at the best of times,re-carlton last year and several other [censored] teams in previous years, not to mention melt downs late in the year when they look like success is a bad thing. If we stayed in the right frame of mind for a large part of each game our talent would over come many a good side. Isnt this why we play competative sport in the first place, to be desperate enough to beat the oppistion,

WHAT EVER IT TAKES!

Interesting first round - the teams that over possess lose more often - players drilled not to kick to a contest and therefore look to lay off to a loose player. The more times you touch it the more chances you have to stuff it up. Ask Melbourne, Richmond, Hawthorn, Kangaroos and Freeo for that matter.

Given the new rules about no hands in the back, I think the long kick to a one on one or over the pack to a run on (like Pagan's paddock) will come back in.

I might be old fashioned but give me a simple game plan - and one that doesn't have our players (who aren't as skilled as the top four clubs) over possessing.

Remember it's only round 1

agree the more basic plan the better and easier it is to play it and play it well, its a basic game, made hard by idiots

  • REPORT: Port Adelaide

Of course, it’s not the backline, you might argue and you would probably be right. It’s the boot studder (do they still have them?), the midfield, the recruiting staff, the forward line, the kicking coach, the Board, the interchange bench, the supporters, the folk at Casey, the head coach and the club psychologist  It’s all of them and all of us for having expectations that were sufficiently high to have believed three weeks ago that a restoration of the Melbourne team to a position where we might still be in contention for a finals berth when the time for the midseason bye arrived. Now let’s look at what happened over the period of time since Melbourne overwhelmed the Sydney Swans at the MCG in late May when it kicked 8.2 to 5.3 in the final quarter (and that was after scoring 3.8 to two straight goals in the second term).

  • CASEY: Essendon

Casey’s unbeaten run was extended for at least another fortnight after the Demons overran a persistent Essendon line up by 29 points at ETU Stadium in Port Melbourne last night. After conceding the first goal of the evening, Casey went on a scoring spree from about ten minutes in, with five unanswered majors with its fleet of midsized runners headed by the much improved Paddy Cross who kicked two in quick succession and livewire Ricky Mentha who also kicked an early goal. Leading the charge was recruit of the year, Riley Bonner while Bailey Laurie continued his impressive vein of form. With Tom Campbell missing from the lineup, Will Verrall stepped up to the plate demonstrating his improvement under the veteran ruckman’s tutelage. The Demons were looking comfortable for much of the second quarter and held a 25-point lead until the Bombers struck back with two goals in the shadows of half time. On the other side of the main break their revival continued with first three goals of the half. Harry Sharp, who had been quiet scrambled in the Demons’ first score of the third term to bring the margin back to a single point at the 17 minute mark and the game became an arm-wrestle for the remainder of the quarter and into the final moments of the last.

  • POSTGAME: Port Adelaide

The Demons simply did not take their opportunities when they presented themselves and ultimately when down by 25 points effectively ending their finals chances. Goal kicking practice during the Bye?
