Significant here is also the delisting of the failed Oscar Macdonald project,

If only we didnt embark on this, we'd have also kept Frosty

To be fair 'bin', Brian is still trying to get the players names right...I mean they only have big numbers on their backs and they all have a different gait and approach at the footy.

Once he sorts this out he will then move on to rules of the game, which he still really struggles with.

Then he's got anatomy...doesn't seem to be able to tell the difference between a twisted ankle and a head knock.

This of course doesn't stop him from giving medical opinions that the player in question should be back on soon.

So then 'bin' he can start to deal with strategy and stats...

I pressed the react button but then found myself torn between the laughing and crying emojis. You’re so right.

In 1965 the match against St Kilda was the 9 round and 2 of our major defenders left the club Brian Roet and Trevor Johnson to pursue their Jobs Overseas both were in exceptional form and never could be replaced.

Brian was the CHB and Trevor was in the BP covering the Rucks, we also lost McLean to Carlton who was playing CHB.

Late we lost Tony Anderson later and Brian Leahy.

The MFC defence never recovered fron these loss in 1965.

I agree?

Did not think we would be reading threads like this.

Remember when May came and was acused of being unfit and unprofessional?

Or Lever being very inconsistent?

Last year Adam T looked very shaky.

So ok , not sure about the mighty Jetta who hasnt been his old self but wow talk about turn around.

May is now the best defender in the comp no doubt about it.

Lever has shown why we got him with his intercept marking, reading of play, attack on the ball and great leadership.

Hunt has been a revelation.

Gus is back to his old self.

Rivers is going from strength to strength and his confidence is showing

And Hibberd played his best game last week even though it was his first for the year.

I do know this has been the best Ive seen in the last 30 years.

And it's just the start of a defence type dynasty with a couple of others on the way when we get the odd injury or suspension!

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
