Demonland Player of the Year - Round 14

Featured Replies

Not enough love for melksham. Was in everything early won some key 1v1s and his speed and gut running was crucial to the many over the back goals that kept us in it. Plus slotted his own. Quietly building into good form, looks a better player with a very clear role that plays to his strengths.

Extraordinary.  There weren't 11 better players for the Demons last night than Dom Tyson.

The votes on here sometimes throw up some interesting results. Pedo out-voting  Gawn also surprised me... But then if you go around the press results there are sometimes some odd results there too, so in that respect DL is no different...

Just couldn't fit him in. He wad close and thats 3 good scalps in a row Pendles Johanisen and Hurn. No doubt the Footy department will be fully aware of how valuable he has been

I think sometimes it's the primacy/recency effect. Primacy - players that dominate the beginning of a game; Recency - players who are noticed for what they do in the last quarter.

Pedersen had no impact in the first three quarters, but his last quarter was fantastic. Hence, recency effect leading to votes.

Hint: If you're a job-seeker, try to be either the first of last interviewed. Primacy/recency works a treat.

  • DRAFT: The Next Generation

It was not long after the announcement that Melbourne's former number 1 draft pick Tom Scully was departing the club following 31 games and two relatively unremarkable seasons to join expansion team, the Greater Western Giants, on a six-year contract worth about $6 million, that a parody song based on Adele's hit "Someone Like You" surfaced on social media. The artist expressed lament over Scully's departure in song, culminating in the promise, "Never mind, we'll find someone like you," although I suspect that the undertone of bitterness in this version exceeded that of the original.

  • AFLW REPORT: Brisbane

A steamy Springfield evening set the stage for a blockbuster top-four clash between two AFLW heavyweights. Brisbane, the bookies’ favourites, hosted Melbourne at a heaving Brighton Homes Arena, with 5,022 fans packing in—the biggest crowd for a Melbourne game this season. It was the 11th meeting between these fierce rivals, with the Dees holding a narrow 6–4 edge. But while the Lions brought the chaos and roared loudest, the Demons aren’t done yet.
