A recently released movie, based on the book, has already grossed half a billion dollars! (Stars Ryan Gosling)

I’ve heard that the film is a little disappointing. I’ll still watch it once it hits the streaming platforms though. I’ll grab the book in the meantime, so thanks for the reminder.

The genre divides opinion. IMDB rating of 8.4 with close on 200,000 reviews (the movie)

Book $14 at retail outlets ... a cheap purchase for the 2021 best selling sci-fi book

@hardtack

Converting the book to a movie would be quite the task. I feel like they'd have to leave a fair portion of the book to the wayside

I won't go into detail but if you do get a copy to read, you'll probably see what I mean

Many of the reviews of the film describe it as a Dark Comedy but also as Epic Sci-fi, which I'm thinking will suit your taste!

Anyway, how are holding up with your treatment?

Is anybody reading anything interesting?

If you are interested in Soviet/Russian history have a crack at the works of Sheila Fitzpatrick; very readable and informative.

Sheila has certainly churned out a number of books ... especially re Russia & the Soviets

Her latest book (The Death of Stalin) looks interesting

I’ll definitely give both the book and the movie a go, thanks Macca!

Treatment is going along ok… had a CT scan yesterday so we can see how the traces in the lungs and liver are travelling, and to see if the main colorectal tumour has grown or shrunk… all the blood test results are looking pretty good, but they’re probably just half the picture, I suspect.

It was great to be able to do our gig a couple of weeks ago, and my donations shout out managed to raise $1k for the Cancer Council of NSW, which was a good result.

  • PREVIEW: Brisbnae

    They really had me fooled when I picked them with great confidence to beat the Bombers at Gather Round last week. I should have recognised that nothing is more quintessentially Melbourne than defeating the undefeated early premiership favourite one week and losing to a winless cellar dweller on its way to establishing a record losing streak the next.
