Disagree SWYL. I reckon they have put in 4 pretty good quarters. Had a crack, just not good enough. But we will beat more sides playing like today than we beat last year. Couple need to be looked at but a bit of luck and who knows.

who did; & who didn't, that need to be rested on their efforts?

What did you see in this game?
I saw the following

Negatives

Outside our Control
Pathetic umpiring
Weather and Bias commentators
Within our control
Lack of Accuracy at goal
Lack of commitment by a few at the ball
Lack of experience and lack of talking in some instances

Positives
Endeavor
Commitment by many at the ball
A bit of Mongrel in the team
Last but not least, a huge change in attitude towards being behind on the scoreboard
Fighting and running out a game out without capitulating towards the end and for a change showing a bit of pride in the jumper even more so considering the conditions

Obviously, I'm Not Happy with the result !

But at least I'm not embarrassed enough to want to crawl under the Blanket and hide from the world like on previous occasions.

At least I feel our Guys this time haven't embarrassed the jumper ,club or the supporters with their commitment .

i don't think we can play watts next week. as overly criticised as he is - it must be SO HARD to be third lead-up forward at melbourne - we need another runner to push up and move through the midfield.

i don't know what we're going to do with him. talented but insipid, better than what he's worth on the open market, i just don't know where he fits.

a trade like for like DA

talented & soffit for talented & soffit = yarran?

Can anyone identify how we have been able to get the jump on opponents two weeks in a row & then capitulate after quarter time?

I said it earlier but I think the style of game we're trying to implement is EXTREMELY taxing. The way we dominated the first quarter was impressive with hard two way running but I don't think we have the tanks to run out a full game with this type of game plan. The rain probably helped us today in this regard as it kept the game contested which allowed us to work hard inside. If it was a dry day I get the feeling the Crows would've ran over us using their pace/skill on the outside.

Interesting to see if we're able to improve on this and run out some games with this style of play for 4 quarters. We showed in the first quarter today and last week that if we can play the game on our terms we will dominate sides but we need to be able to do it over a full game.

ask Dave Misson

hes been at the club 4 years and seems to have done nothing to bring the team up to AFL fitness levels, but somehow he is immune from criticism

I can't say whether Misson has done a good job or not - but how many of our players, particularly those playing today, have been there for 4 years?

Veteran Demonland Trackwatchers Kev Martin, Slartibartfast & Demon Wheels were on hand at Gosch's Paddock to kick off the official first training session for the 1st to 4th year players with a few elder statesmen in attendance as well. KEV MARTIN'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Beautiful morning. Joy all round, they look like they want to be there.  21 in the squad. 2024 Player Reviews: #1 Steven May

The years are rolling by but May continued to be rock solid in a key defensive position despite some injury concerns. He showed great resilience in coming back from a nasty rib injury and is expected to continue in that role for another couple of seasons. 2024 Player Reviews: #4 Judd McVee

It was another strong season from McVee who spent most of his time mainly at half back but he also looked at home on a few occasions when he was moved into the midfield. There could be more of that in 2025. 2024 Player Reviews: #3 Christian Salem

The luckless Salem suffered a hamstring injury against the Lions early in the season and, after missing a number of games, he was never at his best. He was also inconvenienced by minor niggles later in the season. This was a blow for the club that sorely needed him to fill gaps in the midfield at times as well as to do his best work in defence.
