With the AFL starting earlier in season 2014, the VFL cannot, due to the lack of availability of grounds.

Basically means that players not selected will not get game time to press for selection. Not known if non Victorian clubs will face similar situations.

No games in Adelaide on Adelaide Oval until round 2, pretty sure they only use the ground sporadically at best - they have their own grounds in the suburbs.

I imagine the WAFL and NEAFL is the same.

Nab Challenge 1 v Richmond: Feb 14 - I'd suggest we go with players 6 to 30 available (leave out top 5)

Nab Challenge 2 v Geelong (TIO): Feb 28: Best 25 available

Round 1: March 22

Round 2: March 30

Round 3: April 6

VFL Round 1: April 5-6

Interesting gaps exist there. I expect the VFL to have practice matches in round 1 and 2 of the AFL season. But not sure they will have one before round 1 of the AFL season.

The nab challenge match in Alice Springs will be vital for guys pressing their chance for round 1. For those not clearly in the best 22 they would want to play well in that match.

Not sure how Casey Fields is used, and whether it is available to them. Perhaps they may be able to get game time there combining the Casey and MFC lists, and get proper match practice.
