Craig Set to Leave

Featured Replies

I heard he didnt want to continue. Unless he got a nudge. if he walked I cant see why need to pay him out.

I'm just joining the dots, I dont know the fully story, or what was written in the contract, or any disussions prior him leaving.

If he got a payout that is entitlled to him good for him. I only hope we arent throwing more dollars away.

And just re-read my comment. IF made redundant..... OTHERWISE we owe him nothing, in other words, if his position was redundant he gets paid out. (as anyone would) if thats NOT the case, he quit, walked out he shouldnt get the balance of the remaining contract.

BUT we both dont know how that contract was worded, or the all the facts yet. If he packed up and walked, I cant see how he gets a full payout.

Why make a comment about it when you don't know what's happening?

If he is like most people if you were to "walk away" from a contract with another party where it's clear that the completion of the contract is frustrated by events then both parties negotiate a settlement of the contract. Given he was keen to coach and has not secured another role then it's ridiculous to think he would walk away from a significant financial settlement.

Why do you do the same? Because it was my concern that the MFC are paying out all this money, when they dont need too.

If Craig is was entitled to it, that's fine with me, he did a great job. I'm against payouts for the hell of it and I expressed my opinion. Certainly you or anyone else wont stop me from doing that. We all know your track record. But if you or anyone can add value with some facts to get the whole story out there, all well and good.

And your opening line is correct, it is just a comment, never did I state it as fact.

If I had heard the story from joe blogs at the local, while having a few beers, who knew someone that heard the conversation, between PJ and Craig then we can take it as fact

You haven't established a plausible premise for your position that MFC don't have to.

And no one is planning to pay gratuities but the restructure will lead to payouts and Craig, nice bloke that he seems to be, will be one of those costs.

Let's deal in certainties - he hasn't left yet, we don't know how he will leave if he does leave, PJ has already stated his contract will be honoured.

The rest is supposition.

  • PREVIEW: St. Kilda

It seems like only yesterday that these two sides faced off against each other in the centre of the continent. It was when Melbourne was experiencing a rare period of success with five wins from its previous six matches including victories over both of last year’s grand finalists.  Well, it wasn’t yesterday but it was early last month and it remains etched clearly in the memory. The Saints were going through a slump and the predicted outcome of their encounter at TIO Traeger Park was a virtual no-brainer. A Melbourne victory and another step closer to a possible rise into finals contention. Something that was unthinkable after opening the season with five straight defeats.

  • REPORT: Carlton

I am now certain that the decline in fortunes of the Melbourne Football Club from a premiership power with the potential for more success to come in the future, started when the team ran out for their Round 9 match up against Carlton last year. After knocking over the Cats in a fierce contest the week before, the Demons looked uninterested at the start of play and gave the Blues a six goal start. They recovered to almost snatch victory but lost narrowly with a score of 11.10.76 to 12.5.77. Yesterday, they revisited the scene and provided their fans with a similar display of ineptitude early in the proceedings. Their attitude at the start was poor, given that the game was so winnable. Unsurprisingly, the resulting score was almost identical to that of last year and for the fourth time in succession, the club has lost a game against Carlton despite having more scoring opportunities.

  • CASEY: Carlton

The Casey Demons smashed the Carlton Reserves off the park at Casey Fields on Sunday to retain a hold on an end of season wild card place. It was a comprehensive 108 point victory in which the home side was dominant and several of its players stood out but, in spite of the positivity of such a display, we need to place an asterisk over the outcome which saw a net 100 point advantage to the combined scores in the two contests between Demons and Blues over the weekend.
