Recruitment

Mark Sheehan, host of the TAC Future Stars show, would be worthy of concidering for a recruitment roal at Melbourne in my opinion. This is an area the MFC have neglected for years and its time to put some serious focus on it. Getting the right kids is essentual to building a strong team. The MFC Coach + Mark Sheehan should work toghether on building this team. Mark Sheehan to analise the draftee/recruitment list at draft level, VFL or AFL recuitment with constant feedback to the coach who is indicating to him the sort of players the team is lacking during the year (midfielders for the focus of 2012). Add Viney + James McDonald as development coaches.

Firstly, his name is Kevin. Secondly, "analising" the list sounds pretty painful

Alternatively we could hire the Collingwood 2IC of recruiting, someone who has expertise in that regard... oh wait that's what we did!

Last time I checked Shifter Sheehan is involved in identifying talent to get into the under 18 program. Finding the kids from alternative sports or very good athletes who are worth a look at. That's not the same thing as recruiting for an AFL club.

  • DRAFT: The Next Generation

It was not long after the announcement that Melbourne's former number 1 draft pick Tom Scully was departing the club following 31 games and two relatively unremarkable seasons to join expansion team, the Greater Western Giants, on a six-year contract worth about $6 million, that a parody song based on Adele's hit "Someone Like You" surfaced on social media. The artist expressed lament over Scully's departure in song, culminating in the promise, "Never mind, we'll find someone like you," although I suspect that the undertone of bitterness in this version exceeded that of the original.

  • AFLW REPORT: Brisbane

A steamy Springfield evening set the stage for a blockbuster top-four clash between two AFLW heavyweights. Brisbane, the bookies’ favourites, hosted Melbourne at a heaving Brighton Homes Arena, with 5,022 fans packing in—the biggest crowd for a Melbourne game this season. It was the 11th meeting between these fierce rivals, with the Dees holding a narrow 6–4 edge. But while the Lions brought the chaos and roared loudest, the Demons aren’t done yet.
