The good news is that history shows us that good midfielders take much less time to come on ,and are in fact, easier to find.

That we have our spine all but completed with seriously good players, means that our rise can be quite dramatic and quite quick once we are able to find and develop those extra mids we need.

We must have seriously cocked it up the last six years then Jaded.

Yes yes we did OD. No need to drag the list of possibles that we could have drafted instead of those that we did. We all know that we have made some seriously bad calls in the drafting department. But hopefully there is a rainbow at the end of the storm and Todd Viney, Jaon Taylor with input from Neil Craig can sort out our drafting. Neeld had already addressed some of things in last years draft, but missed Ollie (not too concerned about that as I think we have a player in Toumpas) another year of good drafting and the tide will turn

not sure where to put this post

2 months ago people were saying there were no young kids at our games and the support base was ageing

not from what I saw on the weekend, young ones all over the joint in there dee gear

also I listened to the interview after the ess game and the player inter mated somwthing I may have misheard, but it sounded like

we will stick with him until the end comes

might be wrong but found that comment interesting

also sunday morning on the insiders ABC 1030

gerard whateley expressed a concern that the afl will have to strip the club of all points and ban the players for 2 years , this had to be done to prevent further damage to our game in the future

its the first afl person to make such comments

Jazza It maybe they way you have put it but Gerard Whately is not an AFL person is he?

I still think they will get off with little penalty

  • THE STATS FILES: St. Kilda

As part of the effort to trim the runtime of the regular podcast, we’ve been looking at which segments could be reshaped without losing what makes them valuable. One segment that naturally came into focus was Binman’s Stats Files. Not because it isn’t important; quite the opposite. It’s become such a substantial and much-loved part of the show that it deserves a little room to breathe.

  • REPORT: St. Kilda

One of the big stories of the AFL off-season was the spending spree of Melbourne’s Round 1 opponent, St Kilda. They splashed out heavily, first to retain Nasiah Wanganeen-Milera - the hero of last year’s epic come-from-behind miracle victory -turning him into a $2 million man. They then effectively took out an expensive overdraft to recruit a string of expensive players from other clubs. It was a risky investment strategy and, although it’s still early days, it certainly failed to pay off in Sunday’s season opener, with much of the glitter turning to fool’s gold.
