Free Agency compensation picks

So if beamer rivers and bate all get optioned and we only pick up lynch to stand at the top of the goal square to create crumbs we get a 2nd round pick straight after the one we use for viney ((hopefully)? Because that would mean we effectively get a top 10 draftee for free..

Wishful thinking or realistic possibility?

Possibly.

But if we lose three players and get one I EXPECT to get two picks.

I have 'expect' capitalised because no reporter seems to want to definitively write about it - they sort write on little bits of it but not the whole thing.

I can just see the AFL pulling this out of their arse in October and making it up aas they go...

It is the net cumulative effect on your list. Designed by the AFL to assist lower finishing sides if they were to lose players.

Moloney goes, and we get no other free agents, what do we expect to receive? To me a pick after our second round pick would be a win for the club, on the trade market we wouldn't get pick 23-25 for Moloney, but free agency we might.

  • DRAFT: The Next Generation

It was not long after the announcement that Melbourne's former number 1 draft pick Tom Scully was departing the club following 31 games and two relatively unremarkable seasons to join expansion team, the Greater Western Giants, on a six-year contract worth about $6 million, that a parody song based on Adele's hit "Someone Like You" surfaced on social media. The artist expressed lament over Scully's departure in song, culminating in the promise, "Never mind, we'll find someone like you," although I suspect that the undertone of bitterness in this version exceeded that of the original.

  • AFLW REPORT: Brisbane

A steamy Springfield evening set the stage for a blockbuster top-four clash between two AFLW heavyweights. Brisbane, the bookies’ favourites, hosted Melbourne at a heaving Brighton Homes Arena, with 5,022 fans packing in—the biggest crowd for a Melbourne game this season. It was the 11th meeting between these fierce rivals, with the Dees holding a narrow 6–4 edge. But while the Lions brought the chaos and roared loudest, the Demons aren’t done yet.
