THE WRITING ON THE WALL

So MFCSS is some kind of intricate insight into the future...

Precisely, a bleak and hollow future...

Like Terminator: Salvation.

Very good comments from Macca, Tonatopia and Jackie. A few others need to 'see' rather than 'look' at what is happening.

As an aside, I'm just enjoying the annual Legends game - funny how even the older players know how to 'run and spread' (albeit at slower speeds!) - could it be something to do with natural football skill rather than fancy 'game plans'.

Time to recognise that some people are very good at assistant/second tier level, but not up to the top level, and there is more than one coach in that position at the moment.

Just want to clarify a couple of things 'Hardnut' . At no stage have I ever called for Mark Neeld sacking and in fact , I really want the bloke to be successful at our Club .

However , After round 8 I did question our game plan and I stand by that . I haven't commented further since then , other than to mention (on this thread) that I believe any poster has the right to question or critique the Coach .

And just like any of our players , a critique of the Coach (or any of the coaching panel) should be done without resorting to demeaning comments or insults IMO .

Also to clarify Macca.

I agree entirely with your last para re 'demeaning comments etc' and I also would never intentionally make or support such comments.

I believe the appointment process of Mark Neeld was flawed and I question his performance as coach (nothing personal).

As an MFC supporter I would be rapt if we succeeded under any coach, but I haven't seen a hint of it for decades.

Yeah fair enough Hardnut . I just wanted to make sure that other posters knew my point of view . I respect yours and any other posters points of views yet I may not agree with them .

We all want the team to play better . Some just want to blame the players only - I don't agree with that .

A bit of a concern for me though is this 'Reward' for losing games (as in better placed draft picks) . It makes losing for some a lot easier . I generally don't like losing under any circumstances and better placed draft picks mean very little to me .

Therefore , what can happen , is you can end up debating heavy losses with people when you're not even close to being on the same page .

We should all hate losing - equally .

  • REPORT: St. Kilda

One of the big stories of the AFL off-season was the spending spree of Melbourne’s Round 1 opponent, St Kilda. They splashed out heavily, first to retain Nasiah Wanganeen-Milera - the hero of last year’s epic come-from-behind miracle victory -turning him into a $2 million man. They then effectively took out an expensive overdraft to recruit a string of expensive players from other clubs. It was a risky investment strategy and, although it’s still early days, it certainly failed to pay off in Sunday’s season opener, with much of the glitter turning to fool’s gold.
