Brisbane "How Good are they?"

Featured Replies

Neither - and I ask that you keep your abuse to yourself.

I saw what I saw.

Well you've just highlighted how stupid and ignorant your comment was. Clearly you don't actually watch the game, but rather just snippets of footage and then make ridiculous comments that are completely incorrect and highlight the fool that you are.

are you stupid or a pathological liar?

yes he did, it's not a matter of debate, it's a simple fact

I think he is just plain ignorant and only sees what he wants to see rather than what actually takes place...

I won't respond to your tirade, or inept way of discussion.

Rather, Cale Morton was a poor draft pick and that is a fact.

no go ahead and substantiate your comment please. If you were at the game and saw the incident you must have seen that he marked the ball which completely explaing the selective footage that appears he is running away.

so which is it mate did you see it or not?

I'm not justifying Morton's current situation in any way but I have no idea why our own supporters would deliberately perpetuate a myth that is totally untrue, and undeservedly paint the player as a complete peaheart

well if we were playing Carlton tomorrow I would be expecting an almighty flogging, put it that way. The mind boggles thinking how Judd and Murphy will destroy us, they are the champion midfielders you are supposed to draft and develop with picks in the top 3. They have a number of other stars all over the park as a result of their years in the doldrums, and are genuine flag contenders this year. Then there's us. With similar drafting gifts, albeit a couple of years behind, we have not been able to take advantage like they have. They got Kruezer in 2007 and we got Cale Morton who in his fifth year cannot even get a game in a truly ordinary side. There is no excuse for that, of course many simpletons here want to believe we picked the wrong bloke, even though it was widely recognised that he may have even been a no.1 pick that year as the top 5 was very strong - but Morton is at the wrong club, he would probably be running around dominating if the Blues had picked him instead of Kruezer. That is why we do not have one champion player on the list, it's because there is something wrong with our culture, our methods, our staff, I don't know what, it probably has a lot to do with money. The fact that Judd is their captain when he friggin barracked for us and could have gone anywhere is a fact that tells you everything you need to know about the big fish and little fish of modern footy. If anything exposes what a failure we are as a club it is the success of Carlton .

Just have a quick look at your post that paints the whole Club as a complete basket case. Cale Morton, unfortunately, will have that incident that will define him for a long time until he changes his attitude towards becoming a decent AFL footballer.

Incidentally, I just watched the 2009 game against West Coast and Morton caused a turnover in our backline three times in a row when he failed to hit a static target from 30 metres away.

You and I both know that he'll be lucky to stay on the list.

Look Jumbo, I hate Curry&Beer almost as much as Cale Morton, but he is actually correct on all points with this (aside from the abuse HE started which was pretty ordinary)... So far, Morton is a very ordinary footballer compared to his draft order, to suggest he would be a gun at another club is a bit of a stretch as it's such an unknown, but he's spot on about the MFC/Carlton comparison. None of us like to bag our club, we love it, and that's why were on here posting passionately, but the fact is that for the last 6 years we have flat out sucked and gone nowhere in our development on the field, while Carlton are looking at top 4 after steady development with very similar, if not lesser, drafting options.

In a nutshell, our development sucks, Morton has so far sucked, and I'm sure we all agree on that, but you've been sucked in a bit by vision of the incident in question and context is needed.

Granted, the worst case scenario was posted by yours truly and I acknowledge this - but like you said, it doesn't alter the fact that CM was a poor draft pick and our development even worse.

I suppose the only way is up.

Thanks for talking footy.

  • REPORT: Port Adelaide

Of course, it’s not the backline, you might argue and you would probably be right. It’s the boot studder (do they still have them?), the midfield, the recruiting staff, the forward line, the kicking coach, the Board, the interchange bench, the supporters, the folk at Casey, the head coach and the club psychologist  It’s all of them and all of us for having expectations that were sufficiently high to have believed three weeks ago that a restoration of the Melbourne team to a position where we might still be in contention for a finals berth when the time for the midseason bye arrived. Now let’s look at what happened over the period of time since Melbourne overwhelmed the Sydney Swans at the MCG in late May when it kicked 8.2 to 5.3 in the final quarter (and that was after scoring 3.8 to two straight goals in the second term).

  • CASEY: Essendon

Casey’s unbeaten run was extended for at least another fortnight after the Demons overran a persistent Essendon line up by 29 points at ETU Stadium in Port Melbourne last night. After conceding the first goal of the evening, Casey went on a scoring spree from about ten minutes in, with five unanswered majors with its fleet of midsized runners headed by the much improved Paddy Cross who kicked two in quick succession and livewire Ricky Mentha who also kicked an early goal. Leading the charge was recruit of the year, Riley Bonner while Bailey Laurie continued his impressive vein of form. With Tom Campbell missing from the lineup, Will Verrall stepped up to the plate demonstrating his improvement under the veteran ruckman’s tutelage. The Demons were looking comfortable for much of the second quarter and held a 25-point lead until the Bombers struck back with two goals in the shadows of half time. On the other side of the main break their revival continued with first three goals of the half. Harry Sharp, who had been quiet scrambled in the Demons’ first score of the third term to bring the margin back to a single point at the 17 minute mark and the game became an arm-wrestle for the remainder of the quarter and into the final moments of the last.

  • POSTGAME: Port Adelaide

The Demons simply did not take their opportunities when they presented themselves and ultimately when down by 25 points effectively ending their finals chances. Goal kicking practice during the Bye?
