Indiana's Lance Stephenson's choking action seems to have backfired bigtime .

Don't poke the bear , they say . King James and Wade have stepped up to the plate .

Boston at the Sixers tomorrow . (3-2) . The Celtics would love to clinch it to get a couple more days rest .

The Celtics couldn't get it done. They're missing Avery Bradley on the defensive end, not sure if he'll be back this season. That means there's been more pressure on Ray Allen, who's ankle NQR at the moment. They're back in Boston on sunday for game 7. Hopefully the Boston fans can give them the boost they need.

Haslem has been suspended for 1 game and Pittman for 3 games. Sounds about right, although the Pattman incident was pretty brutal. Pittman isn't much of a loss to Miami, but Haslem might be, he's had a few good games of late.

No game on saturday. I might have to get all my chores done then so I can sit back and relax with a few brewskis and watch sport all day. I can dream can't I?

It's getting like the Hockey ! Miami sending their 'Goons' out there to square up .

Bird has called his team out , labelling them soft . Expect some fireworks tomorrow at the Pacers house . ESPN 10am .

The Heat, or should I say LBJ & Wade, were too good for the Pacers. LBJ attacked Granger and made him largely ineffective after drawing so many fouls. Granger's injured ankle probably didn't help the cause much either.

The dynamic duo have monstered the last few games, collectively they've scored 197 of the Heat's 321 points in the last 3.

They get a few extra days break to wait and see who the go up against in the conference finals.

Boston, 76ers and a few beers before noon is the outlook for Sunday.

Geez , early start for you there JJ . 10am tipoff !!

I'm barely ready for coffee at that time ! Maybe as a "hair of the dog" , but those days are long gone !

Looking forward to game 7 of this series . Some say that Boston are too old to play 2 good games in a row . Hoping Boston get through cos that match-up with Miami would be a good one .

Cheers !!!

Boston got through in one hell of an ugly game. One of those games where defense set the tone.

Boston should be a good match up for the Heat (hopefully). A few commentators are calling it a bye for the Heat, but Boston are a proud team, they're gonna put up a fight.

Garnett's legs are starting to feel it. Had one of those embarrassing moments where he realised he couldn't quite get up for the dunk, didn't adjust in time and missed the hoop.

Yeah , wasn't much of a game . I think Boston might do ok but realistically if Miami get Bosh back by game 3 they should get through . Haven't heard the latest on Bosh . Games 1 and 2 are in Miami - just as well . If Boston can pinch one it could be a great series .

The Spurs are in action tomorrow in game 1 of the Western conference finals . 10.30am vs OKC . (ESPN) . Should be a cracker .

Game 1 is underway in the AT&T Centre, at work so only watching the live scores on the box score.

What say we for predictions on here?

I'm going 4-2 for my Spurs, their win streak is growing but every time we got to 11 or 12 in the regular

season we seemed to have a letdown game. Chalk up two at home before dropping one. All we need

is Manu Ginobili to fully find his rhythm.

In the East, I'm tipping Miami over Boston 4-1. Its a credit to the creaky Celtics that they've got this

far, but James & Wade will be hard to beat for youth and athleticism. They will need Bosh back in a hurry

though.

I'm tipping both series in 6 games. I'm hoping the Spurs get through, but I think the OKC will win. Miami over Boston.

Bit late with the tips but I was hoping for a Spurs series win - in 7 ? After todays win they could do it in 6 . Very classy come from behind win . Ginobili was terrific .

Miami in 6 . Boston would need to win 1 game in the 1st two games in order to have any chance . Once Bosh appears it should be all over . I do have a nagging doubt on Miami though and it would be better for the Spurs if Boston get through . The Spurs are rapidly becoming my favourite team .

Well , your Spurs were very impressive today . OKC made a bit of a run but San Antonio were too good . 2 nil up in the series . If the Spurs can get 1 win in Oklahoma City that might just do it . As it is the Thunder would have to win 4 of the next 5 to advance . Tall order .

Miami and Boston go at it again tomorrow . Boston need a win , big time ! 10.30am on ESPN . Bosh seems unlikely and the Heat may not have to use him in this series if all goes well .

My prediction is looking very amateurish (I resemble that!). Happy to be wrong though, Spurs have been awesome (Go Patty, give him some minutes)

Draft lottery today. Anyone got the results? When do they get released?

Edited by Jack Jack

The Hornets won the draft lottery. MJ would have to be a bit disappointed, for such a terrible season you'd want the reward of No. 1 pick, could be worse I guess, they got the second pick.

Washington 3rd, Cleveland 4th, Sacramento 5th.

Brooklyn Nets lose their pick, 6th overall, to Portland for the Gerald Wallace trade (It was top 3 protected I think).

GSW (Go Bogut) keep their 7th pick. Was traded to Utah but top 7 protected. Just scraped in.

Anthony Davis is widely regarded as the most likely no. 1 pick.

Interesting results with the lottery there JJ . Apparently it was on primetime tv , broadcast at 8pm before the hoops game between Miami and Boston - only in America !

Boston had their chances today but losing Pierce before the O/T was cruel . 2 nil down now and you'd reckon if Miami can win 1 of the 2 in Boston it could be 'All She Wrote' time .

Been watching most of these games on delay later at night on ESPN, which has been great. Even though knowing the result, its still good watching the machinations of the game.

It certainly seems all but a formality it will be Heat-Spurs now. If ever Boston were gonna sneak a win in Miami it was yesterday, a herculean effort from Rondo but still they couldnt get it done down South Beach way. The third cog in the big three wheel in Miami in Bosh is still not back, but they still keep rolling along.

Spurs were similarly convincing in their game 2 at home, in fact even more so. They were 20 odd points up at one stage, until a belated third Q comeback led predictably by Durant. The sheer depth of the Spurs roster after the pickups of Diaw and Jackson has meant they can easily cover if one of their stars has a bad night. They certainly run deeper than any of the other 3 teams right now.

The tables turned for the first home games for Boston and OKC today and tomorrow, the home fans will be rowdy and hungry for an opening win. I expect these two games to be very close.

As for the draft, after the season from hell the Bobcats had, they only end up with pick 2. Devastating that they wont get Davis, who has been the standout in the NCAA this year. His monobrow does scare me somewhat though.

Rondo was awesome in the last game. But what would it do for his confidence? There's not much more he could do and they still lost? Need more from their big 3.

OKC produced the game I was expecting to see a lot earlier. Spurs were a bit ugly though, over 20 turnovers.

On the bright side Patty got some minutes?

Haven't watched the highlights yet but that margin today was a bit hair-raising . If that's the Spurs bad one then so be it . Got it out of the way , so to speak . The next game on Sunday will tell a tale .

As for tomorrow's game , I think Boston might get a win in a close one . ESPN 10.30am .

Well , just like OKC , the Celtics have hit back hard in game 3 against the Heat . Leading 85 - 63 going into the 4th quarter they've been terrific .

A good all around performance vs mainly King James with 30 (so far) . All 4 of Boston's 'Name' players have done well . It's probably the only way they can win this series - Rondo , Allen , Pierce and Garnett all need to step up in every game IMO . They'll need to back it up in game 4 but if they do ...............

Edit no.1 - Miami have clawed their way back to 80 - 91 with 6.14 left !

Edit no.2 - Now 89 - 97 with 2.05 left . Surely not .

Edit no.3 - Boston end up winners 101 - 91 . TGFT !

Apparently only 6% of teams have won 7 game series' after being down 2 - nil . That's about once every 17 times . I think the Thunder could because they are a good consistant team . I would like Boston to be able to do it but am doubtful .

Boston are definitely a chance. Wade was off the boil again, Lebron keeps delivering but he can't do it alone.

I didn't see the game, Miami must have been on a huge run to get withing 8. How did that happen?

It's a weird thing with basketball , a team only needs to miss a couple of shots and have a turnover or 2 in a 2-3 minute period and suddenly 10 points are shaved off . And Miami have great scoring capacity so like a lot of good teams , they're not really out of games until it becomes absolutely obvious .

OKC win again , this time a lot closer but the pressure now goes back on the Spurs . I hope they can win game 5 because the Thunder look very strong at home (where game 6 will be played )

Tomorrow Boston and Miami go at it again . 10.30am ESPN . Boston have to win to stay alive IMO with game 5 in Miami . Miami lead the series 2-1

Boston wins game 4 ! Tense finish with James and Pierce both fouled out . 93-91 win to the Celtics in O/T . Boston went out to a big early lead . The big story will be Miami only scoring 2 points in overtime ! 2 points !

Boston's big 4 all played quite well . Pierce 23 , Garnett 17 , Allen 16 and Rondo 15 . James 29 and Wade 20 for Miami . Dwayne had a chance to win it on the buzzer but just missed . Off to Miami we go now for game 5 .

Both series locked at 2-2, heading back to the higher seeds home court. These two series have so many possibilities from here. Wow!

I think given the Celts have been only managing it in OT means the Heat have more upside, whereas I think OKC have more potential room

for upside in their series as well. Time will tell, Im so so busy at work but still trying to find time to sneak a look at the live updates!

Big win for OKC , the Spurs had their chances . It's going to be tough for San Antonio now but the pride this veteran list have can't be underestimated . I'm expecting game 6 to be a beauty . Spurs in a close one to force a game 7 .

As for tomorrow , the pressure may just get to Miami and if Boston have the energy levels they can win it in a boilover . I like an underdog so it's the Celtics for me in a cliff-hanger ! 10.30am ESPN .

Huge win for Boston!!

As a guy without a team I am pretty much just loving the teams left - Boston and SA, and hoping the Le Bron Wade and Russell Durant shows end in the Semis.

But I think Russell Durant will make it...

But Boston...

Here we go!

1 to go!

Pierce's 3!

  • CASEY: Geelong

There was a time in the second quarter of the game at the Cattery on Friday afternoon when the Casey Demons threatened to take the game apart against the Cats. The Demons had been well on top early but were struggling to convert their ascendancy over the ground until Tom Fullarton’s burst of three goals in the space of eight minutes on the way to a five goal haul and his best game for the club since arriving from Brisbane at the end of 2023. He was leading, marking and otherwise giving his opponents a merry dance as Casey grabbed a three goal lead in the blink of an eye. Fullarton has now kicked ten goals in Casey’s three matches and, with Melbourne’s forward conversion woes, he is definitely in with a chance to get his first game with the club in next week’s Gather Round in Adelaide. Despite the tall forward’s efforts - he finished with 19 disposals and eight marks and had four hit outs as back up to Will Verrall in the second half - it wasn’t enough as Geelong reigned in the lead through persistent attacks and eventually clawed their way to the lead early in the last and held it till they achieved the end aim of victory.

  • REPORT: Geelong

I was disappointed to hear Goody say at his post match presser after the team’s 39 point defeat against Geelong that "we're getting high quality entry, just poor execution" because Melbourne’s problems extend far beyond that after its 0 - 4 start to the 2025 football season. There are clearly problems with poor execution, some of which were evident well before the current season and were in play when the Demons met the Cats in early May last year and beat them in a near top-of-the-table clash that saw both sides sitting comfortably in the top four after round eight. Since that game, the Demons’ performances have been positively Third World with only five wins in 19 games with a no longer majestic midfield and a dysfunctional forward line that has become too easy for opposing coaches to counter. This is an area of their game that is currently being played out as if they were all completely panic-stricken.

Facing the very real and daunting prospect of starting the season with five straight losses, the Demons head to South Australia for the annual Gather Round, where they’ll take on the Bombers in search of their first win of the year. Who comes in, and who comes out?

  • NON-MFC: Round 04

Round 4 kicks off with a blockbuster on Thursday night as traditional rivals Collingwood and Carlton clash at the MCG, with the Magpies looking to assert themselves as early-season contenders and the Blues seeking their first win of the season. Saturday opens with Gold Coast hosting Adelaide, a key test for the Suns as they aim to back up their big win last week, while the Crows will be looking to keep their perfect record intact. Reigning wooden spooners Richmond have the daunting task of facing reigning premiers Brisbane at the ‘G and the Lions will be eager to reaffirm their premiership credentials after a patchy start. Saturday night sees North Melbourne take on Sydney at Marvel Stadium, with the Swans looking to build on their first win of the season last week against a rebuilding Roos outfit. Sunday’s action begins with GWS hosting West Coast at ENGIE Stadium, a game that could get ugly very early for the visitors. Port Adelaide vs St Kilda at Adelaide Oval looms as a interesting clash, with both clubs form being very hard to read. The round wraps up with Fremantle taking on the Western Bulldogs at Optus Stadium in what could be a fierce contest between two sides with top-eight ambitions. Who are you tipping this week and what are the best results for the Demons besides us winning?
