Ottowa out ! You'll be hoppin' into the top shelf over that result Grimesy ! Toronto partying ?

Devils win 3 - 2 and go through to the 2nd round . Wonder if "Puddy" was there with his mates . Oh , hang on , that's just in the tv show . Be funny if he actually was there all "painted up" . Anyways .......the one who started the comedy thread "Cards13" will be happy .

Who matches up with who now ?

Unfortunately the rivalry between Toronto and Ottawa isn't very strong anymore because it's been so long since we've been good enough to go further than them in the playoffs. Many Toronto fans will go for the team playing Ottawa, but more often than not you will find people are indifferent.

Picks for this round:

Blues in 6-- I'd like to see the Kings win but I'm not overly fussed.

Rangers in 6-- They need to contain Ovechkin/Semin/Backstrom but I think Lundqvist is worlds better than Holtby.

Predators in 5-- Should be too good.

Flyers in 5-- If Philadelphia can sort our their goaltending they should have no problems. Giroux and Co will be too much for NJ to handle.

Yeah , that hockey rivalry amongst Canadians fascinates me . I'm a little saddened that there aren't any Canadian teams in the last 8 . Such a religion over there yeah ?

Travelled through the "Rockies" with a bit of a crew in the early 90's . Wow , did we have a great time . Vancouver , Kamloops , Jasper , Edmonton , Banff , Calgary . God's own Country .

I read somewhere that it's the first time that there haven't been any Canadian teams in the final 8 since 1996. The rivalries seem to be much stronger within Canada than between any American teams or Canadian and American teams. That being said, the Boston/Vancouver rivalry has been brewing since they were in the final last year, and it's a shame that they don't play each other very often.

I've only been out to BC once. It's the most beautiful place I've ever been and I'd love to go back. Never been to Banff but some of the pictures I've seen of the place look incredible. I'd love to go on a trip to Lake Louise some time soon.

NYR won 3-1 today over Washington to go up 1-0.

Phoenix beat Nashville 4-3 in OT to also get a 1-0.

Blues and Kings in action in under an hour.

L.A. defeated St Louis 3 - 1 . Looks like the jinx is on .

Tomorrows games are Devils/Flyers (5am AEST) followed by Predators/Coyotes (on fox3 at 10am AEST) .

LA looks like they could be the surprise packet of the playoffs. They did very well to get both Carter and Richards while hanging on to Brown. It's all up to how well Quick can perform over the next month and a half.

Had a look at Nashville/Phoenix today on fox . 5 -3 win to the Coyotes . Excellent game and they now lead that series 2- 0 . In the other game the Flyers beat the Devils 4-3 to go 1 up in that series .

You've got the luxury 'GTG' of having all these games on when you can watch them hey ? Over here the evening games start from about 9am but "work" gets in the way . Damn it !

L.A swamp St Louis again . They win 5 - 2 after scoring 4 goals in the 1st period . They're now 2 nil up in that series . They're in hot form .

The Capitals are doing well , they beat the NY Rangers 3 - 2 to level the series at 1 all . Ovechkin scored the long range winner .

Just the 1 game tomorrow Devils/Flyers . On fox3 at 9.30am tomorrow . The Flyers lead the series 1 - 0 .

Shattered I am not able to watch too much of it all and missing tomorrow morns game. Rangers and Devils through. Can Dev's keep it close after such a long 1st series? Flyers looking really good overall. Watched 1st period of Coyot's game they are playing well too, and the Kings.... look out.

Yeah it's great over here, all the games on at convenient times and on multiple channels. It's a trade off though, I had to wake up at 5:30 the other day to watch the Dees and Saints, and when the games are in the afternoon I'm up until about 3am watching them.

The Kings are looking the goods at the moment. Looks like it'll be Kings-Coyotes in the Western Conference Finals...would be an interesting match up.

Washington did well to win a game on the road, they're in with a real chance now if Holtby can hold down the goaltending.

ggaaahhhh I hate being at work, another OT game!!! Come on Rangers, I don't really support Dev's or Rangers but would love to see them playing off in conference finals even though the Flyers look the better team than Devs.

And there it is Rangers in 3OT!

Amazing , that's nearly 2 whole games in one night . Got a feeling that Rangers/Capitals series will go to 7 .

Tomorrows live game is St Louis at LA . From noon on fox3 . If LA win this one it's gotta be shut the gate .

Edited by Macca

Got a feeling that who eve coems out of the East will get done easily in the Finals, some massive series on the East side

GGAAAHHH!!!! Another tied game deep into the last period! 3-3 Devils v Flyers!

NHL postseason is the best postseason on vurtually any sport in the world.

And L.A just keeps marching on with another win over St Louis 4 - 2 .

Who is gonna stop 'em ?

I think Macca just gave you your answer, Cards. The Kings look unstoppable so far, and they are getting it done in short series'. 5 games in round 1, round 2 could be over very soon for them. They will be less tired come the finals than the teams coming out of the East who will likely have played many more games than them.

LA has many scoring threats in Carter, Richards, Brown, Kopitar, Williams, Penner, Doughty...the list goes on. On top of that, Quick is on fire. I would not be at all surprised if the Kings won the cup. That's my new tip.

It's looking like a Phoenix/L.A match up after the Coyotes win today (1-0) against Nashville . Unless of course , we have a big come from behind series win (not sure we've had 1 yet during these playoffs?) .

Early game tomorrow between the Rangers/Capitals . The NY Rangers lead that series 2-1 . On at 2.30am Oz time but not on the box - grrrrr !

It's definitely looking that way.

Must-win game for the Capitals tomorrow since they're heading back to MSG for game 5. They don't want to be facing elimination that early on the road.

Phoenix get through after beating Nashville again to win 4-1 overall . Their match up with LA should be a beauty . I think the Coyotes get home ice advantage but LA won't care . They'll probably relish starting off away from home again .

Over in the East the Rangers hold a 3-2 advantage over Washington after their last gasp win today . The Devils lead the Flyers 3-1 but Philadelphia may not be done with yet . They play each other tomorrow at 9.30am Oz time . On Fox3 'live' for those with cable .

  • NON-MFC: Round 12

Round 12 kicks off with the Brisbane hosting Essendon at the Gabba as the Lions aim to solidify their top-two position against an injury-hit Bombers side seeking to maintain momentum after a win over Richmond. On Friday night it's a blockbuster at the G as the Magpies look to extend their top of the table winning streak while the Hawks strive to bounce back from a couple of recent defeats and stay in contention for the Top 4. On Saturday the Suns, buoyed by 3 wins on the trot, face the Dockers in a clash crucial for both teams' aspirations this season. The Suns want to solidify their Top 4 standing whilst the Dockers will be desperate to break into the 8.

  • PREVIEW: St. Kilda

The media has performed a complete reversal in its coverage of the Melbourne Football Club over the past month and a half. Having endured intense criticism from all quarters in the press, which continually identified new avenues for scrutiny of every aspect, both on and off the field, and prematurely speculated about the departures of coaches, players, officials, and various employees from a club that lost its first five matches and appeared out of finals contention, the narrative has suddenly shifted to one of unbridled optimism.  The Demons have won five of their last six matches, positioning themselves just one game (and a considerable amount of percentage) outside the top eight at the halfway mark of the season. They still trail the primary contenders and remain far from assured of a finals berth.

  • REPORT: Sydney

A few weeks ago, I visited a fellow Melbourne Football Club supporter in hospital, and our conversation inevitably shifted from his health diagnosis to the well-being of our football team. Like him, Melbourne had faced challenges in recent months, but an intervention - in his case, surgery, and in the team's case, a change in game style - had brought about much improvement.  The team's professionals had altered its game style from a pedestrian and slow-moving approach, which yielded an average of merely 60 points for five winless games, to a faster and more direct style. This shift led to three consecutive wins and a strong competitive effort in the fourth game, albeit with a tired finish against Hawthorn, a strong premiership contender.  As we discussed our team's recent health improvement, I shared my observations on the changes within the team, including the refreshed style, the introduction of new young talent, such as rising stars Caleb Windsor, Harvey Langford, and Xavier Lindsay, and the rebranding of Kozzy Pickett from a small forward to a midfield machine who can still get among the goals. I also highlighted the dominance of captain Max Gawn in the ruck and the resurgence in form in a big way of midfield superstars Christian Petracca and Clayton Oliver.

  • POSTGAME: Sydney

The Demons controlled the contest from the outset, though inaccurate kicking kept the Swans in the game until half time. But after the break, Melbourne put on the jets and blew Sydney away and the demolition job was complete.
