Colin Sylvia - commits to the Demons for 2 more years

Featured Replies

Here's a theory for you...

Col is due to stay up in Sydney this weekend. Maybe he, and a few other senior players, are up there meeting with the new coach, as currently, that person resides in Sydney...

Ah, all the Paul Roos fans will love that one!

Didn't Roos quit Syndey to come back to Melbourne? I honestly don't know the exact details.

I doubt it.

I wouldn't trust any of the players to keep their trap shut.

I would say "we are looking at getting a proven coach, Colin now sign this con...er, autograph...yes, that'll do."

Haha decent work there rpfc, nice.

If he weren't an AFL player I seriously wonder what Col would do with himself.

Can't forget the time he was asked if he knew who our PM was and he said John Howard... about 18 months after Rudd had been elected.

In all seriousness, maybe he (or someone else) has been told, and that is the cause for this betting plunge on Ross Lyon...

To my knowledge he runs the Swans youth academy, and wanted more spare time so he could travel with his wife to her native US more often.

He needs to be in the leadership group next year (ie, the team stuff needs to be imposed on him IMO, and I reckon he'd nail it).

If he does not get the team stuff on his own volition, he cant be a leader.

I am glad he has signed. I hope he is more consistent over the next 2 years than he has been.

At 25/26, there are no more excuses. He needs to deliver big time.

I am realy worried RR this is the third time in a row

Could not have said it better.

I'm glad he's signed - great news for the club.

Now can he finally have a proper pre-season and not park himself in the 'modified training program' group like last year.

Endurance is his biggest problem.

  • POSTGAME: Carlton

A near full strength Demons were outplayed all night against a Blues outfit that was under the pump and missing at least 9 or 10 of the best players. Time for some hard decisions to be made across the board.

  • PREVIEW: Carlton

Good evening, Demon fans and welcome back to the Demonland Podcast ... it’s time to discuss this week’s game against the Blues. Will the Demons celebrate Clayton Oliver’s 200th game with a victory? We have a number of callers waiting on line … Leopold Bloom: Carlton and Melbourne are both out of finals contention with six wins and eleven losses, and are undoubtedly the two most underwhelming and disappointing teams of 2025. Both had high expectations at the start of participating and advancing deep into the finals, but instead, they have consistently underperformed and disappointed themselves and their supporters throughout the year. However, I am inclined to give the Demons the benefit of the doubt, as they have made some progress in addressing their issues after a disastrous start. In contrast, the Blues are struggling across the board and do not appear to be making any notable improvements. They are regressing, and a significant loss is looming on Saturday night. Max Gawn in the ruck will be huge and the Demon midfield have a point to prove after lowering their colours in so many close calls.
