Newton is on the rookie list.

Newton is on the rookie list.

He can still play as a nominated rookie.

This should be apart of the 'Random Facts That Are Constantly Posted Thread' that should be a sticky...

He is our Nominated Rookie, IE eligible to play due to us only having one Veteran in Green not two

Ah that's right, interesting selection.

Sorry Newton being nominated didn't inspire me, pretty much why I'd forgotten about it.

Disagree- I would play Newton instead at this time. Petterd is not in scintilating form at this time.

You know I've been pushing for Newton. But he was unavailable.

Ricky was a tad unlucky to be dropped and probably needs some fitness. There's players not pulling their weight. So IMO, there should have been a spot for Petterd. He wasn't the best the week before,,, but he's form has been good.

He gives us mobility and some intensity up forward, something thats missing.

Has everybody watched the vfl highlights posted on melbournefc.com.au.

2 things I was pleased to see.

1. Lucas Cook (wearing number 61) looks really clever footballer, can't wait for him to bulk up: SEE in clip at 1.11, 1.32, 3.05, 3.24, 4.00, 6.05

2. Sam Blease (wearing number 47) showing some real zip, something that could really add another dimension to the team: SEE in clip at 1.05, 1.29, 2.34, 3.50

Lucas Cook especially looks like he always does something creative with the ball - all passages of play he either hit a target, set up a goal or kicked one himself.

Also noticeable that Spencer and Gawn seem to be progressing nicely.

Nice to see Matthew Bate look like he's dominating at VFL level also. I hope he can reinvent himself.

  • REPORT: Carlton

I am now certain that the decline in fortunes of the Melbourne Football Club from a premiership power with the potential for more success to come in the future, started when the team ran out for their Round 9 match up against Carlton last year. After knocking over the Cats in a fierce contest the week before, the Demons looked uninterested at the start of play and gave the Blues a six goal start. They recovered to almost snatch victory but lost narrowly with a score of 11.10.76 to 12.5.77. Yesterday, they revisited the scene and provided their fans with a similar display of ineptitude early in the proceedings. Their attitude at the start was poor, given that the game was so winnable. Unsurprisingly, the resulting score was almost identical to that of last year and for the fourth time in succession, the club has lost a game against Carlton despite having more scoring opportunities.

  • CASEY: Carlton

The Casey Demons smashed the Carlton Reserves off the park at Casey Fields on Sunday to retain a hold on an end of season wild card place. It was a comprehensive 108 point victory in which the home side was dominant and several of its players stood out but, in spite of the positivity of such a display, we need to place an asterisk over the outcome which saw a net 100 point advantage to the combined scores in the two contests between Demons and Blues over the weekend.

  • POSTGAME: Carlton

A near full strength Demons were outplayed all night against a Blues outfit that was under the pump and missing at least 9 or 10 of the best players. Time for some hard decisions to be made across the board.
