Sullivan was our centre that people talked about a fair bit especially on NFL Live, Webster was doing well in our secondary until injury put him out for the year. Barwon was decent as well. But yeah prob only know that being a Rams fan ?

Yeah totally. I wonder too how much the journeyman guys are told they've had a good year based moreso on team success. There's guys like Whitworth who change an entire offense... And then, say in Eagles, there's these corners that come in... very mediocre players who are talked about as the weakness in the team all year, and play really well... and then get lit up by Brady in the superbowl in embarrassing fashion. There's a reason they don't get press... They're not great. With Eagles fans, they love Mills, Robinson and others... but they're still a weakness.

Whoa @Gorgoroth As if Rams needed more help, they get Marcus Peters!

How good is it!

They were reporting yesterday we will Ftag Joyner, try and sign Watkins and that Trumain3 Johnson will leave which would be a massive loss.

johnson, Jenkins, McLeod and Gaines All left in last two years, that would have been the ultimate secondary.

Peters is costin $1.7 mil only, then I saw a tweet saying Trumaine Johnson said something about “loyalty”

Man, imagine Peters, Johnson, Joyner with Brockers, Ogletree, Quinn and of course, Mr Aaron Donald All on D...

Bring on the season!

This is great!

The #Chiefs traded CB Marcus Peters to the #Rams for a 2018 fourth round pick and a 2019 2nd round pick, sources say. The deal can’t be official until the league year begins.

Here's an interesting development (and about time too) ...

Committee says the Des Bryant '14 playoff play should be a catch in the future

Goodell has flagged for change and it looks like he will get his wish if they can find a way to re-word the ruling.  Anyway,  it can't be too hard to get it right.

I said at the time that the Bryant play should have been a touchdown same as the megatron catch in 2010 and also,  the Jesse James play for the Steelers just prior to this year's playoffs.

As you say, the key is in the wording.  To me one of the strange bits is the football move. But tbh gotta help secondaries out a bit, 95% of OPI is never called.

You're right Gorg but maybe they should allow some jostling/using your body anyway.  If they are not going to pay it then allow it (which is what they are effectively doing a lot of the time)

It's probably the one area of Footy/Aussie Rules where the ruling (when adjudicated properly) is spot on.  A player can use his body/jostle/out-muscle but hands in the back is disallowed.  We allow players to push-off when the ball is within 5 metres (again,  when adjudicated properly)

Looks like the Rams are trading Quinn to the dolphins... I’d rather not but the cap savings could mean we hold Watkins and one of Joyner or Johnson

The news is hotting up with regards to Nick Foles ... and it seems that Foles himself will be involved in the negotiations (that's according to coach Pederson)

Nick Foles trade rumors: Eagles get a 'respectable' offer, AFC team dangled second-rounder

Quote

The Eagles continue to be confident that Carson Wentz will be healthy enough after Dec. 13 knee surgery to play the Sept. 6 NFL opener, and have had at least one respectable (the word I hear to describe it) trade offer for Super Bowl MVP Nick Foles … The Eagles got first- and fourth-round picks for Sam Bradford 17 months ago and feel Foles is better, so it'll likely take at least that to pique their interest.

Yup. All our Foles back and forth looking like it might come true. TBH, I feel like they're high balling... and will end up trading pick 32 and Foles for something higher up... but only if it gets to that, since right now they need him.

Joyner got the franchise tag. Hope to re sign watkins as well but might not happen.

Wow. I'd take him.

They are saying 16mil+ a year.

Wouldnt be surprised to see him stay at the rams but if there is enough interest he will leave for the pay day.

I think he is a good fit for the Rams and Kupp will only get better and that means Watkins wont get all the double teaming but  money talks.

Would never take him.

Ogletree to the giants

Bennett from seattle to Philly

Pats cut Martellus Bennett

Rumours of sherman lleaving but he has said he knows nothing about this.

Interesting times.

Rams sign former Packer who sat out last season after concussions. Seems more as cover but he was a decent corner iirc.

@Macca thoughts?

Shields was decent but I suppose he was expendable in the end ...

Lombardi: Getting rid of players key to sustained success

Quote

Lombardi said there were three keys to staying on top and two of them were psychological. One was to guard against your players becoming complacent and developing inflated egos. The other was to prepare your team in advance for every defending champion’s inevitable burden: That each one of your opponents will be pointing to you as the biggest game on their schedule.

Lombardi’s third key touched on personnel. Here’s what he said.

“There is a tendency to stay with the players that won the championship – even if he isn’t as good as he was. And it’s the very human thing to do. However, there is no room for that type of emotion. Football is a hardheaded cold business. No matter what a player did last year, he must go if he can’t do it this year.”

lol Imagine that D now. QBs have to look up at 99... and on the few plays where they don't, he looks downfield at his receivers and there's Ramsey and Talib. Eesh. And their Defense isn't even the Rams strength.

  • AFLW REPORT: Richmond

A glorious sunny afternoon with a typically strong Casey Fields breeze favouring the city end greeted this round four clash of the undefeated Narrm against the winless Tigers. Pre-match, the teams entered the ground through the Deearmy’s inclusive banner—"Narrm Football Weaving Communities Together and then Warumungu/Yawuru woman and Fox Boundary Rider, Megan Waters, gave the official acknowledgement of country. Any concerns that Collingwood’s strategy of last week to discombobulate the Dees would be replicated by Ryan Ferguson and his Tigers evaporated in the second quarter when Richmond failed to use the wind advantage and Narrm scored three unanswered goals.

  • CASEY: Frankston

The late-season run of Casey wins was broken in their first semifinal against Frankston in a heartbreaking end at Kinetic Stadium on Saturday night that in many respects reflected their entire season. When they were bad, they committed all of the football transgressions, including poor disposal, indiscipline, an inability to exert pressure, and some terrible decision-making, as exemplified by the period in the game when they conceded nine unanswered goals from early in the second quarter until halfway through the third term. You rarely win when you do this.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Richmond

Round four kicks off early Saturday afternoon at Casey Fields, as the mighty Narrm host the winless Richmond Tigers in the second week of Indigenous Round celebrations. With ideal footy conditions forecast—20 degrees, overcast skies, and a gentle breeze — expect a fast-paced contest. Narrm enters with momentum and a dangerous forward line, while Richmond is still searching for its first win. With key injuries on both sides and pride on the line, this clash promises plenty.

  • AFLW REPORT: Collingwood

Expectations of a comfortable win for Narrm at Victoria Park quickly evaporated as the match turned into a tense nail-biter. After a confident start by the Demons, the Pies piled on pressure and forced red and blue supporters to hold their collective breath until after the final siren. In a frenetic, physical contest, it was Captain Kate’s clutch last quarter goal and a missed shot from Collingwood’s Grace Campbell after the siren which sealed a thrilling 4-point win. Finally, Narrm supporters could breathe easy.

  • CASEY: Williamstown

The Casey Demons issued a strong statement to the remaining teams in the VFL race with a thumping 76-point victory in their Elimination Final against Williamstown. This was the sixth consecutive win for the Demons, who stormed into the finals from a long way back with scalps including two of the teams still in flag contention. Senior Coach Taylor Whitford would have been delighted with the manner in which his team opened its finals campaign with high impact after securing the lead early in the game when Jai Culley delivered a precise pass to a lead from Noah Yze, who scored his first of seven straight goals for the day. Yze kicked his second on the quarter time siren, by which time the Demons were already in control. The youngster repeated the dose in the second term as the Seagulls were reduced to mere

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Collingwood

Narrm time isn’t a standard concept—it’s the time within the traditional lands of Narrm, the Woiwurrung name for Melbourne. Indigenous Round runs for rounds 3 and 4 and is a powerful platform to recognise the contributions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in sport, community, and Australian culture. This week, suburban footy returns to the infamous Victoria Park as the mighty Narrm take on the Collingwood Magpies at 1:05pm Narrm time, Sunday 31 August. Come along if you can.
