how does cameron bruce's goal not get nominated

I thought for sure Bruce's goal would have been nominated for goal of the week. Rhys shaw and Matthew stokes got nominated and someone else. I know it wasn't as flashy as Shaws goal from the boundary but Bruce ran hard for his goal and set it up beautifully. It wasn't bad for a 30 year old.

I concur.

However, it was more a fantastic team goal and would be nominated as "Play of the Year" if there was such a thing.

It would be runner up to Matthew Bate's goal against Richmond in round 4 when Petterd knocked it back from the boundary line for him.

I thought they canceled the remaining rounds after the Franklin goal(s). Every commentator in the country creamed over his goal. Bit like Nik Nat having his name engraved on the Rising Star trophy before the season actually started!

Are you saying Buddy won't get Goal of the Year? Because Nic Nat isn't getting the Rising Star

Nah Eth, he will most likely get the GOTY (and at this stage deserves it). But sometimes the "experts" forget that one better could be just around the corner but they are too blind to see sometimes.

For the first 8 rounds no-one was going to beat Nic Nat, look what happened!

On a night of counting, Melbourne captain Max Gawn made sure that his contribution counted. He was at his best and superb in the the ruck from the very start of the election night game against the West Coast Eagles at Optus Stadium, but after watching his dominance of the first quarter and a half of the clash evaporate into nothing as the Eagles booted four goals in the last ten minutes of the opening half, he turned the game on its head, with a ruckman’s masterclass in the second half.  No superlatives would be sufficient to describe the enormity of the skipper’s performance starting with his 47 hit outs, a career-high 35 possessions (22 of them contested), nine clearances, 12 score involvements and, after messing up an attempt or two, finally capping off one of the greatest rucking performances of all time, with a goal of own in the final quarter not long after he delivered a right angled pass into the arms of Daniel Turner who also goaled from a pocket (will we ever know if the pass is what was intended). That was enough to overturn a 12 point deficit after the Eagles scored the first goal of the second half into a 29 point lead at the last break and a winning final quarter (at last) for the Demons who decided not to rest their champion ruckman at the end this time around.
