Debate, is that what the problem is. Not having a go at you or anyone HT. Thats what I find annoying, the adversarial nature, of these 'debates', as distinct to a simple discussion on ideas.

Maybe I'm not as competative as some.

Debate or more so in-depth analysis and it's discussion is more likely what I meant. Fwiw, I don't think debate is necessarily a problem. If anything it can stimulate the latter (in-depth analysis/discussion) which is healthy for threads / forum.

For example, having just read some of the discussion on you guessed it the Watts thread relating to "star" discussion. There is a difference of opinion and it involves debate with analysis on past players to help determine the status.

Whilst it can be seen as competitive on occassions, that's part of what makes forums interesting in my opinion. I don't see that as annoying, I enjoy reading it, occassionally you'll learn something. It's when personal jibes or attacks of a silly nature occur that are occassionally annoying.

Could it really? In what capacity?

Think we have a CEO that fully understands the power of the internet & social media.

Sadly the same cannot be said for many around here.

Yep. It's good to read the good not too long winded posts. Your not bad reading HT, for mine.

Everyone has an opinion, some are sensible, but all are real opinions. Thats why we deserve better moderators,,, Jack,,,WJ,,, we deserve better. Maybe he, Jack could talk to his mates from the ground.

I may not post on here that much.. but i get bored quiet often and the first thing i do is jump on D'Land wich would mean im on here up to 10 times a day maybe, quiet worrying.

Hard to quantify. Some days there are a lot of threads worth perusing while other days are full of same old same old. I guess it depends if anything new is happening or somebody has started an interesting thread.

The one thing that does frustrate me is the up and down moods of the site. If we play a good game then everyone is a star in the making, the coach is a genius and we have a flag just waiting for us. If we play a bad one then half the team should be traded, Bailey should be sacked and a flag is only a wet dream. It would be nicer if some people could see that we are somewhere in between (maybe on the plus side of the ledger) and we are going to have some hard days before the good ones come more regularly.

But having said that footy is a passionate game and we wouldn't be here if we weren't emotional about the great MFC.

That's the main point for me Rojik.....I'd put my hand straight up and say I didn't handle Sunday too well at all, thankfully didn't trot out a head hunt for Bailey but didn't miss too many :)

For the most part I would imagine we all realise where we are but who can honestly say they have not been blinded by a great win or bad loss at least once along the journey?

And it is all a journey...for all of us. Hopefully one that ends shortly with a nice shiny cup before we set off on another one!

Haha interesting...

Mostly since I had a conversation about Twitter with Cameron Schwab and with Mark Jamar about 3 months before CS and Jones started up their accounts.

Not saying it was my idea, but I was pushing for it because I wanted our club to be ahead of the curve in terms of social media and most people didn't yet understand it's capabilities.

I also brought up Gilbert Arenas' blog and how a more carefully managed version could help young people to feel a greater connection the club and players.

From what i understand Russell Howcroft would be a driving force behind much of this.

He is a smart man that I respect very much.

I have been reading for about 2 years... find myself fully entrenched more so in the off season largely due too the draft! I had been reading everypost everyday for a while there but i find it gets a bit repetative so just flick through 5 min here and there. But i admid i get alot if not all my MFC mail here and keep my fellow MFC mates and Family up to date.

I have posted recently that i feel this forum does bring me closer too the club especially with some of the information that is posted, so cant be a bad thing hey!

Exactly we he said.

Good on you

Less lately. Like many I find myself bored stiff with the hysteria when we're struggling. It's frustrating at times but overall I'm enjoying the rollercoaster ride we're on, but I don't feel the general vibe of Demonland (or Demonology) is in line with that.

The good quality analysis is, by and large, missing at the moment.

There are a lot of new posters/demonlanders, mainly very young. I think they're boring some of the old smoker's stand guys, and even the young smoker's stand guys, most of whom would rather all Melbourne supporters fit within that MCC facility, certainly not the outer, not to mention the old guys whom are 'in', perceptibly inside the MFC, and then those who are deluded and think they are.

I don't come along to Demonland much these days, but I'm just an ordinary country supporter. I'm not even hysterical about win/loss happenings.

I do the games and enjoy being a Melbourne supporter, but the 'inside' experts here are too much for me, and the newbies? Well, bless them.

Are you suggesting we are a "still" a divided football club & communities like this highlight our divisions?

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Essendon

It’s Pink Lady night at Princes Park — a vibey Friday evening setting for a high-stakes clash between second-placed Melbourne and eleventh-placed Essendon. The wind-sheltered IKON Park, a favourite ground of the Demon players, promises flair, fire and a touch of pink. Melbourne has never lost a home-and-away game here, though the ghosts of two straight-sets finals exits in 2023 still linger.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: # 1 Steven May

The premiership defender has shown signs of wear and tear due to age, and his 2025 season was inconsistent, ending poorly with a suspension and a noticeable decline in performance. The Demons are eager to integrate younger players onto their list and have indicated that they may not be able to guarantee him senior games next season, in what would be the final year of his contract.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: # 2 Jacob van Rooyen

The young key tall failed to make progress during the season, with a decline in his goal kicking output. His secondary role as a backup ruckman, which may have hindered his ability to further develop his game, and he was also impacted by the team's poor forward connection. It will be interesting to observe his performance under a new coaching regime.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: #3 Christian Salem

Salem proved to be a valuable contributor as a reliable and solid one-on-one medium-sized defender in what was undoubtedly his most impressive season since the premiership year. He remains a highly capable rebounding option for the Demons as he approaches his 200th game at the club.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: #4 Judd McVee

Following an injury-interrupted start to the season, McVee struggled to maintain the standard he established in 2025 as he pursued an expanded role within the team structure. He remained a firm fan favourite and the club had hoped to negotiate a new contract with the former rookie selection from Western Australia, whose partner, Lily Johnson, plays for Melbourne's AFLW side. Those hopes were dashed when he expressed his desire to return to his home state and play for Fremantle. Like all players who have worn the red and blue and are leaving this year, we wish him well in the future.
