If our club is worth anything it'll ask what that was about.

I'm tired of the umps siding with the team who's favourite to win

Jeff Geishen, time to go

haha i agree to an extent. Some decisions tonight were.... well... i dont want to say wrong, because i usually give the umpires a go... but tonight they f*@#ed up. So many incorrect decisions, for both teams. But the impact that they had on us was ridiculous. They denied us 2 goals from the ball being "touched". That deliberate from Frawley was joke. That holding the ball against us by Aker??? seriously that was holding the ball.

Maybe at the essendon game this week the umpires should wear a black shirt with a red stripe just to be subtle.

I am FUROUS TONIGHT

Couldn't put it better myself. Our only Friday night for the season is turned into a debacle by the hardheaded blindness of the AFL and the ineptitude of the officials. Someone should be made to pay, and for mine Demetriou is a nice sounding name to head the list.

Is burning at the stake still against the law?

... Someone should be made to pay.

Someone did, it was the MFC. 4 point out the window, and handed to the doggies.

*8 points

You can excuse the umpires for the holding the ball stuff. You have to consider the conditons and with the slippery surface comes fumbles, and slips. Inexcusable were the "touched" points and 2 out of bounds calls that were clearly throw ins.

  • REPORT: Western Bulldogs

The next coach of the Melbourne Football Club faces the challenge of teaching his players how to win games against all comers. At times during this tumultuous season, that task has seemed daunting, made more so in light of the surprise news last week of the sacking of premiership coach Simon Goodwin. However, there were also some positive signs from yesterday’s match against the Western Bulldogs that the challenge may not be as difficult as one might think. The two sides presented a genuine football spectacle, featuring pulsating competitive play with eight lead changes throughout the afternoon, in a display befitting a finals match. The result could have gone either way and in the end, it came down to which team could produce the most desperate of acts to provide a winning result. It was the Bulldogs who had their season on the line that won out by a six point margin that fitted the game and the effort of both sides.

  • CASEY: Brisbane

The rain had been falling heavily in south east Queensland when the match began at Springfield, west of Brisbane. The teams exchanged early goals and then the Casey Demons proceeded like a house on fire in the penultimate game of the VFL season against a strong opponent in the Brisbane Lions. Sparked by strong play around the ground by seasoned players in Charlie Spargo and Jack Billings, a strong effort from Bailey Laurie and promising work from youngsters in Kynan Brown and  Koltyn Tholstrup, the Demons with multiple goal kickers firing, raced to a 27 point lead late in the opening stanza. A highlight was a wonderful goal from Laurie who brilliantly sidestepped two opponents and kicked beautifully from 45 metres out.
