The last two sentences sum it up:

"We're playing an exceptional football club and we need to make some inroads on Saturday night.

"If we don't, then what we've done the last two weeks will disappear pretty quick."

This article covers the game in a fundamental sort of way. Apart from Brown, who can be a machine, the others names mentioned should not have Demons shaking in their boots. Most of them jump out of their skins when the Brisbane crowd is behind them and they get on a roll. Winning in the mid field is the part of our performance that has improved most of all and this is where can win the game.

Has anyone ever noticed that nearly every article about Melbourne in the HUN on the webiste has that picture of Bailey?

It's arguably the best picture available on the first page there.

Which is why I said in my "I love the optimism, but..." thread that this is our most important game since 2006. We're playing a top 4 side, that's flying, on the big stage, and we're in a chance for victory. We haven't been in that position for a while.

I don't want to rain on the parade but I don't think we have a hope in hell of winning this game. And I'm not an unreconstructed pessimist. I tipped the Adelaide win. But you have to remember, when we pushed Collingwood they expected to be playing a red and blue version of Richmond. Brisbane know that's not the case, have a point to prove playing at the `G' and absolutely smacked the Bulldogs last week. I just hope we see some good competitive footy from our guys and there's no blow-out. My sense is that that was what Bailey was getting at. I'd love to be proven wrong but I very much doubt it.

  • DRAFT: The Next Generation

It was not long after the announcement that Melbourne's former number 1 draft pick Tom Scully was departing the club following 31 games and two relatively unremarkable seasons to join expansion team, the Greater Western Giants, on a six-year contract worth about $6 million, that a parody song based on Adele's hit "Someone Like You" surfaced on social media. The artist expressed lament over Scully's departure in song, culminating in the promise, "Never mind, we'll find someone like you," although I suspect that the undertone of bitterness in this version exceeded that of the original.

  • AFLW REPORT: Brisbane

A steamy Springfield evening set the stage for a blockbuster top-four clash between two AFLW heavyweights. Brisbane, the bookies’ favourites, hosted Melbourne at a heaving Brighton Homes Arena, with 5,022 fans packing in—the biggest crowd for a Melbourne game this season. It was the 11th meeting between these fierce rivals, with the Dees holding a narrow 6–4 edge. But while the Lions brought the chaos and roared loudest, the Demons aren’t done yet.
