Bailey or Lyon

Featured Replies

Bad Call!!! Horrendous Call!!! while our performance was

at best poor. It's hardly time to start beating the jungle drums calling

for a coaches head on the basis of one game. This is the most apathetic form of support. Calling for

Bailey to be sacked lacks courage lacks insight and common sense. In fact it's Richmond like.

If I was CEO I'd sign Dean to 2 more years and it's not blind faith it's the most pragmatic option

2 years to clear out the list 2 years to develop the recruits. The jungle drums started to beat loudly for Clarkson

2006/2007 and look what he did.

Please Garry Lyon if he had the cojones he'd of put his hand up long ago your talking about a media performer

with no recent senior coach experience. Scott West is more qualified than Garry Lyon.

This thread is nominated for the most ridiculous, over reactionary and ignorant of the year.

How did Garry Lyon get Bought up any way?? The idea of him coaching is just Ludicrous.

Bailey is fine, i just don't think some of our older players give 110% that's it.

It is up to DB to get that 110%

When that happens the young kids will Follow.

Was just getting off them.......lol....... until I have read most of the posts on this subject, don't know if I need them or some of our supporters??

I think we all need a few "Mother's little Helper's" today, don't feel ashamed!!

This is another misnomer that I feel many Melbourne fans miss.

We only have 5 players on our list with 100 games experience. Only four of the 26 that played yesterday have played 100 games. It is very tough on the youngsters when they have to go out there without the support of bigger, more experienced players and bodies to help get them through.

Green, Bruce, Mcdonald, Davey and Miller always put in "110%" - but only four of them played on the weekend, of those one was injured (Davey), one clearly not the player he once was (Mcdonald), one is not the type of player you need to lead a group of youngsters on field (Miller) and the other could not ever be accused of not putting in 100%.

This is highlighted even further when you consider that a boy who turned 22 only a month ago (Nathan Jones) has played the tenth most amount of games of anyone on our list!

14 players that played had only played 249 games between them - 18 each.

The other 12 have played 1096 between them - 91

Yes i don't disagree with your point, but i still say some of our senior players (70+ Games) do not get 110 % out of themselves consistently.

John Northey got 110 % out of his teams quite often and almost got a flag.

ND got it in short Bursts, but not enough. Maybe the new Training Faciilties will help to get top Performance.

It is Bailey's biggest challenge & i am sure he knows it. Smart Bloke is Dean, But i bet he was filthy last night.

Either way you look at it whether this is a sack the coach thread or just plain and simple have a whinge thread. It doesn't change the fact that the team showed little commitment last night. You have got to ask the question whether the players are switched on enough at times and whether they are willing to put their bodies on the line and show pride in the jumper. The coaching staff are responsible for motivating the players. How bout they get the playing group to start playing with a bit of mongrel. Play like demons as Checker Hughes once famously said.

The game is played in the mind a lot of the time, I would like to see a change in mental approach to games. It's not good enough to keep saying we are just developing players and we need time. It's creating a get out and a cheap excuse for the players. The club needs to get harder or we will still be talking about winning our first flag since 1964 in another 5 years. The games we won last year against Freo and West Coast are a perfect example of what this playing group is capable of. They should be aiming at that level of commitment each performance and privately the playing group should have expectations placed on them from the coaching staff to aim for in terms of ladder position this year. Even if yesterday was only NAB cup it felt like just the same type of performance as the first three rounds of 2008.

Absolutely spot on but Bailey and brains trust need to work with the list to getting them plkaying with the confidence they had last year to run and back themselves. There was little of that happening yesterday.

Another case of missing the point WYL.

On one hand you dont disagree with 45's point and on other hand you completely miss it.

Couldn't agree more....Play like Demons not Fuschia's If Tom Scully Jack Trengove & all our other kids are to stick around for 10 years then they must be inspired by the deeds of the jumper.

Cale Morton had a crack, but after 40 odd games so he should.
