"just possible effect that recycleds might have pushing some picks further up."

Hey, Beelzebub, don't you mean "down" ? i.e. the young players might be selectable with lower picks? I think that's what you mean. And I think that's right. This suits us...we don't want old players, but sides in the premiership window do.

It might just help us to get another "steal"...like the way we picked up Jack G at 15.

down up..this way that way.... taken with a later pick... further up the queue etc.

yes my thinking is that some recycleds will come into play sometime into the second round and this will delay the taking of some kids. Some might just apear when we didnt think they still be around ( at 34 and 50 )

I am pro Dylan Grimes. While some may say he got attention due to his brother I would say his performances spoke for themselves (not that i saw any in whole, but checked the bests and Future Stars). Another argument against him is that there exists too many of his type on the list, though I dont see anything wrong with competition.

Tall (190cm+) Backmen:

-Warnock

-Rivers

-Frawley

-Martin

-Garland

-McNamara

Though potentially these players can be more versatile, depth will be good as the general consensus is that KP players take longer to develop. I still have nightmares about losing everyone at the end of 2003, Ellis(knee), Nicholson(knee) ect ect..

Tall (190cm+) Backmen:

Warnock - 25yr 8mth - 4 Mar 1984. - In 3 years we will be close to needing more tall defenders to place in the side.

Rivers - 25yr - 18 Oct 1984

Martin - 22yr 11mth 17 Nov 1986 will play more a utility role.

Frawley - 21yr 1mth - 20 Sep 1988

Key defender in the making, Q? mark re kicking effectiveness.

Garland - 21yr 6mth 24 Apr 1988 injured ????????

McNamara - 19yr 6mth 29 Apr 1990 ?????????????

  • REPORT: Carlton

I am now certain that the decline in fortunes of the Melbourne Football Club from a premiership power with the potential for more success to come in the future, started when the team ran out for their Round 9 match up against Carlton last year. After knocking over the Cats in a fierce contest the week before, the Demons looked uninterested at the start of play and gave the Blues a six goal start. They recovered to almost snatch victory but lost narrowly with a score of 11.10.76 to 12.5.77. Yesterday, they revisited the scene and provided their fans with a similar display of ineptitude early in the proceedings. Their attitude at the start was poor, given that the game was so winnable. Unsurprisingly, the resulting score was almost identical to that of last year and for the fourth time in succession, the club has lost a game against Carlton despite having more scoring opportunities.

  • CASEY: Carlton

The Casey Demons smashed the Carlton Reserves off the park at Casey Fields on Sunday to retain a hold on an end of season wild card place. It was a comprehensive 108 point victory in which the home side was dominant and several of its players stood out but, in spite of the positivity of such a display, we need to place an asterisk over the outcome which saw a net 100 point advantage to the combined scores in the two contests between Demons and Blues over the weekend.

  • POSTGAME: Carlton

A near full strength Demons were outplayed all night against a Blues outfit that was under the pump and missing at least 9 or 10 of the best players. Time for some hard decisions to be made across the board.
