Will kick 3 goals in the first quarter and then for the rest of the game play a bit up the ground.

i don't think i've been as excited for a game since the 2000 GF!

It's a bit like that isn't it. I'm not too far behind you, Doggo. Monday can't come quick enough!

I'd be happy if he got between 10 and 15 touches. Any more and we're probably expecting too much of him.

Totally agree 'AdamFarr', We must not have high expectations in this, his first game of AFL. 10 would be fine with one of them producing a classy goal or goal assist.

Let's look at the debuts of all no. 1's since 2000:

2000 Nick Riewoldt - rnd 15 3 disposals no goals

2001 Luke Hodge - rnd 5 13 disposals no goals

2002 Brendan Goddard rnd 4 11 disposals 1 goal

2003 Adam Cooney rnd 1 8 disposals 1 goal

2004 Brett Deledio rnd 1 9 disposals no goals

2005 Marc Murphy rnd 1 17 disposals 1 goal

2006 Bryce Gibbs rnd 1 11 disposals 1 goal

2007 Matthew Kreuzer rnd 3 16 disposals 2 goals

I'll throw in Justin Koschitzki (pick 2) rnd 3 5 disposals no goals

It's been a pretty modest output from most recent no. 1's, so we should keep our expectations in perspective.

Just for interest I've added a few first round Dees debut games:

Colin Sylvia rnd 5 1 disposal no goals

Matthew Bate 11 disposals 1 goal (debuted 18 months after being drafted)

Nathan Jones rnd 17 17 disposals no goals

James Frawley rnd 9 7 disposals no goals

Cale Morton rnd 1 13 disposals no goals

Jack Grimes rnd 22 8 disposals no goals

Addam Maric (not first round draft pick) rnd 17 9 disposals no goals

I'll be very happy if Jackie boy has 10+ disposals and kicks 1 goal. But in reality whatever he does won't faze me.

Prediction: Jack Watts rnd 11 15 disposals 3 goals

Game time? 74%

Kicks? 10

Handballs? 4

Goals? 3

Points? 1

Efficiency? 79%

Where will he play? Close to goal or up half forward? Bit of both :)

Goal with his first kick? Yes!! :D

  • POSTGAME: Carlton

A near full strength Demons were outplayed all night against a Blues outfit that was under the pump and missing at least 9 or 10 of the best players. Time for some hard decisions to be made across the board.

It's Game Day and Clarry's 200th game and for anyone who hates Carlton as much as I do this is our Grand Final. Go Dees.

  • PREVIEW: Carlton

Good evening, Demon fans and welcome back to the Demonland Podcast ... it’s time to discuss this week’s game against the Blues. Will the Demons celebrate Clayton Oliver’s 200th game with a victory? We have a number of callers waiting on line … Leopold Bloom: Carlton and Melbourne are both out of finals contention with six wins and eleven losses, and are undoubtedly the two most underwhelming and disappointing teams of 2025. Both had high expectations at the start of participating and advancing deep into the finals, but instead, they have consistently underperformed and disappointed themselves and their supporters throughout the year. However, I am inclined to give the Demons the benefit of the doubt, as they have made some progress in addressing their issues after a disastrous start. In contrast, the Blues are struggling across the board and do not appear to be making any notable improvements. They are regressing, and a significant loss is looming on Saturday night. Max Gawn in the ruck will be huge and the Demon midfield have a point to prove after lowering their colours in so many close calls.
