Stadium Deals

I dont know If anyone else heard on SEN today the representative from the state government but apparently the AFL and the MCC are not to far off an agreement. Given the AFL knocked back the MCC last offer which would have netted us close to an extra million a year Im hoping we get a decent deal out of this. Also It was said the state government was acting as a peace maker with the AFL and MCC but has nothing to do with Etihad. I guess we could see ourselves with a decent deal before to long but the poor old roos and dogs will have to wait.

Yes I heard that interview. Although he did say they're getting closer to a deal with the AFL/MCC negotiations........that could mean 1-2 months time??

I'd rather 1-2 months than a court case with Etihad that could drag on for a lot longer. At least Its a positive that things are coming along.

I would expect nothing but a great deal, including Food & Drink percentages from all bars etc. This is our Home we helped Construct.

Whatever the deal is we must live with it, so to grow it's got to be first class.

If it's not i shall be contacting the MCC in person. I want my money well spent.

A better stadium deal would net an extra $1m p.a.

A better draw, with Saturday afternoon games and Friday night games would net at least an extra $1m p.a. because bigger crowds. We will start getting a better draw when we become a great onfield team...

As a result, in 3-4 years time when we are back up the ladder i see no reason why we can't be financially stable, making profits each year, with no assistance from the afl.

Geelong make 600 G's with a crowd of 23,000 each game so i would expect a lot more than 1 mill a year from the MCG deal that has such a huge seating capacity.

  • POSTGAME: Carlton

A near full strength Demons were outplayed all night against a Blues outfit that was under the pump and missing at least 9 or 10 of the best players. Time for some hard decisions to be made across the board.

  • PREVIEW: Carlton

Good evening, Demon fans and welcome back to the Demonland Podcast ... it’s time to discuss this week’s game against the Blues. Will the Demons celebrate Clayton Oliver’s 200th game with a victory? We have a number of callers waiting on line … Leopold Bloom: Carlton and Melbourne are both out of finals contention with six wins and eleven losses, and are undoubtedly the two most underwhelming and disappointing teams of 2025. Both had high expectations at the start of participating and advancing deep into the finals, but instead, they have consistently underperformed and disappointed themselves and their supporters throughout the year. However, I am inclined to give the Demons the benefit of the doubt, as they have made some progress in addressing their issues after a disastrous start. In contrast, the Blues are struggling across the board and do not appear to be making any notable improvements. They are regressing, and a significant loss is looming on Saturday night. Max Gawn in the ruck will be huge and the Demon midfield have a point to prove after lowering their colours in so many close calls.
