The forward set up

A lot of people are always on about our less than skilful forward line..........

.what I think DB is doing is testing a bullying forward line that will not necessarily kick a lot of goals but will physically tire the defence..

If all of them can mark and goal at least once then...

when Watts comes in or even Newton in the next couple of weeks can play off this.......

Bate, Pettterd ,Miller and Dunn gave the Tiges defence a battering.....

Bate's stats weren't flash but he had the physical presence...........we even had the joy of Meesen throwing his big frame on the goalline and creating a goal and Jetta's came from big bodies bashing in and getting the ball to ground....

I think DB is experimenting, until he gets the right mix, we still have Robbo to come back, he would love climbing all over tired bodes at the end of the quarter...

Miller's been good this year, but he needs to get his confidence back in his goal-kicking and give us 50 goals this season. Hopefully Bate can kick 35 for the year too.

I think you might be onto something and it isn't really a bad option considering our lack of targets up there...

Our midfield gave them (a hapless, pathetic team) a battering moreso than our forwards

This is my whole point...I think he is following the Geelong model, big bodies with a sprinkling of real skill and talent to take advantage of the physical superiority.........I would start to favourably compare our backline as where Geelong's was at the same level of development if not slightly better.............we are going to have a mix experience and athleticism,

in the midfield there will be the big bodies to do the clearing and the skill to get it forward will come

then you will have the big bodies and the couple of good marking forwards and a couple of crumbers coming off the bench

I agree midfield made us look the goods

  • PREVIEW: Brisbane

They really had me fooled when I picked them with great confidence to beat the Bombers at Gather Round last week. I should have recognised that nothing is more quintessentially Melbourne than defeating the undefeated early premiership favourite one week and losing to a winless cellar dweller on its way to establishing a record losing streak the next.
