Not Sam's day but she will be back . Stosur is getting into contention more and more these days . A semi final in a Grand Slam tournament is quite an achievement . Her last 4 years have been excellent and let's hope Sam has a few more good years left .

We get a terrific match-up for the Mens Final . Djokovic/Nadal - should be a beauty and maybe a long night - thank goodness the Queen decided to have another birthday !

As for tonights final - Maria Sharapova vs Sara Errani of Italy from 11pm tonight . Ch9 are only covering the highlights at 2.24am ! It's on Foxtel for those who have it . Same goes for the Mens Final - 1.20am Monday morning for the highlights only - live on Foxtel from 11pm .

Rafa picked up the 1st set 6 - 4 and leads 2 - 1 with a break in the 2nd set . Early doors but Nadal looks so at home on this surface .

Novak can't be counted out but he won't want to fall 2 sets down .

2nd set to Nadal . Rafa now leads 6 - 4 , 6 - 3 . Serving 1st in the 3rd set .

Edit - Novak takes the 3rd set 6 - 2 .

We could be here quite some time ! Djokovic has lifted .

Constant drizzle caused the match to be postponed until today .

Match resumes at 9pm tonight (EST) with Rafa leading Novak 6-4 , 6-3 , 2-6 , 1-2 . Should be a fascinating finish .

In the last set and a bit last night , Djokovic was over-powering Nadal . Rafa seemed non-plussed .

Edit :- The match swung towards Nadal in the 4th set and Rafa wins in 4 . Topsy/turvy encounter . Thats 7 French titles now for Nadal . Fair effort !

How was Nalbandian's tantrum effort ? What a goose. Caused a leg injury to a linesman.

Yep , a definite brain fade .

Wimbledon starts tomorrow night . Only 2 weeks between Grand Slams this year . Though I reckon Djokovic should win , I'm hoping for a Nadal/Federer final (Roger and Novak are in the same half of the draw) . Andy Murray will probably make the semi's . Tomas Berdych may surprise again and the American , John Isner can be dangerous on grass .

In the ladies , Sam Stosur will hopefully keep up her good form . Wouldn't it be great to have another Aussie winner ? Otherwise , the ladies winner will probably come from Maria Sharapovo , Venus , Serena , Victoria Azarenka or last years winner Petra Kvitova .

Through to the 2nd round I heard early this morning. C'mon Sammy.

Both out in the 1st round - I can sure pick 'em

Yep , Sam won well . Bernard Tomic and Lleyton Hewitt both play tonight . Big ask for Lleyton against Tsonga and don't know much about Tomic's opponent , David Goffin of Belgium .

Sammy Stosur is Australia's Luke Skywalker.

Our only hope.

Rafa out ! Well that's a shock , loses to World no.100 Lukas Rosol of the Czech Republic . Opens the door for Andy Murray now , who defeated Ivo Karlovic in 4 sets to advance to the 3rd round .

Federer through after being 2 sets down . However , Roger won the 5th set comfortably 6-1 against a cramping opponent (Julien Benneteau)

The Mens competition gets more interesting from here on in , with tonights match-ups including Ferrer (7) vs Roddick (30) , Baghdatis vs Murray (4) and Nishikori (19) vs Del Potro (9)

Probably the best Ladies match-up tonight is Serena Williams (6) vs Jie Zheng (25) . This game is 1st up on Centre court .

Mens Quarter finals on tonight and you'd expect Federer (3) to defeat Youzhny (26) , Djokovic (1) to beat Mayer (31) and Tsonga (5) to take care of Kohlschreiber (27) .

The interesting match-up is David Ferrer (7) against Andy Murray (4) . This game is 2nd up on Centre court after the Federer/Youzhny match . The winner of the Ferrer/Murray match will most likely play Tsonga in the Semi-finals . Roger and Novak are in the same half of the draw so are most likely to meet in the other semi-final .

Roger , Novak , Andy and Jo-Wilfried all through to the Semi-Finals (to be played Friday)

Tonight's Ladies Semi-Finals are Angelique Kerber (8) vs Agnieszka Radwanska (3) followed by Serena Williams (6) vs Victoria Azarenka (2) . 1st match on centre court starts at 10pm .

Between the Tennis and the Tour my sleeping patterns have been thrown into total disarray !

This Federer / Djokovic match is a beauty . Hope we go to 5 !

This Federer / Djokovic match is a beauty . Hope we go to 5 !

Federer wins in 4 after putting on a Master class in the last 2 sets . Roger completely over-powered Novak . No easy task .

Wow ! Just Wow !

wow federer that was simply unbelievable. what a match, really enjoyed this wimbledon

Well done to Serena , Agnieszka was brave and won the 2nd set and hopefully she'll be back to fight another day .

That's 5 Wimbledon singles titles each to the Williams Sisters . A mighty effort .

One set all . We could be in for a long night !

Federer makes it seven Wimbledon titles.

Mighty effort; class player.

The Queen looks into ways to deport Federer from the UK after defeating Murray.

Ha ha ! Roger just far too good . He's just an absolute class act . Long may his career continue .

Be interesting to see where Andy's career goes to now . He needs a slam and I hope he breaks through sometime soon .

I like the idea of a 'Big 4' .

It's a funny thing when the media talk of the "Big 4" given that Fed has 17 now, Rafa 11, Djoker 5 and Murray......

He is still a class above the rest of the field but if he doesn't get one soon then he may well become that dreaded "best never".

Unfortunately for Andy cold hard reality is that he has landed in one of the most amazing eras of men's tennis and while Federer and Nadal have been going hammer and tong for years now, we

were all waiting to see who was going to step up to their amazing level and enter the battles, Djokovic has done that (his 2011 was astonishing) leaving Murray behind in a kind of limbo.

I would have loved to see him win this Wimbledon and the 11th game of the second set is where it all started to go wrong for him.

Congrats to Fed though, on that green stage he really is the king.

  • REPORT: Richmond

The fans who turned up to the MCG for Melbourne’s Anzac Day Eve clash against Richmond would have been disappointed if they turned up to see a great spectacle. As much as this was a night for the 71,635 in attendance to commemorate heroes of the nation’s past wars, it was also a time for the Melbourne Football Club to consolidate upon its first win after a horrific start to the 2025 season. On this basis, despite the fact that it was an uninspiring and dour struggle for most of its 100 minutes, the night will be one for the fans to remember. They certainly got value out of the pre match activity honouring those who fought for their country. The MCG and the lights of the city as backdrop was made for nights such as these and, in my view, we received a more inspirational ceremony of Anzac culture than others both here and elsewhere around the country.

  • CASEY: Richmond

The match up of teams competing in our great Aussie game at its second highest level is a rarity for a work day Thursday morning but the blustery conditions that met the players at a windswept Casey Fields was something far more commonplace. They turned the opening stanza between the Casey Demons and a somewhat depleted Richmond VFL into a mess of fumbling unforced errors, spilt marks and wasted opportunities for both sides but they did set up a significant win for the home team which is exactly what transpired on this Anzac Day round opener. Casey opened up strong against the breeze with the first goal to Aidan Johnson, the Tigers quickly responded and the game degenerated into a defensive slog and the teams were level when the first siren sounded.

  • POSTGAME: Richmond

After five consecutive defeats, the Demons have now notched up back-to-back victories, comfortably accounting for the Tigers in the traditional ANZAC Eve clash. They surged to a commanding 44-point lead early in the final quarter before easing off the pedal, resting skipper Max Gawn and conceding the last four goals of the game to close out a solid 20-point win.
