Pre-Season Draft

Harding? McDonald? I'd think about both of them. But maybe not Harding at pick 1.

McDonald's ours for the taking if he goes straight to PSD...

After reading this surely he would be the one we take if we cant get Ball

this bloke can play and gets alot of the footy... alot more than i thought!!!

i quite like him...

in addition, realistically thinking is we will take 2 mids with our frst two picks and most probably 2 tall forwards with our next two.... i think 10-20 will be when all the key forwards are taken....

so if we were to get this bloke to add to our defensive stocks i would be wrapped.... it would certainly spell the end to people like Daniel Bells career with the Demons.

So who do people rate out of the possible available players that may enter the PSD ?

Personally i think ball will remain a saint or enter the national, so of whose left id like to take Jessie Smith, tremendous talent do we have the time and patience to manage his injury?

OR do we go with pic 34 in this compromised draft?

Do we dare attempt to turn around the misguided Thorp?

Not that enthused about MacDonald. Or Smith.

Maybe pick 34...

I hate to fill all places before the PSD1 but...

Maybe MacDonald...

Reckon the club should direct all their energies now on Joel Macdonald for PSD #1. (I would personally try to talk Bradshaw out of Sydney but that's another story.)

Lions fans were a little shocked that Macdonald was delisted. I guess someone had to pay the price for the amount of list cloggers (eg - Staker & Raines) that Voss recruited. Anyone that picks up 32 touches and 11 marks in a match against Geelong should warrant consideration.

The only other possibilities could be Welsh and McPhee from Essendon, but I doubt both would leave Essendon despite reports.

  • REPORT: Carlton

I am now certain that the decline in fortunes of the Melbourne Football Club from a premiership power with the potential for more success to come in the future, started when the team ran out for their Round 9 match up against Carlton last year. After knocking over the Cats in a fierce contest the week before, the Demons looked uninterested at the start of play and gave the Blues a six goal start. They recovered to almost snatch victory but lost narrowly with a score of 11.10.76 to 12.5.77. Yesterday, they revisited the scene and provided their fans with a similar display of ineptitude early in the proceedings. Their attitude at the start was poor, given that the game was so winnable. Unsurprisingly, the resulting score was almost identical to that of last year and for the fourth time in succession, the club has lost a game against Carlton despite having more scoring opportunities.

  • CASEY: Carlton

The Casey Demons smashed the Carlton Reserves off the park at Casey Fields on Sunday to retain a hold on an end of season wild card place. It was a comprehensive 108 point victory in which the home side was dominant and several of its players stood out but, in spite of the positivity of such a display, we need to place an asterisk over the outcome which saw a net 100 point advantage to the combined scores in the two contests between Demons and Blues over the weekend.

  • POSTGAME: Carlton

A near full strength Demons were outplayed all night against a Blues outfit that was under the pump and missing at least 9 or 10 of the best players. Time for some hard decisions to be made across the board.
