2 "showcase" games only this week-end - all involving Top 8 teams - one versus  the reigning premiers, the other involving the blockbuster specialists - drew crowds of 44,000 and 59,000 respectively - with no competition - yet no comment AT ALL this time from El Supremo about how disappointing the crowds were / lack of support yada yada yada The Spin Doctor has gone to ground..as always..when the facts don't suit his argument

Geelong game was at AAMI where the capacity isn't much more than 44k and the other game was in western Sydney, where 59k is a pretty good result (compared to 14k at the Parramatta v Penrith NRL 'derby')

59K for a Swans game is the equivalent of about 30k for a Melbourne Storm game.

If you're going to use any example, use the Hawthorn-WC games last Friday.

Friday night, one of the top teams, heaps of members, playing a team that won a flag 2 years ago, and has one of the highest membership numbers in the league, only 29,000.

Melbourne (last, low membership) against Brisbane (lowest membership) at the MCG on a Sunday. 23,000.
