2 days to get a result means that any number of combinations of re-jigging of the match is possible ... even down to a 20 over match

But it's advantage Australia with the South Africans being 4/44 off 14 overs ... even with the D/L method.  They don't get to start again

Right now, we hold the upper hand and play is possible until about 4am today (and then all day tomorrow)

Maybe so but I reckon any change to the format which if play resumes will be certain will help SA.

I’ve been at banner but have been keeping abreast of the scores. Not much to say… SA in all sorts. But…

I never saw the very beginning of Maxi’s innings vs Afghanistan ‘til now. I didn’t know Azmat was on a hat-trick when Maxi came to the crease. Maxi was lucky not to have been caught behind without scoring a single run. He’s amazing, is our Maxi. And he’s a Victorian! 😁

Macca’s right, Deeves. You can relax, we’ve got this.

If I recall correctly, 'Cowboy from Hell' started a thread here in 2013 with the now infamous catch-cry of 'Relax, we've got this'

The team?  The Eagles.  The venue?  MCG

We lost by 15 goals!! haha

But I'm quietly confident as South Africa have to keep wickets intact which should curtail their scoring rate somewhat

How good has Hazlewood bowled!?

Yeah, you give him a track with a modicum of assistance and he is in his element

Top class seam bowler

I reckon one of the reasons that England prepared so many flat decks in the Ashes was that they were very worried about Hazlewood

I've been watching Ashes series from England since the mid 70's and usually, we get at least 3 or 4 seaming decks per series

None in 2023

My thoughts was and I may be wrong is the D.L. model will project out a number of overs that S.A may not have even actually faced being at four down already.

Whately* on radio just said that the reserve day is when the conditions of the match can change

In other words, they keep playing today to 50 overs each innings even if they know they're going to run out of time (today only)

*The game is being broadcast on SEN

    FROZEN by Whispering Jack

Who would have thought?    Collingwood had a depleted side with several star players out injured, Max Gawn was in stellar form, Christian Petracca at the top of his game and Simon Goodwin was about to pull off a masterstroke in setting Alex Neal-Bullen onto him to do a fantastic job in subduing the Magpies' best player. Goody had his charges primed to respond robustly to the challenge of turning around their disappointing performance against Fremantle in Alice Springs. And if not that, t

    TURNAROUND by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons won their first game at home this year in the traditional King’s Birthday Weekend clash with Collingwood VFL on Sunday in a dramatic turnaround on recent form that breathed new life into the beleaguered club’s season. The Demons led from the start to record a 52-point victory. It was their highest score and biggest winning margin by far for the 2024 season. Under cloudy but calm conditions for Casey Fields, the home side, wearing the old Springvale guernsey as a mark of res

    POSTGAME: Rd 13 vs Collingwood

It's Game Day and the Demons are once again faced with a classic 8 point game against a traditional rival on King's Birthday at the MCG. A famous victory will see them reclaim a place in the Top 8 whereas a loss will be another blow for their finals credentials.

    BOILED LOLLIES by The Oracle

In the space of a month Melbourne has gone from chocolates to boiled lollies in terms of its standing as a candidate for the AFL premiership.  The club faces its moment of truth against a badly bruised up Collingwood at the MCG. A win will give it some respite but even then, it won’t be regarded particularly well being against an opponent carrying the burden of an injured playing list. A loss would be a disaster. The Demons have gone from a six/two win/loss ratio and a strong percentag

CLEAN HANDS by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons headed into town and up Sydney Road to take on the lowly Coburg Lions who have been perennial VFL easy beats and sitting on one win for the season. Last year, Casey beat them in a practice match when resting their AFL listed players. That’s how bad they were. Nobody respected them on Saturday and clearly not the Demons who came to the game with 22 players (ten MFC), but whether they came out to play is another matter because for the most part, their intensity was lacking an
