A relatively decent score posted, considering. This will be interesting. But I still think we’ve nothing to worry about. 💚 💛

Very gettable target but won't be easy. I would like to know why Zampa was baught back on in the last 10 overs and why didn't Hazlewood bowl out his 10. Stange days indeed.

Wicket taking spin. Maharaj and Shamsi are pretty  good.

Yay, we made it!

Quite a nervy game of cricket. In the end it was the fielding that made the difference. There were at least 2 catches they should have taken. When De Kock spilt cummins with I think about 10 or so runs the whole SA team dropped its head.

For the final we will need Head and Warner to get off to good start. The unit not to have a brain fade ( maybe age ) when he gets to 30 or 40. And Maxwell to have some relativity pills before the game.

Our first 12 overs set up the win.  No choking, South Africa just outplayed

After that, they were never going to post a big enough score

A sporting track too which brought with it, some great cricket and a keen contest

Am I the only one confident we’ll beat the hosts tomorrow night?

It will be hard but we have the experience.

In this form of the game a team only needs 1 or 2 players to have a big day out and that can be enough to win

I remember the '75 World cup well when Viv ran out the Chappell bros and Clive made a century

Thommo & Dennis frantically trying to get to the target late in the game remains a vivid memory.  What a match that was!!

And yeah, we're in with a show and it could be a classic to match the '75 final

They bat deep but so do we ... their bowling probably shades ours but if we fire with the ball like we did against South Africa, it's back to a line-ball contest

Might come down to the fielding & catching

I’m feeling a Zampattack is on the cards. 💚💛

They score runs seriously fast. Hoping Hazlewood can bowl like he did against SA and dry up runs and make them play rash shots.

Interesting that we've won the toss and elected to bowl ... happy to chase a total.  It's a bold and confident move

Let's hope we bowl well

I think Cummins blew his shot. I would have definetly batted. Just an opinion. Hope he proves me wrong.

Hope they get Sharma and Kohli out early. Might see some decent rioting in Indian cities.😁

Remembering that 7 of our team are world cup winners whilst none of their team has even played in a WC final

I see it as an attacking, bold move.  Puts the pressure on their bowlers when we bat ... but if they post a big total, all bets are off

It was obviously a team decision to bowl as well ... I wouldn't be placing all the onus on the captain

Agreed.

We haven't chased very well.

Could be costly.

Look at the sea of blue in the crowd! The noise would be insane!

Yep, pressure is on!

Apparently the dew kicks in, in the evening which can quicken the pitch up and lessen the impact with the spinners - all in theory though.  Reality could be different

We need to get Rohit out before he creates too much havoc

That was the reason for bowling but it's risky.

Batting first satisfies those who like runs on the board but a good team can chase down a total as long as it's not too large a total

Batting first is not the cure all and never will be

I would have batted first but I'm like anyone else, an onlooker without a deep knowledge of what goes on at this level

I'm just going on our form in this cup where we have won more batting first. But Cummins is thinking the dew will affect their spinners.

Starc has hit some form at the pointy end of the series.

  • AFLW REPORT: Gold Coast

The forecast said wind. The ladder said mismatch. The scoreboard said obliteration. Melbourne didn’t just beat Gold Coast — they dismantled them: 13.15 (93) to 0.6 (6). An 87-point obliteration, the Suns held goalless, and the Demons delivering their second-highest winning margin and third-highest score in AFLW history.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: #28 Will Verrall

It was a tough ask for him to break through as a 199cm ruckman in the shadow of an all-time great in that position who is also the club captain. He had some good days at Casey but was unable to progress and was delisted at the end of the season.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: #29 Tom Campbell

The 33-year-old Campbell has yet to play AFL football for Melbourne, but his Casey form has been strong and he has been retained as a ready-made ruck depth option who is widely regarded as someone who is excellent for the culture of the club.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: #30 Harry Sharp

The Demons acquired an interesting player in Sharp, who narrowly missed securing a spot in the Lions’ premiership team last year. The 22-year-old medium forward played in the opening round this season and ended up with 18 senior games, although he was substituted in or out in for ten of those matches. He demonstrated glimpses of form, but ultimately ended the year on the margins of the team.

Worked his way back after a slow start and a further slump in form going into the midseason but became a solid contributor for the club in the latter half of 2025. Closing in on 300 goals for the club.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Gold Coast

On Friday, the Demons return to our Casey Fields fortress where they have a 77% win rate. The scent of September is in the air and the struggling Suns are on the horizon. The Cranbourne weather forecast? Ominous, like the match itself: a strong chance of carnage. Let’s be honest, last week’s first half against the West Coast was a training drill but we dropped our guard in the final quarter. While this match is a mismatch on paper — second versus seventeenth — football is won in the wind, the contests, and the moments.
