Sandringham v Collingwood

Featured Replies

Mick, you weren't the goal umpire were you? What happened mate?

Blooooody Matthew Whelan, running in slight angle 20m out. I'm waiting for him to kick it way above my head. The idiot floats it head high, with a Collingwood bloke running back to try to touch it. I try to get on the line and end up lying on the turf as the Collingwood player runs right through me!

That said, it was the most exciting part of the match...

Awfully boring.

Haha, man you got to judge a Whelan goal, you have to earn it!! That's funny stuff

Jamar - Played really well i thought. Got his fair share of posessions, made some terrible mistakes by hand, but a majority of his posessions were effective.

C. Johnson - BOG. Made one or two mistakes but his disposal usually was excellent.

Whelan - A step above this level. The way he played he may as well have played for Melbourne.

Carroll - Just a game from Chopper.

Holland and Newton did not play. Which means Holland may play tomorow.

I think Jamar is stiff not to be in even though I don't rate him I think he has been rucking better than P.J.

If Bailey's is picking on form C.J should have got a game in front of Yze, Dunn and Bode.

Whelan should never be left out of the team for this long he is just too good.

In the Age they wrote that Carroll was awesome on that dud Egan. Gavin Brown said that we just couldn't stop him. I don't want to see Carroll in the seniors but I thought you should know that the Age wrote exactly the opposite.

I would say that Holland is still injured but I hope that he does play.

he's never been in this kind of form though has he? i can't ever remember it... his form since being droped...

Round 5 V Bendigo: 4th best to Summers, Valenti, Crowe

Round 6 V Williamstown: Not named in best.

Round 7 V Tasmania: Best on ground.

Round 8 V Northern Bullants: 2nd best on ground to Yze.

Round 9 v Collingwood: Best on Ground.

Form like this needs to be rewarded. And I believe Chris will justify his selection once he finally pulls on the red and blue...

Thanks for that, I was going to ask for it

2 BOGS, a 2nd and a 4th in 5 consecutive weeks is very good form. Will surely come in next week for whoever gets injured or for the worst of Bode, Bartram, Yze, Dunn, Bell

I must say I see very little in him, but these continual Sandy reports do seem to indicate he has turned some sort of corner. Get into it son!

its actally trent zomers birthday today!

happy birthday zomertron

No one, I don't think, has mentioned him, but I reckon Stef Martin was fantastic for Sandy yesterday.

His judgment has improved phenomenally, and, although he doesn't get huge amounts of the ball, he is a fantastic spoiler.

I think Jamar is stiff not to be in even though I don't rate him I think he has been rucking better than P.J.

Admittedly I only saw the last quarter but I thought PJ did extremely well around the ground and he won the couple of tap outs I saw too

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Essendon

It’s Pink Lady night at Princes Park — a vibey Friday evening setting for a high-stakes clash between second-placed Melbourne and eleventh-placed Essendon. The wind-sheltered IKON Park, a favourite ground of the Demon players, promises flair, fire and a touch of pink. Melbourne has never lost a home-and-away game here, though the ghosts of two straight-sets finals exits in 2023 still linger.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: # 1 Steven May

The premiership defender has shown signs of wear and tear due to age, and his 2025 season was inconsistent, ending poorly with a suspension and a noticeable decline in performance. The Demons are eager to integrate younger players onto their list and have indicated that they may not be able to guarantee him senior games next season, in what would be the final year of his contract.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: # 2 Jacob van Rooyen

The young key tall failed to make progress during the season, with a decline in his goal kicking output. His secondary role as a backup ruckman, which may have hindered his ability to further develop his game, and he was also impacted by the team's poor forward connection. It will be interesting to observe his performance under a new coaching regime.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: #3 Christian Salem

Salem proved to be a valuable contributor as a reliable and solid one-on-one medium-sized defender in what was undoubtedly his most impressive season since the premiership year. He remains a highly capable rebounding option for the Demons as he approaches his 200th game at the club.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: #4 Judd McVee

Following an injury-interrupted start to the season, McVee struggled to maintain the standard he established in 2025 as he pursued an expanded role within the team structure. He remained a firm fan favourite and the club had hoped to negotiate a new contract with the former rookie selection from Western Australia, whose partner, Lily Johnson, plays for Melbourne's AFLW side. Those hopes were dashed when he expressed his desire to return to his home state and play for Fremantle. Like all players who have worn the red and blue and are leaving this year, we wish him well in the future.
