Love the Quote:

"Our culture was that it was all about the team and we were expected to be team players. It didn’t matter who was getting the publicity and winning the awards..."

Great interview, thanks for that.

'In nine seasons you played in seven Grand Finals. Bobby Skilton played in only one final in his whole career. Did you take it for granted at all?'

That's an amazing hit rate for playing in GF's.

Thanks 'MFC4Life' for sharing that great interview with the mighty Laurie Mithen. I bet 'Maurie Lithen' will find it very interesting. Mithen was tough, uncompromising and highly skilled. And how about this? Lou Richards,in his book, described Laurie as the BEST centreman he had ever seen. High praise indeed from a Collingwood man. I was very lucky to see him in action for all of his career.

Very interesting, thanks for the link. I was in Laurie's maths class at school in the 1960s. Not a bad teacher either. You knew he wouldn't take any rubbish.

  • PREVIEW: Brisbnae

They really had me fooled when I picked them with great confidence to beat the Bombers at Gather Round last week. I should have recognised that nothing is more quintessentially Melbourne than defeating the undefeated early premiership favourite one week and losing to a winless cellar dweller on its way to establishing a record losing streak the next.
