The curse is still with us!!

Yes I realised that was a poor usage of words but did not want to erouse Jazza anymore than normal so did not correct myself. Jazza spends most of his time milking cows, following the Dees as well? Forget the other strange behaviour,

Is it just we are so glad to be not playing at our graveyard out at West Lakes/ AMMI whatever that hellhole of a ground was called outside Adelaide. That ground buried many of our finals campaigns under ND, either in actual finals games or because we lost games there in the home and away we should have won and so as usual ended up finishing 7 or 8th.

I don't think he has the ability to see his faults & adjust, or he just doesn't care & ploughs straight thru. fences roads trees, whatever is in-front of his agenda.
IMO he is just dangerous, lucky 9/11 happened this morning !
9/11 this morning?

I never liked Tony but assumed he would be competent enough to run the government for a couple of terms with the help of Uncle Rupert and the Conservative bloc. But really after demanding near perfection on every issue from Julia and Kevin he is turning out to be a near total incompetent. Since his survival last week and his declaration of good government starts today, we have had the submarine debacle, the personal attack on the Human Rights Commissioner and now he has knifed Ruddick, a 40 year party veteran! There is a bad trend of Tony shooting the messenger and always spoiling for a fight, no capacity to lead or bring parties together to achieve outcomes. He can't manage business and he can only lead if there is an external enemy at the gates. As for a coherent vision for Australia forget it. All we have is a mishmash of an agenda from the Murdoch Press, the BCA and the IPA that avoids hitting the rich and powerful and anyone who has donated to the cause. All that is left for poor Joe is to kick the defenceless poor in the teeth to find savings.

Got the thunder and lightening, but bugger all rain.
Thanks for the thought's though.
Danced around the house in the nude for an hour and that didnt seem to inspire rain,so at a loss to figure out the gods.
Gee you were a bit stiff Jazza, I was down at Anglesea last night and it rained steadily from about 6 p.m to 6 a.m with some heavy downpours for a good hour early morning. The rain must have been coming in from the east rather than the south west.

What there is grass on your couch? Do you live in a paddock?
Is this the Brian Cook that could soon be CEO or coach from that other thread?
-
Tommy Rotcliff and Wines along with Jones, Tyson and Viney, hmmm what could have been and one could add Sloan. That is some mid field lost in our missed opportunities

In the Daintree... is it mushroom season up there?
Lighten up HT don't you remember your time in Graphic Arts at Swinney? A few joints going down every time I passed by on my way to the Governor Hotham for a gut full of cheap beer on a Friday!

Yes, if that was the Elvis Costello concert (I went to that Day on the Green show at Bimbadgen in the Hunter Valley), he was very off the mark with his performance. I have however seen him a couple of times since up here in Sydney at a place called Deus Cafe and on both occasions he was excellent, so I wouldn't write him off on the strength of that Day on the Green show. I also have his most recent solo album which is also well worth a listen (gifted by him - we were friends in the early 70's at Swinburne where I was studying Graphic Art).
I was also a regular at their pub shows mostly at the Kingston Hotel in West(?) Richmond and the London Tavern in South Caulfield. For the reunion shows the only originals are Steve, Martin Armiger and Andrew Pendlebury... sadly Jim Niven (the keyboard player passed away a couple of years ago here in Sydney) and I'm not sure what has happened to the bass player and drummer (names escape me) and Ed Bates the other original guitarist pre Armiger who came over from the band The Bleeding Hearts. I am pretty sure Mark Ferry (formerly of the Models and regularly in the Rockwiz band) is playing bass. I think the line-up can be found at that link I posted.
HT we must have crossed paths at some stage. Apart from hanging around the Kingston back then ( and I still do at times) I was studying at Swinburne Institute of Tech in the early 70's as well. I was studying engineering so was doing up to 26 hours a week of class time with an all male cohort so we were envious of you graphic arty types hanging around the Swinburne Caf, smoking the odd joint with a bevy of good looking women, seeking creative inspiration no doubt.
I had come from all male schools so it was all too much for me, women everywhere, but I am stuck doing lectures with a hundred male engineers. I never had much money to buy anything much but a bucket of chips and a cup of tea but it was always a good perve for the desperate to see who was there from graphic arts!
I remember there was a Scandinavian type MILF who worked the Caf tables, collecting the cups and plates and wiping the tables. She always wore a short skirt and different coloured knickers everyday that we all checked out while she was working. But you were surrounded by beauties in the arts school so would not have noticed our desperation.

I'm going tonight under protest.
Quite like Paul Simon. I was a huge fan of the Police and saw them at the first Melbourne gig at festival hall where they absolutely lifted the roof off the place - senasational.
In later years Sting has become a giant sized plonker who should be locked in a room with Bono so they can bore the socks off each other.
Hey Nutbean how did you go at the Sting and Paul S concert last night? I liked it. It was an interesting start because I was wondering who the bearded, dark haired bloke was playing guitar with Paul Simon. Then he started singing and I realised, hold on that is Sting! I should point out I am always way up in the cheap seats. Anyway the musicians from both bands were incredible as you would expect, Paul was great but I really liked Sting he can still belt out a hit big time. His voice is still very strong but not sure about the new hipster look, although he could pull a job in a Fitzroy cafe tomorrow no worries and most would not recognise him.
Now I did see security escorting out a bloke towards the end, I hope that wasn't you NT maybe you had been abusing the big plonker?

I am off to see Sting and Paul Simon tomorrow night! The reviews have been good so let's see how it goes. Mainly a Police fan myself but Paul S has had some great songs over the years as well.

Double wow - before we start the usual ritual wrist slashing, why do we believe any of this?
Why? Just the past 10 years of self destruction by successive administrations who have had a great time paying themselves overs big time and delivering jack Shyte outcomes. Other than that I don't know why I might be worried.

Swimmingly.
Any tips? Just keep it quiet between you and me. we don't want others jumping in early. I am struggling these days myself. Blue chip, high yield but they go up and then they go down. It's a roller coaster.

Cook played 4 games for us I believe, so he may want to come back but I see him fairly regularly down the Surf Coast on weekends, including outside footy season so it would have to be a great offer to get him to change his life style and he is nearing retirement age if he wants to. (I went to school with him)
He would be a great get but myself I would be sticking with PJ, after all CEOs don't kick the goals. You need a very competent administrator who recognises management talent and demands hard work from those around him for the good of the club. He is not necessarily some premiership guru. Geelong's success was one part great admin, one part father son and a few parts great/ fortunate drafting.

Macca
Eric is good but Eric and Stevie Winwood is double. I reckon.

If you're a professional athlete you should probably maintain exemplary fitness all year around. It's their career path, after all.
If you read about Sally Pearson's training regime this summer you would laugh at Sylvia and any concept that he might be an elite sportsman. But you might add most of the AFL to that list as well, I think Sally may b ahead of most but doesn't have the contract to show it.

HP Assembly language. Flicking switches to enter the code. Monash Uni circa 1974.
I can remember marking punch cards in pencil for the girls to punch out and put through the mainframe computer at Swinburne Tech in the 70's. You would then get printout of the code I think. That mainframe that took up half a room would have had about a megabyte of grunt and memory is my guess.
Oh and I did COBOL and some fix up programming for Y2K if you can remember that impending disaster back in 1999!

Nutbag Abbott on Australia day after Phil.
I didn't expect it but will carry the burden
Welcome to the Aristocrosy Sir WYL. Make the most of it as I believe Tony may be in a spot of bother! I fear we may be facing the rule of the mob come next week.

I've always found it amazing the effect of the music that one listened to when aged 17-21 - it just stays with you. Not necessarily the bands or the songs but the style and the beat. My favourite style is funky jazz/rock but I can listen to and enjoy just about anything.
Here's 'Conquistador' from Procul Harem followed by a funky number featuring Bruno Mars. A huge contrast but there's no accounting for taste! (especially when it comes to music)
Loved both Macca. I had totally forgotten about Conquistador from my early teens, brought back some memories. And the Bruno track is outstanding, anything up beat with plenty of brass gets me in, aka Style Council and I knew a mates brother who, played trombone with Kids in the Kitchen all those years ago. Yeah you are right you tend to like the type of music, big guitar or plenty of brass that was around when you were young.
PS I reckon the Missus will love the Bruno track that is her type of song, being a teacher she is always trying to stay in tune with the kids to some degree at least.

If Dill has any balls he will request a re jig of the fixture next week
It's not as if Essendrugs situation is going to change
Sir WYL just asking when did you get your overdue, and much deserved "gong"? People like yourself will no doubt help lift the tone of debate here on Demonland
-
Not to be confused with Boko Harem!!He was also outstanding when he was with Procol Harum
I have been playing Bridge of Sighs, Too Rolling Stoned and A Little Bit of Sympathy in the car this week at high volume too. It is driving the Missus mad, she just does not appreciate an electric guitar! Just don't understand it.

So glad we picked up Addam Maric one pick before Selwood went to West Coast...
I remember that draft and when we went past Selwood I thought gee if I was a recruiter I would play safe and take a Selwood. The recruiters must be super confident and this Maric kid must be good.
As it often happens it pays to play the percentages. In Selwood we would have got a real soldier. In Maric we got an immature kid who wasn't ready for AFL. An interview or two may have picked that weakness up.

Intra Club - Thursday 19 February 2015 at Casey Fields @ 3pm

Intra Club after today? Call it off that would be far too dangerous at this stage. And I am not sure on the NAB either, that could be dangerous as well. And as for round 1 forget it I say too much can go wrong.
