  1. Considering the amount of whinging about access and parking at Casey, why have your practice match at the time when all surrounding grounds are engaged in local and district cricket as well as tennis and the display home crowd would see traffic and parking in the area already busy?

    Just saying..................

I also could not understand the lack of membership, bbq or merchandise and believe the club missed a trick there.

  2. In certain eras, clubs have stood for certain things.

    Richmond 60-70's: Ruthlessness.

    Hawthorn (Since 1961): Discipline.

    Carlton (70's-80's): Professionalism/Arrogance/Success

    North (70's): Innovation

    Sydney (00's onwards): Accountability/teamwork

Sometimes these reputations fade. Richmond's reputation morphed from one that symbolized ruthlessness in the pursuit of success to symbolizing a chronic impatience and a need to feed a completely unreasonable supporter base. Carlton's reputation morphed from one of success to one that couldn't hear the train coming until it was much too late (see their 2002 season).

Basically all those listed stood for winning, so does this mean only the most successful clubs over various periods stand for anything ?

Bottom line is you can only stand for one of two things, winning/success or losing/failure, those mentioned above didn't stand for those things it's just a description of how they achieved success, and if they hadn't won anything would we think thats what they "stood for".

    Doubtful.

  3. It wouldn't matter to me how much training I've seen over the summer - unless it improves on match day then it hasn't improved at all, training or not. Any bloke with a foot can look good without the pressure that match day brings, whether that be in some match sim or during some drills. He is only as good as his last season, and his last season showed his skills and decision making to be average at best.

Until he can consistently show improvement on match day then I put no stock in training at all.

Surely the only way he can improve his deficiencies is to work on them during training and going by reports he has worked on his disposal, and his team mates are working on running to give more options.

Agree they need to show it on match days but I'm glad they are working hard at recognizing and improving what they need to, so they can improve.

After all that is what training is for and I'm not as quick to dismiss it out of hand.

  4. All these blokes can kick, up until recently their team mates gave them little to kick to as they did not work hard enough to make position, or create space.

If this can be turned around those who have been pilloried for their poor disposal may well surprise.

Much of our poor disposal is due to lack of viable options and team mates poor work rate than straight out sub standard skill.

We also have more than our fair share of poor decision makers when under pressure.

  5. Seems many are linking best players with most important players.

Most important for us is not our best, most consistent players as we know we get quality from them, it is those who need to bring their A game week in week out and the new recruits who will carry us forward.

Pick any five you like out of Gawn, Toumpas, Kent, Salem, Hogan, JKH, Watts, Brayshaw, Petracca, Frost or Newton.

I'm sure I have missed others but you get the idea.

  6. Well he would want to end up a seriously good player.

Paid overs for a guy off the rookie list when we potentially had a Corey Ellis or Tom Lamb.

Who potentially could be our next Gysberts or Cook.

I think we are going a little over the top on an off the cuff remark made on SA radio aren't we?

Lets just take a deep breath and wait to see what we actually do come draft day rather than go through every possible poor result that might happen.

Frost for 23 is probably overs but not ridiculously so, especially as he will fill a specific role which we need.

  7. Roosy before it was announced but I kept my mouth shut.

    McLean to Carlton, big whoop.

A bit of social / personal stuff that would just get deleted on here but plenty of it eventually gets alluded to in the media.

Quite a few things before 2012, but I forget what they were, that's not a cop out, I went code blue a couple of times in intensive care in 2012 and my once excellent memory has been [censored] since.

Got the Judd one very wrong, I remember that.

I'm just adding to hope after I recieved the message. I'd like you all to be as crushed and disappointed as me if it doesn't happen.

    But I really am excited.

From someone who has no contacts or insiders, thanks for passing on the info.

I will take it for what it is and try to temper my excitement.

  8. Trenners, Toumpas,Grimes and Watts obviousley are not worthy of trade. I still believe that they are a big part of the problem at the moment.

Trenners and Toumpas need a clean, uninterrupted run at it.

Grimes and Watts are favorite whipping boys who have shown a fair amount of loyalty when it would've been easy to walk away.

Happy for all four to stay.
