He will learn, I hate it when he overestimates himself and gets caught trying to break through but I guess as he gets older and stronger it will happen. He's got some faults but they can be ironed out.
  2. Whatever the case it's great to see we have drafted some quality, I was getting sick of seeing most other clubs getting good players at both ends of the draft whilst we struggled to get anything good with high picks. The choice of JKH was inspired and this kid will be a star, although I'm not sure where he will finish up playing, he can just about play anywhere, forward or back or midfield. Tyson, Salem and JKH, then throw in Vince, Cross, Michie and Riley and you have 5 long term and 2 teachers all in the one draft. Of course you have a few young kids as well, Hunt, King and Harmes; you have to wonder where we'd be if Roos, Taylor and Viney had had the opportunity to do this last year and the year before.
  3. In all the excitement Jack Viney is slipping under the Radar, along with Nathan Jones.
  4. I guess the best thing to come out of all this is that we now know we don't have to finish last to build a side, we now have people in place to pick good talent all the way through the draft and others in place to develop them. Dom would have been a good player even in our old system but now he will be an A grade player because of our excellent coaching panel.
  5. Once his short game improves a bit he will be a complete player, that will come and it will improve those around him. Wow, we've got a player in Dom Tyson.
  6. Quality young man who will be a very good player for us, some of his ball handling is exceptional and if he's got a bit of confidence in his ability then all the better. Just on Bob Murphy, it surprised me to see him run away from JKH I didn't realise that Murph was that quick.
  7. Dom has a great left foot but it let's him down a bit when he has to kick under 30mtrs; when he has a ping at goal from outside 50 you can almost back it in.

I've tried to respond to this thread many times but it's been too hard, so I haven't but I join in all those that express their sorrow at two shed's passing. It's a horrible disease and as you get older you find it affects your family, your friends and those that you know on a casual basis, every time you have to take your loved one to the doctor you fear the worst and hope for the best. Enjoy your life it's only temporary and somewhat fleeting.
  9. The fact that Jetta was our last pick in the draft would indicate to me that the clue don't expect a lot from him. It would seem that he will have to show a lot to get a game, and a lot more to get another contract next year. I like Nev, as do most on here, but this is a business and he hasn't shown enough in the time he's been on the list.

Welcome aboard tbf, not the same level of personal insult here that there was there. Surprised it took you so long.

Too many people think that because a player bursts on to the scene he will inevatabely fade and the sure and steady will come through in the end, well that doesn't always happen. Sometimes a player bursts on to the scene because he's a good player and it may surprise a few but these players can actually get better too, it's not just the sure and steadies that go on to be good footballers. God forbid we'd pick a player that's ready to play when we can get one that's got a lot of development in him. There has to be common sense used and a player like Wines screamed "pick me". We passed over a player who is and will be an excellent player, for another we hope we can develop in to one; let's just hope they haven't stuffed this one up too.

I have no problem with people having a differing opinion than me, I enjoy debating them, it would be a fairly poor forum if we all agreed. I notice you had no answer to my other points, I guess you'd prefer just to have a go at me instead; that doesn't surprise me at all.

For your sake I hope you are a bit smarter by then, though I doubt it. No need to reply you are about to join the other idiot on my ignore list and you have to be pretty stupid to get on there.

I guess that those who have played at the highest level and are now commentators, wouldn't have the same level of understanding of the game that you have. Wines is like any first year player, he will have good games and not so good games and he will not necessarily play every minute of any game so it doesn't surprise that he will be sub or even miss a game here and there. He is playing in a top 8 side and has played all games so far, Jimmy is playing in a [censored] side and has missed a few; I think I know who has the runs on the board so far. BTW if you can't cope with the Wines/Toumpass comparison, don't read any of the posts that mention it, simple really.

As one of the commentators said yesterday, something always happens when Wines has the ball. Toump will be ok but Ollie is going to be a gun.

I feel sorry for Jones because he gets his head belted every week by the opposition and rarely gets paid a free kick for it. His playing career will hopefully balance out in the next few years; if it doesn't with Melbourne, it's probably because we no longer exist.
  18. I rarely venture over here and only did by mistake today when a thread I wanted to read redirected me to the general board; now I can see why. I thought I'd been transported to Demonology and nearly had my own meltdown. Before you throw a tizz Hardtack that was a joke but not meant trivialise Japan, the people of Japan or any visitors to Japan. Furthermore it was in no way intended to be racist and nothing you can conjure up in your mind will alter that. I think I will go back to the non confrontational Footy board now.
  19. How so? Are you suggesting Drugs for all, Government supplied? What would you propose to do with the additional drug addicts that would be out on the streets? We could have crack rooms in the workplace and allow workers time to slip down to the Chemist to get a refill of their prescription at morning tea time? Sorry I did say i wouldn't post on here anymore but this is becoming a bit ridiculous.
  20. You will also note that I said that a lot of kids who were unaware of the consequences start drinking at an early stage through peer pressure and I fit in to that category. I'm probably a lot older than you and when I was a very young boy there were no warnings about the problems of drinking, I caved in to the pressure when I was about 14 and unable to make an informed decision whether drinking was good for me or not. I regretted the day I started and continue to regret the time I lost in my life when I was drunk. I did say I wouldn't post anymore but I had to respond to that.
  21. Me too, I don't think I have anything further to add and I can't be bothered saying the same thing over and over again except in a different form.
  22. Quite a few kids drink alcohol when they are young and incapable of rational thought, they usually pinch some from the fridge and drink because of peer pressure; at that stage I doubt they would consider or even be aware of the consequences. Drug taking is creeping down too and there are many stories of drugs being available at schools in one form or another and the same thing applies to the drinking of alcohol in a lot of these instances, the kids are too young to fully understand. My beef is with those old enough and smart(?) enough to know what the ultimate effect could be; I don't know when Ben started but i would assume that when he did he was aware of the consequences. If his whole lifestyle revolves around those that take and those that sell he will never get out of that cycle.
  23. I'm sure at times it does I can draw on my own experience when I did drink, there would be many a time I'd look at myself in the mirror in the morning after a big session the day before and ask myself why I do it only to go out and do it again that day. Of course there would be times he'd reflect, but as soon as the first call in the morning came from a mate saying he had some stuff, all that would be out the window and he'd be off for another day of whatever he was able to get. I had many mates who rang me and wanted "lunch" and it was hard to knock them back but you eventually have to make a decision about your life and where you want to head. Until Ben decides that, he is trapped in an ever decreasing cycle of doom and eventually he'll be found either dead or close to it.
  24. I am probably one of the few who don't drink at all, zero alcohol. I used to drink many years ago but woke up with a really bad hangover one day 23 years ago and decided that I wouldn't drink anymore and haven't to this day.
  25. As I said there is ample information available to show that if you take drugs there is a good chance that you will become addicted. If you choose to ingnore the information because you believe that it will never happen to you then you are either stupid or arrogant. I cannot believe that people would consider injecting themselves or swallowing something that could potentially ruin their lives. I doubt that Ben even cares what we think, he is probably too tied up with his criminal mates and his own search for the next good time it just doesn't matter any more.
