  1. Look at the boys get around jack! That's spirit.been a critic of him like everyone but no one doesn't want him to succeed
  2. Jones has a real steely look in his eye. I know he always looks focused but today looks even more intense. Cant wait to see him have a massive game and carry us over the line
  3. it would be good to see the final team before submitting your own. But unless you pull a "injury in the warm up" I think that's all we can do. We look far too tall now.
  4. oh yeah I called the ruckman late change. Now we look too tall with Fitz.
  5. Terrific post. You sure can pick them. Where were you last year to critique him after averaging 24 disposals, 11 brownlow votes and averaging 3.4 tackles a game? Muppet.
  6. Today is the first queens birthday match I've missed in 7 years. I've never seen melbourne win, the closest I've seen was a draw. I remember having a good feeling turning up in 2011 when we had a run of good form leading into the game and Collingwood had a few players out, only to be beaten by 15 goals. I sat last year with the family of 2 of our current players and watched perhaps the most boring game of footy I've ever seen. If it wasn't for work I'd be there again, but I am sick to death of waiting all weekend to watch this game and hope we put in a fight, only to get steamrolled. With the events leading up to today, and Neale having his input at training etc, the players owe it not only to Neale, but the rest of the supporters who have put up with so many mediocre performances on this day over the past 7 years. The windy weather won't help with our poor foot skills and if it turns into an arm wrestle I feel we have too many players who can't win 1 on 1 contests compared to Collingwood. Collingwood look quite tall with 2 rucks and white which could lead to a late change if it starts to rain early. Really hope gawn shows he is capable, think this is the best ruck combination he could compete against to get some confidence. I'd love to say we are going to win but I feel Collingwood have too much midfield depth for us, which has been the story of our year. Hopefully I'm wrong.
  7. Just shows we need to add someone like prestia along with a free agent like danger field. He won't sign with us now, but we need to add 2 a/b+ muds and hope for a clean bill of health. Vince, Lamumba etc should all be outside, we need viney, brayshaw etc to kick on and we need help. Our list from 28-42 stinks. If it doesn't stink because of players who can not play footy when the going is tough, it stinks because they are young and inexperienced. I'd much rather gamble on 10 inexperienced than holding on to the same pea hearts who can't hit a contest or hurt the opposition. Our top 15 is fine, our next 10-13 are learning... but until we have a list who give week in week out, we will always get blown away. We desperately need 2-3 top mids. That helps Jones, Tyson etc and pushes the others out to the wings god its frustrating
  8. Glass half full kind of guy, so I'm gonna turn it off now and not ruin my weekend. Pathetic. Witches hats have been more proactive. Have a good weekend everyone
  9. Could you shut up? When was the last time you watched a melbourne game? Toumpas is coming off a 2 goal, 20 disposal 8 tackle 3 inside 50 game, yet you're still giving him stick. We get it, you don't like him. Your last 400 posts all fins a way to criticize him. Give up man. Go and run a bath, have a cup of tea, change your diet to something with lower cholesterol- your blood pressure is through the roof over 3 players last week that played their roles. Give us a spell of you incessant, tiresome drivel and focus on some of the good. Ffs
  10. Forget the last 20 minutes. Howe had a set shot which hit the post, had it of gone through the difference would have been 22. Against the team that looks destined to finish top 2, that a reasonable result. We lacked a bit of polish, we couldn't help hogan out and we are still 1 or 2 midfielders short on depth. The reality is we are still a while off the top teams, but with viney, jetta, dawes out and Jones and Tyson clearly injured, we put up a good fight for 3 and a half quarters. Disappointing that we got nothing out of watts again. Someone needed to step up across half forward to help hogan out and Pedersen was solid, but watts offered nothing. Howe continues to miss kickable goals and garlett wasn't much better. Take some positives and keep working hard after getting a reality check and look forward to taking on a sydney team that will come out and play equally as hard.
  11. That was one of the most gutsy wins you will see. Really starting to like watching the dogs play. Credit to them for turning it around we well.
  12. We still have plenty of quality players that will play tomorrow. If I was coaching against melbourne, Kent, jetta amd dawes don't exactly come to mind if I was looking to beat melbourne. I'd be looking at Jones, Tyson, garlett and now hogan. We have replaced 3 players with another 3 players and while we might lose kents speed and jetta tying down a small, the 3 inclusions will give there all. It's not going to be a free scoring open game, so if grimes can hold Walters or Ballantyne, helped by garland, and Mckenzie can tackle and keep the ball in possession when he has it, I don't see us considerably weakened. Pedo may even be an upgrade as teams tend to watch dawes closer, maybe Pedo can get more freedom without being double teamed as dawes was. Just want to see us win the tackle count, contested possessions and be competitive in the clearances. If we can get 40 inside 50s we could score enough to win. Go Dees.
  13. Haha. Poor old croweaters haven't seen any rain for a while. Maybe that's why.
  14. I was sitting on the 50 at the Bradman end. Sure, it was drizzling but it never got very heavy. Perhaps on the ground it may have been different but I was in the open. Besides, grounds these days absorb so much water before they become heavy underfoot. I don't see the weather being an issue at all for us from last week.
  15. To be fair, the conditions at adelaide weren't nearly as bad as it probably looked on TV. I was sitting by the fence and I didn't move the whole time, and my jacket was not overly wet. If anything it just made the ball greasy. Sure, it was a physical game, but that's how roos has primed us to play. In my opinion, the tiges coming off am easy game in Brisbane but in warmer conditions would probably be less ideal as a warm up, especially if tonight is wet as predicted. If we can shut down their spread and turn it into a tough, physical game I think we will win and win well. But if we allow them to get wide and spread, with easy footy they will cut us up. They still have a lot of strength in their line up.
  16. Games aren't won on paper or reputation. Sure adelaide look strong over the past few weeks, But any team can beat anyone on their day. It's breezy and overcast in adelaide and showers are forecast. Who knows what this funny game can throw up.
  17. Adelaide are going alright but they are hardly unbeatable. Cut their cheap kicks where they set up play from the back half, tag smith with Kent if he plays, try to cut Sloane out around stoppages (in my opinion more damaging than paddy) and pressure the ball carrier through the midfield so tex doesn't get it lace out. I like our chances more at adelaide oval since it's not as wide, we get cut up from teams in the corridor because we defend too wide. This enables us to narrow our zone slightly. If nev and Tommy can keep Betts and walker quiet, and paddy doesn't go bonkers, we could be a sniff. Providing the team answers to last week's capitulation- a trait we haven't seen for years now.
