  1. I think you're putting too much trust in the media. the Pies wouldn't have offered De Goey the deal they did if they didn't have money. i think they're trying to trade Treloar out of a combination of - thinking he'll struggle away from his partner and the feeling that 900k could be better spent on other players
  2. I definitely think that could be part of the strategy from their end. they'd be obviously keen on giving up less from a trade perspective but the Pies would be looking at a complete salary dump and the real value for the Hawks in getting the Pies to pay some of the salary in question. Will be very interesting to see what unfolds. i imagine we'd be a chance to get in on the Phillips chase if the price point was suitable for us.
  3. I don't know mate, i've got some pretty good connections to the Pies (I know... i know...) and i can tell you for a fact they're not actually this sloppy. there is a lot more to this story. i don't know for sure if we're into him or not, i'd be genuinely shocked for a bunch of reasons if we were. but i think you're running with the media narrative a little bit, and allowing yourself just enough doubt to back away if it doesn't pan out. Treloar has 3 possible destinations as i see it, just logistically, Essendon, Hawthorn and the dogs. i think the dogs are the most suitable because a trade is doable, they've got the cap space and he wants to go to a finals contender. we can't do a deal without it being a bargain basement type deal, we don't have the cap space and who knows if we're a finals contender?
  4. I'm with @Lord Nev on this one. the Pies are far too smart an organisation to put themselves in the position you're assuming, they'll have a plan in place if a deal can't be done, and more than likely they'll get a deal sorted out that's a win-win. i strongly suggest it'll be the dogs for a number of reasons, but i can't really imagine a way we'd go there
  5. Treloar is going to the bulldogs. time to move on from that fantasy guys. he'll be involved in the Dunkley deal.
  6. I think it's a bit irresponsible for the AFL to allow the trade/free agency period to begin without giving the clubs an answer on salary cap/list sizes for 2021. clubs are effectively working around their best guesses and with a blindfold on.
  7. the spoof page is hilarious! i've been banned but i can still view posts, just not comment. the young man who runs it wasn't happy with my suggestion that Christian Petracca was a better player than jack Billings.
  8. That facebook page is run by a young kid and is well known for providing very unreliable "Exclusives" that they've stolen off another forum. i follow them for the laughs they're that bad
  9. Left field option. ask for Matt Suckling in return. i understand Suckling is a bit older, and soft. but he's experienced and a great kick and offers something we lack. Suckling is currently out of contract and i feel like he's more valuable to us than the player we might otherwise pick for a late pick in exchange for Hannan
  10. I'm pretty confident Clarry will sign on for another 2 over the off season :) don't believe we'll get a long term deal, i think we will convince him to hang around until F/A and then if we don't improve we'll lose him.
  11. Interesting. i'll take a run at this. Ben Brown - Mfc 2021 Second round pick & a later pick swap. Picks 25, 43 and Mitch Hannan - Dogs first rounder - 15?ish (Dogs needing points ) Might need more here but general idea Pick 15, Brayden Preuss - Giants pick 10 (compo) Tmac - Bombers - Essendon pick 42 Out: TMAC, Hannan, preuss, picks 25, 43, future second rounder In: Ben Brown, pick 10, lots of cap space. (Optimistic but worth a try)
  12. I wouldn't go near him. there is a reason a team desperately trying to recruit players with speed and X-Factor has delisted a player with both of those things
  13. I wouldn't be surprised if Angus Brayshaw requests a trade, or has already. the frustrations of a group of players at the club as @Lord Nev and others have mentioned is a very real thing. Gus could easily walk into another side, play his actual position every week and become the footballer we all know he should be.
  14. I totally understand the move of Harmes to half back, it just hasn't worked out. and you're kind of robbing peter to pay paul by giving up one of the only mids with actual leg speed to try and cover the lack of leg speed down back.
  15. Potentially the thinking is more to trade that pick would be my guess.
  16. Can't help but think we're trying to gather up some later picks with this deal, Hannan, Preuss and looking to offer up a few selections to the dogs for their first rounder, given their desire for points.
  17. I'll repeat. take everything you hear on Demonland or any other fan forum with a grain of salt.
  18. Interesting read. I think we both suffer from a similar flaw in that our midfielder are all far too similar, Petracca the obvious point of difference. In terms of forwards. Brown is the best proven performer but it's hard to know if he'll quite get back to his best, Membrey imo is very underrated. a very consistent performer. and i think the Saints are MUCH better at ground level than us. I think the Saints also comfortably have us covered in terms of system and chemistry. they just look like a really well coached team these days.
  19. I've said this before, if you're coming on a football fan forum and you're not taking every single thing you read with a grain of salt, you've only got yourself to blame. and if you're getting upset or annoyed at posters for getting it wrong, grow up. I almost never share the intel i get on the public forum anymore because it's genuinely not worth the BS that comes with it.
  20. The Saints position is a really good example of what you can do if you manage your salary cap well and recruit well. they've got a really clear understanding of how they want to play and they're recruiting accordingly. I think they're really only lacking some polish off half back and they should be ready for a serious flag tilt
  21. Trading Jesse Hogan ultimately for Steven May and KK is a huge win. we've traded someone who has struggled for one of if not the most dominant defender in the comp
  22. I'd imagine if no options come forward we may keep Mitch Brown for another year?
  23. Yeah i certainly did find that interesting. felt like he was putting the message out to managers of fringe players who play that role who might be looking for another club. I can't imagine it being anyone better than fringe as we wouldn't wanna take game time away from the big 3
  24. Anyone know of any good trade targets?
  25. There is absolutely no chance we'd move on as many players as we have, and offer up as many mature players as we have, if we didn't have some things in the works.
