That he can make around $350K through paid ig posts and that changing clubs likely won’t change his audience size.

$350k - is that per year?  Holy Moses no wonder everyone wants to be a bloody influencer.

For full transparency I have unfollowed him on instagram and he can have my viewership back when he puts the Melbourne jumper back on.

I understand that players have a limited career, but does his influence will slowly fade as soon he is no longer a footy player?

but in 10,20,30 years time is he going to regret not coming to premiership reunions because he burnt his team mates?

I reckon trading Trac fast trac's (sorry) a rebuild, if we run it back next year with the same group we're probably in the 6th - 12th no mans land area, plus the added media pressure and [censored] show of Trac speculation

You're also taking a punt his value holds in 12 months time if he has a down year given the injury, should he want out then

I know it's a very Americanised take to blow it all up, but if you can sell high (ish) on Trac, and also get multiple first round picks for Pickett (who's return home seems an inevitability at some stage of his career), I'd do it

Trac is 28 nearly 29, recovering from a serious injury.  I still don’t have enough info, but I can see why selling high - IF he doesn’t want to be there - makes sense.

Pickett on the other hand is 23, about to hit is prime, I just can’t see any value in trading him for picks.  If we did it would be a huge loss, similar to losing Jackson, simply a player that you never really replace.

  3. Just wondering how that conversation goes

“Hey Charlie (cornrow), sounds like petracca may want to come here, how would you like to go to Melbourne?”

    Nup

”Hey Harry, Charlie said no, but how about you go to Melbourne instead”

    Nup

At least this whole mess might cause some trouble at Carlton - haha

I'm up to page 20, will need a couple of goes at this.

What I'm taking from this is that nominations were not allowed from non-directors  unless they were directly challenging the chair?

I read it that it was the opinion of the board that trying to nominate to be on the board without being asked would be considered by them “adversarial”.

Nominations are allowed it’s just they didn’t like it.

The whole Peter Lawrence situation is weird, he got nominated, didn't get the votes, had a sulk, took the club to court, didn't win, sulked, wants to ask 'us' for his support, if he doesn't get it he will sulk again no doubt, if he wants to waste money, give it to charity. They might name something after him, that is obviously something he needs to make his life complete.

I just find him rather sad.

    Really?

It seems to me all he wanted was a reasonable chance to put forward a case to the voting members as to why he would be a better candidate.

He was not given that chance.

I don’t know the bloke, but it sure seems like all he asked for was a democratic election process.

I read the judgement and it sure seems like his requests were fair and reasonable.

  6. Can we have a discussion about centre clearances.  I concede that there is nuances around centre clearance, that mean winning every centre clearance isn’t necessary, especially if the opposition kick dirty ball in that we can intercept and slingshot from.

But I don’t think it’s any coincidence that the first quarter saw us win some centre clearance, get territory and then lock it in with pressure resulting in a fairly dominant quarter.

Post 1st quarter The Giants then were able to get on top in the middle.  This is a repeat pattern that opposition is winning clearance but are getting cleaner entries than we would like, putting our defence under way too much pressure.

I can concede we have had injuries, But we have the premier ruckman in the comp and our midfield cattle is good.

Is this an Yze vs Mcqualter thing or what is going on in the centre clearances.

The umpire paid a free kick to Lowman because he feel heavily. 🤷‍♂️

Was that the one where the umpire took forever to blow this whistle, but the crowd were booing so he thought he better do something….

$5.80? That is crazy. Will be getting some of that.

Do they think we are Nth Melbourne?  I hope someone shows the players that and asks them to show the footy world what they think of that level of disrespect.

Surely $4.40 for a team sitting above another team on the ladder would have to be some sort of record this late in the season. Even Port were shorter odds against the Lions in the QF in 2023.

I honestly can’t remember the last time we won a game being such underdogs. Probably Perth in 2018 at Optus to claim top 8.

$4.95 I just got, and the line was 29 points head start with Jake lever back in the side.

Look I don’t think we will win on probabilities, but those odds are too juicy to ignore.

How about a retroactive one for Rozee in-front of goal? Or about 100 other players.

Lets be honest, May did it to reverse what would’ve been a heinous holding the ball free.

Now, why Steven May is a deer in the headlights and can’t run with the footy I don’t know but it’s been an escalating problem for a while. The big fella doesn’t like being tackled.

Maybe it’s something to do with those cracked ribs?

  11. Barring Jake Lever, all our key defensive stocks are 30+.  Let’s face it Jake Lever is almost with them.

It makes sense for us to make changes that are in the right age profile where possible in an incremental way.  Rather than us losing 2 or 3 in one hit.

Seems like the right type of player to me.  I’d rather take a known quantity in the key defensive posts than risking drafting for one given our current age demographic in this area.
