  1. Not a bad earner these Anzac day matches Every extra dollar over the base price (of which they get a share anyway) goes to the Bombers http://www.afl.com.au/news/2017-03-03/bombers-push-up-anzac-day-ticket-prices
  2. half back .. half forward .. they're all mid fielders these days
  3. Dylan Shiel is probably one of their best midfielders after Toby Greene. Would not come cheap and could therefore upset the salary balance in the midfield

Bunny Te Kokiri Miha Waahi Walters ... now passed as they say in formal circles .... says thank you with more thanks Scott English and apologies to Caroline, Mary and Adele Yandall, and later younger sister Pauline Yandall.
  5. That link to Power without Glory has disappeared by the look of it Tried another link and got Richard and Ana after sex ... fascinating world .... youtube ... if you go beyond the DIY videos which is my usual domain. The other old series I am looking for is Phoenix based loosely on the Russel Street Bombings. Got the first season from my local library but have never been able to find the second season. What did you guys think of the Young Pope?
  6. Have not had time to go through last year's All Australian list but the centre line of Hanneberry, Josh Kennedy and Rory Sloane are: Pick 30, Father son to Hawthorn and then traded to the Swans and pick 44 respectively. I suppose you could also use the top 50 list but it seems that the draft is still a lottery
  7. Gil comes out and says that the Gillard report cleared the club and recommended no action. On 3AW... the Sun to report tomorrow that this was not the whole story. Gillard was asked to report in 2007 whether the pre 2007 unbecoming conduct by the Eagles had been cleaned up. He was not asked to report on the pre 2007 conduct. Gillard reported that yes what had happened pre 2007 was no longer happening. Summary.... the Eagles were never reprimanded in any way for their pre 2007 misconduct. Another cover up in 2007 but what is worse a spin on the real story..... When is the AFL going to get it that it needs to admit the faults of the past and only then can it move on.
  8. The West Coast allegations deserve consideration but not in a way that detracts from the Essendon saga
  9. Good to see a little resistance 13 runs behind ...... 20 minutes until tea on the last day and six wickets in hand the next hour's play will be fascinating As an aside... I know we don't play Khawaja because of his difficulty with spin ... but Warner's tour has been diabolical
  10. GWS..... premiers forever.... that will make AFL happy ......... they would be even happier if Brisbane and GCS could snag a premiership or two Did you notice that notwithstanding the opening round being played over many days ... we won the graveyard shift of Saturday twilight and just for good measure up against qualifying session for the Melbourne GP
  11. As Guru Bob once so famously said: "When two big men fly for the ball... only one can find Nirvana"
  12. Well it is the biggest game of the year (as seen through the eyes of the EFC)
  13. So very true Cannot help but wonder if in a few years we will be reading about all the disqualifications from the recent Rio Olympics. The performance of a certain female swimmer definitely raised my eyebrows and sent me off looking for her past performance record. On the Wiggins affair just like the Bombers it needs to be made an offence for the player to ingest something without proper records. This might stop the fiasco of the dog ate my homework excuse. Finally what does this say about the recent dominance of the UK in track and road cycling. Naively I was thinking that the sport had cleaned itself up.
  14. A blistering well written article... well worth the read.... another snippet: "Those who were at Windy Hill at the time recall the chain of command and attitude of those running football was so inappropriate to that of a professional organisation that if the injecting and dangerous drugs regime hadn't happened some other scandal would have eventually brought them down. "
  15. Interesting ..... if that recording was done in NSW it would have been illegal but in Victoria if one of the persons present made the recording it is legal irrespective of whether the others in the room knew about it. Frankly it is an amazing development.... not in what it reveals but as proof that there are many with different agendas who will not let the matter rest. I still think Danks wants to tell all but perhaps he would like to be paid for his version. Maybe we could start a crowd funding to get Danks' story!
  16. Justice for the 34..... the new Winslow boys ! Perhaps a movie by Oliver Stone could re-write history
  17. The sale by Lloyd and Hird of their domain names has been known for years.... Here is a long discussion about it on Big Footy in 2003 https://www.bigfooty.com/forum/threads/bombers-web-sham-exposed.70515/
  18. There you have it Sherlock. my friend.......... Only a matter of time until he does the paid expose.... it won't be through mainstream media but I am sure someone will come up with a pay per view equivalent that will net him a few dollars
  19. Go back to day one when the big D phoned EFC and..... http://www.smh.com.au/business/andrew-demetrious-links-to-james-packer-at-centre-of-betting-industry-stink-over-clubsnsw-deal-20170214-gucpbk.html fascinating reading No illegalities but naivety at the very least

Just came across another business disrupter that I had not heard of before. They are called Lemonade Inc and they are a peer to peer insurance agency. Basically it facilitates groups of like situated people or businesses to "insure each other." https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Peer-to-peer_insurance Fascinating concept and another example of the web driving new business models
  21. Sarah Palin as ambassador to Canada perhaps: https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2017/feb/08/sarah-palin-touted-as-us-ambassador-to-canada Some of the comments on the possibility: The comments prompted Canadians to muse about the qualifications being sought in the position. “This is entirely because Sarah Palin can see Canada from Alaska, isn’t it?” read one tweet, while another said: “Just cus @SarahPalinUSA ‘probably’ knows the difference between a moose & a beaver shouldn’t make her a Canadian ambassador option.” Many of those who spoke out online rejected the idea. “Palin as ambassador is an insult. To any country.” Another added, “Dear Mr. Trump: Rather than appoint Sarah Palin as ambassador to Canada, please bomb us. Signed, all intelligent life in Canada.”
  22. The last single term presidents were Jimmy Carter and George Bush senior. Almost certain that Donald will join this team simply because of the third of the Americans who did not vote in the last election there will be enough that come out to vote for anyone but Trump. Frankly I cannot see him standing in 2020. If you follow this through the Republican leaders will be trying to distance themselves from Trump in time for the mid term elections due in November 2018. Unfortunately the Donald can do a lot of damage in the meantime but at least he ain't going to be around for long. Of course what replaces him is a fascinating question. The next biggie is the French elections with Marie Le Pen and the National Front. First round is on April 23 with the second round due two weeks later on 7 June.

Depends a lot on what State they are in as to who gets the taxes and the amount of those taxes. According to this extract the taxes on lotteries are much higher than on bookmaking. " Lotteries are taxed more heavily than other forms of gambling, with tax rates on player loss ranging from 45 to 90 per cent (Australian Treasury 2008). Average tax rates for other forms of gambling range from 20 to 35 per cent of player loss (Productivity Commission 1999a)." https://taxreview.treasury.gov.au/content/FinalReport.aspx?doc=html/publications/Papers/Final_Report_Part_2/chapter_e7-2.htm Yep...who would have thought it........ and what will they come up with next !

The ads during the tennis prompted me to look at Lottoland. This is the company that allows "virtual" participation in foreign lotteries via the making of a bet. In simple terms they bet you that your numbers will not come up. The price of the bet is the equivalent of a lottery ticket. The payout if your bet is successful is similar to that which you would have won in the relevant lottery. Ultimately they take out an insurance policy to cover the chance of you winning. (Given that insurance is ultimately betting ... it is seemingly appropriate.) Anyway my discussion point is that local lotteries pay big taxes, support hospitals etc. Money from Lottoland goes to a UK outfit. If successful they have the ability to severely impact local lotteries. They must be making some money as Manly in the NRL have agreed to change the name of their stadium to Lottoland Another example of disruptive marketing. Fascinating
  25. Out of interest has anyone found a link to the appeal judgement transcript. Wonder if it was ever published cheers
