If I was the AFL (thankfully I'm not that stupid) I'd be more worried about allowing someone like Paddy McCartin back onto the field with his clear history of vulnerability to concussion - seemed like a very big call at the time and in hindsight perhaps not a good one

Quote from Will the Dill β€œIt’s widely covered now that if you make contact with the head and don't make contact with the footy, you're going to be in a bit of trouble. β€œI think the MRO is doing a really good job of staying on top of (these incidents) which is perfect. β€œHe didn't make contact with the footy, didn't have eyes with the footy and smacked Charlie in the side of the head. β€œI think he got what he deserved, the MRO is doing a good job.” Now compare the pair 1. Not watching the ball (tick) 2. No contact with the football (tick) 3. Smacked opposition player in the head (tick) 4. Seems he didn't get what he deserved (tick)

For someone not watching the ball he did remarkably well to get a fist 2 mm away from it - uncanny actually

I assume if we lose this appeal we can just get rid of contested possession as an AFL stat going forward. Closest to the ball just gets possession. I assume after that players will be able to chase and tackle? Is tackling contesting? Oh, it's becoming a bit confusing.

    There was no concussion here

Max gets thumped in the back of the head week after week after week Not even a free kick - sorry mate can't agree with you Listen to Jono Brown , Riewolt and Hawkins - players are told to make all efforts to bring the ball to ground (spoil) that was his only focus - in the process of spoiling the mark a glancing blow to the head, the damage was way overstated with the abundance of caution / stretcher. Not concussed, fine to play next week. Sensible cautious approach when he thought he heard a crack in the neck, but no damage done. If he had of got up just like Bowey, we wouldn't be having this discussion.

WTF? that doesn't make any sense So in the case of Mabior Chol there wasn't a hint of almost - but nothing to see there πŸ™

And so he should be it was clearly high and clearly high impact

The vision released from behind the goals really does make this charge look like a farce hopefully some sanity prevails, and the lad is free to play this week.

Will showed a bit in the pre season games and I was very keen to see him in Casey colours. Shame he has had an interrupted season as he looks quite promising. Ruck and possibly even develop as a key forward is his chance. Can take a mark, looks pretty mobile and he is a decent size for his age.

Less so than Chol on Bowey if you ask me but Bowey jumped up and played on
  12. GCS are a decent team at home make no mistake and they will win more games there this season than they lose IMO particularly with Miller in the team. I thought we played ok, but it was one of those games where things almost clicked but didn't. Fritta was well down, and he'd be very disappointed with his first three quarters and even more so with his poor goal kicking in the last. I don't want to focus on the umpiring other than to say I'm still shaking my head, at least 4 occasions Kozzie executed perfect tackles and clearly his opponent failed to dispose of the ball properly but play on each time - bizarre. JVR was trying to spill - yes, a bit clumsy but there was zero malice in that action and his fist was millimeters from the ball. In the end happy with the 4 points and we move on. Having watched most of the Casey game hard to make a case for BBB or JS as tall forwards so not sure what the plan is if JVR is out. Spargo might be an inclusion and hopefully Hibbo is ready to roll again.

We are so lucky we have so many in form tall forwards who needs Weid wait hold on πŸ€”
  14. Yep simply incredible
  15. We will all be watching D Smith from now on given Maysie has pumped his Tyres up.
  16. Hope Steven May is reading this.
  17. Well, the golf and seafood sounds enticing.
  18. I've heard about Marngrook, but I thought our game was the brainchild of this fella (Tom Mills). Don't get me wrong Australian rules football has and will always be infinitely better for the participation of our indigenous players but not sure there is any tangible evidence for the above claim. If there is I happily stand corrected.
  19. I'd like to know if he thinks Collingwood are all Duck and no dinner. Also, how much we will beat them by on Kings Birthday
  20. Agree that Joel is a chance if his form remains strong and he stays healthy. He is a bit frustrating because he certainly does have ability and "could" be quite dangerous as a forward if he can stay fit and focused. I thought his kicking for goal was surprisingly good last game also. Presumably he is also benefitting from Chocko's tuition in that space this season.
  21. I agree that Disco is close to being rewarded for sustained good performances. I'm personally not sold on Howes yet. I actually really liked what I saw from Zane Duursma - didn't get a heap of possessions but for a 17yo kid he looks really really promising.
  22. Yes, I'm sure I watched it I actually try and watch all the Casey games. We obviously have a different view on what is needed in our F50 - that's ok I'm very happy to defer to our selection committee to make the right decisions.
  23. Fair enough we all have differing opinions on performance / selection. By your own admission BB didn't actually do much to warrant selection other than being a decoy and occupying the focus of one of their key defenders. I thought their best defender was on TMac anyway but that's another discussion. The BBB, JVR, Max, Fritta combo that you'd like to see lacks mobility to me. Opposition sides would be licking their lips when the ball hit the ground with that forward structure. I'm a huge believer that one of our main weaknesses is when our F50 pressure is down, and teams can quickly transition, and our defense doesn't have enough time to get set. That is when teams score easily against us.
  24. Hard to be definitive because if he is sore that would explain his form to some extent. I really don't want to be critical of BB but at present he simply doesn't do enough to warrant senior selection. He is not taking contested marks, he is not mobile enough to get separation from his defender to be dangerous on a lead and he offers next to nothing in terms of defensive pressure when the ball is in dispute or when the opposition defenders are transitioning out of D50. I suspect at least some posters calling for his selection in the senior team have not bothered to watch the Casey games.
  25. Serious question did you watch the Casey game ? Not sure how BB gets a recall on that performance
