Seven rounds + zero and it’s all preordained?  Premiers, Minor premiers, top four and final eight are all in, if you follow the orwellian logic of ‘the pundits.’

The fortune teller, oracle, soothsayer and gypsy woman collective on these boards needs to have a good lie down, a bex and a cup of tea. Moderators don’t leave the empty tea cup please.

Add the conspiracy theorists, AFL headquarters, the maggots, the media circus and the Flat Earth Society. It’s enough to send the self-flagellates into delirium ecstasy.

Next you have the MFCSS missionaries, juxtaposed with the messianic visionaries and then, there are the Statistics and be Damned sect. All confident in their self-persuasion and evangelically seeking further converts.

Followed by the coodabeen coaches, keyboard commentators, excommunicated physios and self-anointed sports medicine ‘professionals’, defrocked silks, ex-chalkies and other assorted hangers on. Feels like dragging fingernails down the blackboard whiteboard?

Those remaining, best go into hibernation. Set the timer post last Saturday in September. You’ll awake none the wiser apparently.

Are you saying that the AFL has a ruling that they are holding back?  Seriously?

    Reasons??  Blackmail? Corruption? Incompetence?

Totally unbelievable and unacceptable if this is true.

Would explain a few things in regard to a more than inexplicable draw, media stigmatizing, and tight, perplexing  decision making routines this season, so far. Think about it.

As Smith’s case has still not been dealt with, which is a disgrace in itself given the scenario, I feel we should be able to put him on the LTI list or similar and agree to pay out this year his last and have another spot for the mid season draft, if we want to use it.

It seems very unfair he can’t play, but has still not had his case dealt with.

The AFL is holding the decision relating to Smith over the MFC. Reasons, could be anything.

I've had enough of the Petty forward experiment.

He is an outstanding tall defender and should be leading our next generation of tall defenders in the May/Lever succession plan.

He's done some good things and had a couple of good games up forward, but is more likely to have nil impact than good impact when forward. Against Richmond he had more clangers than disposals.

I've still got my fingers crossed for Fullarton but we really need to find a big competitive body with a 'nothing to lose' attitude in the mid-season draft.

I thought the bloke who kicked three goals looked ok

    Hope you are correct.

Not taking things for granted but with Richmond’s injuries, even with having Oliver and Salem out I am not just expecting us to win but am hoping to see a ‘statement game’ and getting a percentage boost.

Following week is the big game against the cats.  Carlscum five days later unfortunately is a bit problematic. Want three wins, will settle for two, nothing less.

That's just the sort of quote where we lose....percentage booster..

Yes good point WC.   I usually don't and turn off before the songs even played after the siren.

Though it dd jog my long but somewhat dormant disdain for anything red & black.

The classic was that possibky their worst player on the night, who almost cost them the game from planking on the ball at the end and was saved by umpire incompetance, was the main one over celebrating as if he'd just won a flag 🤮

I don't think maggots care a rats about crowds. It was so much more to getting TWSNBN over the line at all costs.

That HTB against Draper at the finish is not clear cut as it might first look.

Watch how Tex hurls himself into Draper's back. It's potentially a free to Draper as well, but what the incident highlights is the really crummy tactic of jumping on a player to lock the ball in. Why is that rewarded when at any other time we look down on teams playing for frees? In any case it's not clear from the vision that it is Draper who pulls the ball in. Hilarious to see Tex mouthing off at the finish.

I just wish the umpires had the strength to umpire against the crowd when we're playing the Crows over there. They have cost us two wins in the last few years with cowardly non-decisions or outright blunders.

Don't know why anyone would be expressing about TWSNBN good fortune in a game changing situation.

They are wanted by the AFL to be top4 in Collingwood's place, on a just in case basis.

I lost interest in AFL in my younger years and even then, when people were saying we were finished as a club, I couldn’t change teams. Red and blue is in my blood.

When i was little i read my birth certificate and it said i was a blue baby. No kidding.

Disappointed but not surprised. Brisbane with plenty to play for and we just weren't quite at our best.

More of a vent than a question. 5 day breaks. We have 2. I did a bit of research and there are 9 teams who have one 5 day break through their season. 5 teams have zero 5 day breaks and we are one of 4 unlucky ones with 2.

Is there any rhyme or reason to how these are given out? They are a blight on the game and without going overboard, I feel like they are dangerous. These guys aren't playing lawn bowls, it's an extremely intense, rough and unforgiving sport and the AFL are playing with players wellbeing, not to mention the quality of the game, purely for tv viewers and Ad revenue.

We weren't at our best tonight and I certainly don't believe that was purely fatigue. There are areas we need to work on but 3 games in 13 days is less than ideal scheduling to put it mildly. The boys had to be feeling the effects of that.

I think this bye will be great for us.

All the more reason to make sure every Team gets the same treatment when its their turn.

Precisely. How  can it be that 6 rounds in we are physically exhausted? We did have blooded a number of young guys so can understand forget may need a rest but no idea why the senior player (other than Max) appeared out of petrol tickets from the first quarter. Was it an outlier and if so, still have to wonder why.   What happens at the pointy end of the season or even worse, finals. That is was is most concerning. What makes the most sense is that the bulk of the team were suffering some kind of illness but that could also be a convenient narrative to cover over a very weak and flat performance.

The only problem with this argument is that going into Finals last year we were knacked  into the the Finals and didn't come up.

  11. I saw similarities in the way the game was umpired last night in the Footscray game and our game against Brisbane.

What happens is free kicks getting paid to one team and not the other. No consistency in the fifteen metre rule.

No bringing people back and around on the mark

Worse was paying some marks and not others.

Oh please stop fighting ...Kossie isn't a thug( or Williams) he's getting suspended for undisciplined and unnecessary minor infractions that a few years back ,when he started, probably would pass unnoticed

I said to the first posturing response " choose your adjective. " :undisciplined, careless,    unnecessary, wasteful.??

Then mentioned his genius with ground balls..suspension is wasting his talent and contributions.

    Now go away

Thanks for agreeing with me at last.

  13. If one wanted a worse trio of maggots doing our game?

They were all there again. Paying a ten metre one time then not paying a 15 mtr next.

Evening up the frees, but couldn't bring themselves to do it. Every time we got a mark it was play on. Every time they got a mark or free kick it was ........would you like a cup of tea before you kick.

The "smiling assassin" and "adolphus Twirk" made sure we were not going to get close but we did.

"Fatso" and "dopey" were talking all through our game except when we scored, obviously not often.

Based on that decision, (Kozzies suspension) I'd be expecting at least half a dozen incidents a game to be looked at. How many times in a game, that is played at break neck speed, is there a action by one player that has the potential to cause injury to another. I'd say nearly every contested ball there could be an incident whereby a player makes accidental contact with another's head or face. It's football for God's sake, not basketball.

That goes for any spoilt mark attempts, which are now to be taken as a mandatory head blow, and as part of the danger.

Agreed. With Jason Taylor steadily churning out quality players everywhere except over 193cm, we really need to make that investment.

Fullarton hasn't had a chance yet and I instinctively like him as a prospect, but we can't keep churning through other club's surplus.

Taylor, Weitering and Harris Andrews are all free agents at end of 2025, for what it is worth. ;)

Taylor yes, Andrews and Weitering are  maybe not fit enough for us.
