Lol. Pretty comfortable day for the Chiefs. Had to take care of business today. The game against Seattle in a couple weeks is shaping as the third easiest we have left, so we couldn't afford to slip up.

So let me get this straight. The process is that we can delist a contracted player but pick them up in the rookie draft on the same wage? Meanwhile, other clubs could pick them up ahead of us in that draft or delisted free agency? If this is the case, surely Mckenzie and Evans go to the rookie list ahead of Trengove if there's even a small risk of another club's interference. We know Evans and Mckenzie are done, but even if he's got a long road ahead of him, Trengove still offers something.

Week 9: San Diego New Orleans Indy Probably should have picked Denver but I just can't pick Manning to beat Brady. San Diego is pretty banged up and that's probably a foolish pick. I should just pick them out of a hat.

Yep. According to our dear friend Sam Edmund, he's going to Brisbane on a 2-year deal. Good news for Melbourne supporters at last.

Mark Neeld head of development at the Bombers
pantaloons replied to Jack Jack Tappy's topic in Melbourne Demons
Mark Neeld plus Essendon is a recipe for a very dangerous Demonland thread. -
Did you watch it? I don't have game pass and I was up at 4am this morning (with a newborn) watching the Bengals game and following our game on twitter and gamecast. Despite the final scoreline, those deflating things early in sporting games like mussed field goals can completely change the direction of a contest. Smith's numbers were very efficient. He plays within his limitations, which I like.

The following is a complete list of footballers who couldn't make a career of it under Paul Roos but went on to thrive elsewhere:

If we have 7 supporters, then I was making a riotously hilarious gag that you must have many accounts given that there are hundreds of people signed up here. Not funny, move along. In any event, I know plenty of Melbourne supporters. That said, many of these are connected to my days growing up in Camberwell. Moving around various other parts of Melbourne over the past 11 years, there aren't quite as many. I still think we have a lot more than gets reported. I know lots of Dees supporters who have busy work and personal lives and quite frankly can't be stuffed with it ruining their lives when the team is so poor. They're not likely to go online and fill out random surveys or ring talk back radio either.

No. GWS is the only club with four or more picks by that stage, and they're all in the top 24. It'd be unprecedented (and insane) for a team to pass then, their pick 24 is an academy pick, and given their insistence on pick 23 they'll certainly be using it. Four players are off the board by 40, already committed to their clubs via father-son or academy picks.

Are you owning up to having hundreds of demonland accounts?

Interesting that the most popular choice on here is a guy listed as a tall defender (the least required position on our list), has had a knee reco, and comes in at #9 on Cal Twomey's current phantom draft. Is Prendergastism contagious?

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - SAM FROST
pantaloons replied to Gipsy Danger's topic in Melbourne Demons
With Lumumba and Frost (though I wouldn't necessarily expect Frost to be a 22-gamer next year), what are the chances of us being a bit less stagnant moving the ball up the ground next season? Hogan up front as a target helps as well. Keeping possession seemed to be valued this year, and with the personnel we have even that was a difficult ask. -
Thanks GNF. The most simultaneously enlightening and depressing thread in Demonland history.

I'll take 5c royalties on the nickname Blimp.

Sorry guys, same as a few of you. Seattle Cleveland Arizona

I can't tell if you're joking. If we were gifted Petracca at 2, why in the name of Luke Molan would we pass him up? We've already done GWS a favour today.

Adam Baldwin @adamwbaldwin Tim Membrey trade to @stkildafc not likely to go though today. Destined for the pre-season draft. @superfooty That can only be good news. -

Nice thinking, but is there really any incentive for us to get a deal done other than being top blokes? I know we want to eliminate the slight uncertainty of the PSD, but my only offers would be 23 for Frost and 24, or 83 for Frost. Unless of course they want to start talking Shiel at the eleventh hour. -

Welcome to the Dees, H! Like others, I choose to view this in a positive light. Lumumba is essentially a freebie since I never thought Clark was coming back. Collingwood get ripped off and end up giving a list clogger three years. It's a good day.
-
In the past three Octobers, there have been 27, 28 and 31 total trades made. Thus far, we have had four, one of which the MFC has been involved in. You could reasonably expect that there might be another 20-30 trades made in the next 31 hours. It's not a guarantee that Roos will pull a rabbit out of his hat, but I'd hold any disappointment about this trade period until 2pm tomorrow.

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - HERITIER LUMUMBA
pantaloons replied to Moonshadow's topic in Melbourne Demons
I just don't think we are going to be able to do this. If we were playing NHL 98, Lumumba would be rated around 80-85, Varcoe around 75, and Clark around 90 with a bandaid next to his name. Collingwood are clearly getting the worst player in the deal and I'm sure they've already been kicking up a stink behind closed doors about improving their draft position in this trade if their Beams dealings and past history is anything to go by. I'd love to get an extra pick out of it, but it'd probably be easier if we had a pick in the 30-80 range that could be upgraded rather than just a straight pick in, but we don't. -
Where does Ryan say it's those three picks?
-
Wow. Firstly, thanks Ryan for posting this. A bit of food for thought after a bleak day. I'll treat this as if it's true for the sake of this post. The thought of having a star like Kennedy at the club is exciting, and yes, the price is enormous and scary. I'm astonished that it'd be pick 39 coming back rather than their first rounder, but that's practically small fry when giving up 2 AND 3. With a deal like this you are going to have to pay overs. You're not going to be able to bowl up to a good club looking for a contracted star with an offer that they look at and say "Yes, that's an equal swap". It's got to be that offer they can't refuse. While pound for pound the deal clearly favours Sydney, I will be happy if it goes through. We are seeing football list building changing, and with players having increasing say in where they go, having a good and attractive side for players to come to is crucial. Obviously the offer to Kennedy would be massive and that along with Roos would be contributing factors to him coming, so money is still big. I do believe that we can't continue to wait like fools to become good, draft after draft, while losing our best players to free agency every year. If this helps us win a few more games next year, helps the development of the kids, and helps attract someone like Dangerfield next year, then maybe in a broader sense it won't be overs in the long run.
