Well, SNF went pretty much as I expected. The offense was very disappointing against a mediocre D though. We'll need to play in blizzards in the playoffs if we're going to go anywhere.

I have to add that Indianapolis would have just lost to a two-win Houston team had the Texans' coach not appeared to be on his last legs at half time. They have also lost to two mediocre sides in San Diego and Miami. I fully expect KC to lose 2-4 games before the playoffs, but we can only beat who we play. Despite being a good side, Indy failed to do that twice.

Looks like three weeks for Rodgers. I'll get in early with week 10 picks: Seattle Denver Miami

Who am I? I am a professional football team In my most recently completed season, I won a total of 2 games I sacked my coach, and in the offseason quickly appointed a coach whose last tenure was one of the greatest in that club's history Already possessing a strong defence, I addressed my team's biggest on-field need via trade, taking that position from the worst in the competition by a mile to one of at least adequacy I am the...

Oh, I remember what this feels like. McCluster drops the most wide open TD pass of all time and the Chiefs are punting back down 10-3 late in the second. This after Bowe dropped a pass for a 1st down inside the Buffalo 10 on the last drive. Smith has thrown some unimpressive passes today, but two massive drops so far. Unforgivable.

I don't want to sound like a ninny as ive complained here about this sort of thing before, but Ray Emery's effort today in Philly was an absolute cowardly disgrace. During a brawl, he went down and fought his opposing goaltender, who clearly didn't want any part of it. I usually hate sporting suspensions as they are often overkill, but he should be gone for the season. It's bordering on assault if you're beating the heck out of an unwilling participant.

Indianapolis New Orleans Hmmmmmmm... I'll go KC. Buffalo has been a graveyard for us since '86 but, like half the teams we've fortuitously faced, they don't have their starting QB. I still think it'll come down to the wire. I was think of going Cincinnati but I hate picking against decent home teams when there are other options available.

What an animal. Great game.Just saw Patterson's 109-yard kickoff return TD for Minnesota. Electrifying. KC gets away with another sleepy performance, but now the schedule gets tough. And hell freezeth over - we're actually on TV by the choice of CBS/OneHD this coming week at Buffalo for the first time this season (week 3 at Philly was a Thursday night game). Good times. Oh, and classic stuff after Dave's mournful tipping tale given that Pittsburgh went down at Oakland. I feel ya.

Ok... San Fran, Green Bay and Seattle. Gorgo, what about trading for someone like Kyle Orton? It depends on what you want to make of this season I suppose. He might help you get close to the final wildcard spot, but maybe losing the plot from here and getting a top 10 pick isn't all bad. Orton isn't going to be playing with Romo there, and has been useful at times in the past.

I just need to retire. If I can't pick three road winners this week then I never will. Relief at Arrowhead today. A pretty lacklustre performance, but a win is a win I suppose.

Disgraceful swine. I think I remember ringing up to complain about shenanigans like this in the past, and the response was something along the lines of having access to only a certain amount of LIVE games, so some get delayed. Absolute snot. Yeah, he's dominating. Well done, cowboy. Case Keenum starting his first game for Houston this week against a rabid KC defense and wild Arrowhead crowd. As Sinatra would infer, if he can make it there, he can make it anywhere. Colts-Broncos - what a great matchup. Not only the Manning subplot, but two of the league's best teams going at it.

Give me Seattle, San Diego and New England this week thanks! The AFC playoff picture is shaping up even though its still early days. I see it unfolding thus: 1. Denver 2. New England 3. Indianapolis 4. Cincinnati 5. Kansas City 6. Miami/Baltimore I'm less clear with how the NFC will shape up, but expect Green Bay, New Orleans and Dallas to win their divisions, Seattle and San Francisco to both make it, and then you can throw a blanket over a few North and West teams. The surprises for me are Atlanta and Houston already gone this early.

No, as in it's on about a 24-hour delay (tonight/tomorrow morning). Some interesting results this morning. Matt Schaub injured and jeered by his own fans as Houston got belted at home by the Rams. Next stop: Arrowhead, where the KC D awaits. Houston's season is pretty much shot, and Baltimore's took another turn for the worse. Assuming KC is the first wildcard spot this year (and with injuries mounting and a tougher second half schedule I'm not taking anything for granted), it'll be a frantic race for the #6 seed in the AFC. Miami and Baltimore would be the likeliest, but Tennessee can't be discounted if Locker returns in time to make an impact.

Oakland facing 3rd and 48 from their 2! Never seen that before. KC crowd doing its job today, going for the all time decibel record.

I have no idea why OneHD did this, but the Jets-Steelers game is on overnight tonight. Not sure if they'd used up their quota of live games or if they're just really big fans of Omnisport. Like I feared, KC with our hands full against Oakland. We are up 14-7 early in the 4th.

Edler got 3 games from Shanaban. he was always going to bein trouble, as his ht was basically solely to Hertl's head. Brad Stuart got 3 games for hitting Rick Nash the previous game and putting him out for the game, though contact with the head there was minimal if at all.

Incredibly, Hertl's goal celebration drew criticism from Adam Oates in Washington. What a sad man. Jumbo Joe Thornton followed it up with one of the quotes of the year. Sorry, it's a bit crude: http://www.fearthefin.com/2013/10/10/4824938/joe-thornton-[censored]-hertl-four-goals-oates

When looking at the Sharks lineup in the offseason, Tomas Hertl was a guy I hoped would be able to come in and earn his spot. If you haven't heard the name yet, you will soon. Picked at #17 in the 2012 draft, this is his first season in the NHL. He scored twice in his second game and then tied a franchise record with four goals yesterday in a 9-2 rout over NYR. I recommend viewing his fourth goal, an absurd party trick. Sorry I haven't included a link, but it's on the club website. Anyway, he's one to watch. Totally the right move from McLellan putting him on the top line with Thornton and Burns too. It's a physically big line, and Thornton has always made sure his line mates have plenty of opportunities to score.

KC's next three games are all at home against Oakland, Houston and Cleveland. We will start favourites, barring injury or unforeseen calamity in all of them, but the one I fear an upset in the most is this week against da Raiders. Our biggest rival, and they've beaten us the last 6 times at Arrowhead. There's no overly logical reason for this fear, other than our games are always intense and often close no matter how the teams are travelling.

Woke up to find my twitter feed filled with Chiefs fans campaigning for a return of Tony Gonzalez to Arrowhead. Would be a glorious reunion but Atlanta would have to reconcile themselves with shelving their season five weeks in. They should though - at 1-4, even in the fairly weak NFC, it's over.

Broncos-Cowboys. Wow. Apart from the fact that the result completely sucks for me, what a scoreline! Can't believe Denver wins despite conceding only 10 fewer points than KC has allowed all season. Huge win for Indy today. Looking legit. Massive win also for Cincy against New England. A reality check for the Pats. They were ordinary in the first two weeks and got away with it.

I remember seeing footage of Roy's son in that goalie 'fight'. It was absolutely disgusting. A complete coward who I hope was never allowed to play again. Now that's off my chest, it's great to have the hockey back! The Sharks have a few out to start the season so it was good to see a couple of youngsters in Hertl and Nieto play. Hertl, a first round pick from last year, will be a regular this season, probably on the top line alongside big boys Thornton and Burns. I like the new jerseys too. They've copped a bit of criticism for looking like boring practice jerseys, but I like them. They're less busy than the previous ones, there's less orange, and it emphasises the teal. Yes, teal is very 1991, but it's our colour so we might as well embrace it.
