There's a lot of truth in that. I think humans can distort the message of any faith over centuries. Matthew 22:34-40 - The Greatest Commandment 34 Hearing that Jesus had silenced the Sadducees, the Pharisees got together. 35 One of them, an expert in the law, tested him with this question: 36 “Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the Law?” 37 Jesus replied: “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’[a] 38 This is the first and greatest commandment. 39 And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’[b] 40 All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments.” The difference between that key message, which can be embraced by any person, and the behaviour of humans attempting to live Christian lives since, can be huge.

It's going to be an interesting 3-4 years in evaluating the Clark trade. Geelong has gone in with high risk, high reward in Clark, who at is best is clearly the best player in the deal, and someone who if fit for long enough could help keep Geelong in premiership contention. Melbourne has taken the most proven, durable and consistent player in the deal, in a position and playing style the side desperately needs. We aren't in position to take too many punts on players and it's a definite upgrade over our other running backmen, even if he does spend time in the middle. And Collingwood has furthered its 2015 stealth tanking mode with the acquisition of a genuine dud. Wins all round.

I'll get in super early, as I'm likely to forget: New England 31, Baltimore 20 Denver 45, Indianapolis 24 Green Bay 34, Dallas 24 Seattle 41, Carolina 3

And when that happens, to have people complaining about the top free agent joining the reigning premiers.
-
Hmmm. Pittsburgh 26 Baltimore 17 Indianapolis 38 Cincinnati 31 Dallas 24 Detroit 27 Carolina 17 Arizona 13 I'll take Detroit as the lone road win, banking on some classic 21st century Cowboys playoff disaster. I don't hate Dallas, but we've seen it a lot.

Tremendous performance by the D today. Justin Houston finishes half a sack off the all time record. Give him some dollars! A really good season ruined by losses to Tennessee and Oakland, a win in either of which would have put us in the playoffs.
-
Better adjust those chiefs percentages. Alex Smith out with a lacerated spleen.

SWEET! Should be a pearler with both teams playing for their lives. KC starting a 2.5 point favourite. Onto the tips. I'll take New Orleans and...what the heck. I'll go the reverse jinx. Cleveland Jacksonville Twill be the sweetest point ever earned.

Macca, for us to get in, we have to beat San Diego, Baltimore needs to lose at home to Cleveland and Jacksonville needs to win at Houston. We already used our 'Week 17 Miracle' back in 2006. We just blew it against Oakland and Tennessee. We are where we deserve to be. Actually, before this season I thought we would be better than last year, but miss the playoffs. Today was very frustrating. When you're a team that relies on efficiency and doesn't get many big plays on either side of the ball, you can't afford fumbles and coaching errors when in the red zone, both of which happened today.

Is he a Melbourne player yet? Man, trade year is long!

Jokes aside, Neeld will be the least of their worries. He was highly regarded as the midfield coach of a premiership team. Just because he didn't cut it as a senior coach doesn't mean he can't perform other coaching roles.

From twitter: @RealFauxMadden: If the North Koreans were able to prevent "The Interview" from airing, can they do the same thing for tomorrow's Titans-Jaguars game?

I'm trying to think if I've ever been more relieved by a re-signing. I remember being excited when Tingay rejected a massive offer from Freo in the mid-90s, but given the current free agency climate and our last eight years, this is huge. I didn't think he'd leave, but this avoids a whole year of speculation and trial by media. In addition, after Melbourne barnstorm their way to the next 5 premierships from 8th position, iron man Jones will pass David Neitz as Melbourne's games record holder in the 2019 semi.

I'm stealing Macca's thunder here, but the alarm is set for 5am this Monday. Chiefs-Steelers on 7mate. Time to put the Priest Holmes jersey on for a couple hours.

Yeah - it's quite bizarre. The strangest part to me is the decline of Dwayne Bowe. Just a couple of years ago (right before he signed a hefty five year deal of course) he'd been putting up some serious WR numbers and was a genuine threat. He's still our best WR, clearly, but just hasn't found his way into the endzone this year. Smith is still finding scoring targets though. When Charles isn't running it in, Smith is finding he or Davis, or TEs Fasano or Kelce for scores. Certainly, I wouldn't be recommending putting your hard-earned on us this week, but we have been nothing if not honest against good opposition this year. We've only had two poor performances this season (vs Tennessee and at Oakland) and they will likely cost us our season. I'm excited about this week. I'm not expecting a win, but I give us a 38% chance. And you're right - they've been hot and cold, with some woeful home efforts. I was happy they won yesterday for that reason.
-
Correct. We have to win at Pittsburgh this week AND at home against San Diego the following week. It's a simple scenario for KC: win both games and we are guaranteed a playoff spot. Lose one and to make it we are relying on a set of miracles so remote there's more chance of Halley's Comet coming early and careening into Arrowhead Stadium. I don't think we'll make it, but this week is the big one. If we can win at Pittsburgh and San Diego lose at San Fran, the Chargers will be coming to KC in week 17 with nothing to play for. Anyway, I'll get in early with some exceptionally boring picks: Philadelphia Green Bay New England

Good luck to him. It's a win for all parties. Melbourne is strong down back and adds someone who should have an excellent career for us, Hawthorn adds one of the better big backmen in the comp for nothing, and supporters of other clubs get to ignore this and instead can cry tears of candy that the club losing one of its best players gets compensated.
-
We had a touchdown taken off us that would have given us a double digit lead and pretty much ended the game for a terrible penalty against Fasano. Smith threw a pick two plays later. Late in the game we had the ball in FG range and Kelce was ruled by the video official to have fumbled despite the evidence not clearly supporting this. Whatevs. We threw our season away against Oakland. Just sucks to lose one on Monday we should never have lost. Pittsburgh Green Bay Denver

Mitch Clark on Paleo Diet
pantaloons replied to The Song Formerly Known As's topic in Melbourne Demons
It's Mitch Clark. 'Training the house down' means it'll literally fall on top of him and injure him. -
I can't ever remember being more disillusioned with the NFL than I am after yesterday. The Chiefs just blatantly had their season ruined by disgraceful officiating, and Buffalo has a similar complaint. I'm not a conspiracy theorist, I'll just go with the notion of complete incompetence.

Who is Aaron Vandenberg?

Sorry mate. You have my permission to campaign for my instant dismissal from this site if you lose. Seriously though, I'm shocked that the Rams are only 5-7. Every time I seem to look at their score they're flogging a team or beating up on one of the league's best. Actually, I'm looking at your schedule now. That is insanely difficult. With both the AFC West and NFC West strong and having to play each other, it's a tough schedule for anyone in those divisions.
